[GENERAL] Original Puzzletrail Thread added: http://vanishingpointwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page It looks like 42 Entertainment is starting a new ARG called Vanishing Point. The first hint showed up yesterday on the ieblog http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/ the text says:
Most of you won't figure this out
rpf6ncada34wget32-84
kvezz1x6cfp0egnyvm32
z3o6qj-o3ddwn3;u-loe
vanishingpointgame.com
the swf movie on vanishingpointgame.com connects back to 42entertainment.com and upon dissasembling the flash it hints at a live event at the Bellagio fountains in LV on Jan 8th 6:30PM (CES will be there during that time)
No luck figuring out the key yet. The only thing I've noticed is that whatever you type in the box it displays an "incorrect key" message except when the text is 15 characters long.
There is also an HTML comment in the page source PIN=5813

Since I suck at puzzles, I ran a quick whois on the site, and whoever registered the domain is quite slick, they did it through www.domainsbyproxy.com so as to hide any clues to identity. This better not be a new trend in ARGdom or the only useful thing I can do will be gone.

oh man, january is going to be busy. I'm excited.
maybe im just tired but i cant seem to find the post on http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/
or the .swf video on vanishingpoint.com
EDIT: when you try a password it tells you to search the net for "vanishingpoint" to see if anyone else has figured it out.
SPEC: I stumbled across this. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0067927/ . It appears that Vanishing Point is a cult movie from 1971 so maybe this is an arg based on that movie? ...if so that may help us find a password.

You know, me either, but I thought that was because I'm flash- and movie-challenged sometimes, but...
Why does this guy think it's by 42?

Weird. I went to the blog you linked, searched through all the posted blogs and comments, and could not find your posted comment.

I have to have a really good reason to drag my hubby out to the fountains on Monday. At least now we have a time frame.
I tried numbers and words in the submit box and, maybe it's my firewall or something, but nothing happens for me. I even unblocked popups.
On the bright side, this site is on a dedicated server, registered 25 Oct 2006 (expires in just one year), and a wiki "about us" was started???
http://www.aboutus.org/VanishingPointGame.com (maybe this is some new automatic thing that tracks site traffic) but it does link back to the whois info page.
Anyone figure out that posted code?

I don't think it's an actual post. It's in the news section on the right side of the page.

Another countdown...? Just an observation.
"Another game in Jan '07 and another countdown...?"
Someone should start a list of Jan '07 ARG Launches
Seems this might be interesting, I think I will rent the Movie, although the reviews seem pretty bad.

Same thing happened in January 2005 when about 15 new games all started about the same time.
It's by 42. I'll be watching it at least.

It seems that they got a clue from someone named lokivanishes . It was another image (attaching below).
From that image, the following code was found (which I don't get how, so if someone could enlighten me):
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
wh0isl0ki
Entering that code, and you get to a letter grid (also attached).
Edit: Btw, I've set up a game room as well: #vanishing

Is it just me, or can you not enter stuff anymore? and, I don't know about everyone else, but... it doesn't really seem like 4orty2wo's style to just give a cipher on a message board discussing the game... right?
Never played a 4orty2wo game, but...

I entered the code as above and got the cipher page.
Found something about a console game called Vanishing Point that was orginally released in 2000 & 2001.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanishing_Point_ (video_game)
Note: the link doesn't like the _(video_game) part, and takes you to the wiki page for the Vanishing Point movie instead.
