So I hadn't signed in here since April 2005, and decided to wander back. I've seen a couple of you on Live but have been too embarrassed by my lack of activity on here to say hi.

But I sucked it up. Anyway, I'm still violentvixen and would be up for a game sometime.

Hopefully all of us will make the beta!

Haha, thanks.

It's the reason I've been MIA from Zion for a bit, but I'm still lurking. Smile

DNS/PPoE issues
why is my connection to XBL suddenly not working?

Quote:
No DNS Server addresses were received from the DHCP or PPoE server. Enter the DNS Server(s) provided by your ISP in the Network Settings menu. See www.xbox.com/connect for more information.

This has become a sudden, mysterious problem for me. I have had no change in ISPs, no account recovery (IOW, changing any settings whatsoever) or messing with connection settings on the XBox dashboard.

My laptop can connect wirelessly no problem, and the XBox itself is hard-wired with cat5 directly to the router. The XBox detects the connected cables just fine, but chokes on the DNS.

I am hoping it's just some weird temporary issue with my ISP - I just tried pinging a few domains, and I get 100% packet loss from xbox.com. Dunno if that really means anything, but I get 0% from a few other randomly-selected domains.

I have power-cycled the modem. I have no idea what else to do.

Edited to add: I just mac spoofed, and got through that way. I still wonder why it wasn't auto-detecting, though. Maybe my ISP is being a big piece of poo.

Hi, it's Cherry. I hope this isn't too far off the current subject... I just got a free 1 month Xbox Live Gold card, and I'm a veteran of I Love Bees so I was wondering if y'alls are doing anything on Halo 2 over the holiday season. I'd love to play with people I remember from ILB. Playing anonymous users is nice, but they are generally jerks. I just want to play and have fun. How would I join the Beekeepers clan? Thanks...

Sign up and post your gamer tag, Cherry. On XBox Live, I'm still Clayfoot. Many of the other I Love Bees players use the same gamer tag on XBox Live. The 2 biggest clans of ILB players are 'The Beekeepers' and 'EvadeEvadeEvade'. After you post your gamer tag, anyone can invite you to one of the clans and/or add you to their friends list.

Cool! My gamer tag is "Cherry Cotton," just like here. I'll sign up for Gold sometime tomorrow or the next day, and I'll post here when I do.

Excellent.

Okay, I've signed up. Thanks!

I'm now listed as Friends with a few of you guys, and as an official member of the Beekeepers. This is so cool. Thanks very much. If y'alls plan to do anything in the coming, er, month, please tell me with an Xbox Live message. I'll try to keep an eye on my PMs, too. Oh, and I have a keyboard hooked up to my 360, so I can send all the text messages I want from the dashboard.

Hooray!

You can also just deal with messages on the web, if that's easier.

Oh, don't worry, I totally know the answer already, bwa ha. (I mean, I hadn't heard of the initiation quiz before now... but, don't worry, I definitely know the answer.)

We've been a little lenient recently on the whole quiz-thing. There's been a few additions that haven't been quizzed simply because we knew them and needed some more active players around. xD

The reason the quiz was implemented was incase a person wanted to get a friend into The Beekeepers clan and the rest of us didn't know that person. The quiz allowed us to determine that the person coming into the clan knew at least the basic story of I Love Bees. However we really don't care much anymore, if you're a good person that's good enough.

Well, I mean, you can find the answer just by searching through the ILB forums briefly... it's just a cute little initiation to make sure you're serious, not something that seals off non-ILBers from the clan.
