Hershey Miniatures must have totally different wrappers in the UK than in the U.S.!

Hahaha my bad!

Under closer inspection we can definitely state these are not Hershey miniatures, nor do they look anything like them apart from the shape.

Thanks for making me look again Krystyn Smile

dang holidays
Finally caught up. I'm definitely going to try to get to the Toronto event... It's within busing distance Smile

Here are my 2p fwiw... if this is 42, at this point it seems not to be an arg on the scale of ILB or LCP, IIRC, just from the method of pre-game. But then so far the 'story' is pretty self-supporting and tinag, aside from the apparent lack of secrecy in hiding 42's connection. Perhaps it's an arg somewhere between ILB and Hex168.
correct me if I'm wrong- people knew LCP was from 42, but there wasn't any direct reference to them within, right? And ILB didn't have any reference to 42 either... whereas hex168 I believe was easily linked to 42, though much less of a curtained arg; it was quite TIAG =)

Well anyway, definitely looking forward to these countdown dates.

So, it sounds like we have January 8th, then all the dates on the countdown page to look forward to...?

the chocolates

i'm guessing the wrappers are these wynn promo chocolates.. maybe minis?

edit: i agree that these are promo chocolates from some hotel.. so, maybe not a wynn hotel but another hotel that uses "perugina" chocolates - the colors and foil look so similar to me.

Chocolate label probably from a hotel

The first set of chocolates on the Room Service cart look like generic foil wrapped squares with a special hotel label....

Here is an example of one from another hotel (they just put plain ducks on theirs) found by RedHatty last night: chocolates

Here are ours: chocolate

I'm thinking if these are from the hotel where they did the video, then it's probably in the Los Angeles area.

okay.. i don't know if you guys have already pointed this out (i did a search and didn't find anything)... and this could be wild spec.. but i see again and again (via google and edelman's site) that edelman pr is behind the launch of many projects for microsoft and they are also the pr company behind skyhook, who happens to have a fairly new free virtual gps thing called "loki". i'm sure everyone stumbled upon it earlier but here is the link http://loki.com/

perhaps "loki" would be used at the live events?

I've been looking at the sheet of maths and it looks like Special Relativity to me. There's gammas for one thing and that just screams relativity, and a graph that looks like a light cone. What would be nice would be to understand the green writing, all I can make out are the clearer symbols in black, and the bottom equation is just a jumble to me although it may well include an integral. The equation that is clearest is t' = gamma t which, when talking about increments, is a relativity equation, and I think the one at the top is a form of a metric but my brain is failing me and I can remember neither whether it is correct or how to prove it. (Anyone know if there's a way to type greek symbols on here?)

Trouble is, not much out there would actually need any relativity calculations. I need to find my special relativity notes (and I thought I wouldn't need them in my new flat) but I don't see it meaning much unless we can get a better shot of the writing. Or figure out the pictures.

Of course, if I were making a video and wanted to look mathematical and impressive, I'd probably write some fake maths that looks a lot like this. But then if I followed that thought to its conclusion, I'd have nothing to investigate as my chocolate finding skills are rusty hence I'll keep pondering the deep meaning hidden here.

The thing about special relativity may relate to the stopwatches - maybe she is testing out the clock paradox - that of the traveling clock runs slowing compared to the stationary clock?

She is a scientist by golly out to confirm Einstein for herself but doesn't that take two observers? Or at least one stationary clock and one moving clock?

Maybe this is just a plain old hint to E=mc2 (yeah the 2 is squared but I dont remember how to make the superscript atm.

That'd be pretty tough to do with old-fashioned stopwatches Wink (and without all the other stuff necessary for this kind of experiment).

Difficult to tell, but perhaps the sphere in the drawings refers to something like this?

Plus, i see a refrence to Pi in his GPA in the "Vanishing Act" section.

EDIT: Also appears to include the Logarithmic Spiral

It also noted that the character's GPA was 3.1415 which is Pi to four digits (I mean after the decimal). I'm thinking this character loves math and puzzles and is possibly an evil genius. I've included info on Pi in case noone added anything on it.

Nice thought, however:
I've stayed at the Bellagio, that is not one of their rooms. And their logo is gold. And why would she be talking about catching a plane if she was already in Vegas?
It might be a Marriot logo (I've got some other online friends researching that angle).

I like Rob's spec about it being a nod to "42". We'll find out soon enough.
I'm not so sure about a ride up to the Space Station. The liability alone is ridiculous, but the cost, training, physical examination, etc.....maybe a ride in the Vomit Comet....but my spec is a person will be immortalized in a game or gaming system.....or some other MS software or hardware product.

It's a continued fraction for the golden ratio (apparently, its terms converge to ratios of successive fibonacci numbers... granted, Loki is rather liberal with the "=" sign there), hence the spiral and e, and the pretty fractal. (thanks to Adis on neowin for pointing me to this).

The locations on the Circumambulation page refer to Windows Vista Launch Events. Prizes will probably be given away at these events, but it's highly likely that a new puzzle (I guess you guys call them trailheads?) will be unveiled (similar to how the Halo 2 trailer had one for I Love Bees).

Just want to point out: Trailheads, also called Rabbit Holes, are the first puzzle/website/whatever that lead players to the game and the story.

As for wether we'll see more puzzles, we'll just have to wait and find out.

I think the space trip thing is a little far-fetched. I'm not sure what's gonna happen, but space travel is really expenisve and hard to do (allthough i have been proven wrong before!).

Oh, and just to make things easier to see, here's a rotated version of Loki's sheet of paper with the maths and physics and the OY-My-brain-hurts!

I suspect that all these things in Loki's hotel room; the piece of paper with the science equations, the history books, plus that "The Set Up" page, are just meant to give us background on Loki: to establish that she's really smart and knowledgable. And she likes chocolate. Smile
