just a passing thought, I've been looking at the 42 number strings, and I can't keep but thinking i'm just looking at a code in base 4. very long numbers in base 4. any thoughts?

I breifly had that thought as well, tho it would be base5 we're looking at
And then if you include the .5 it becomes base6. And there is the problem of the one lonely string that has more than one decimal point.

However, I have yet to follow up on that and actually work the numbers back into base10.

I think the lack of zeros in any of the strings makes this unlikely, though I certainly can't rule it out.

[TINAG] Whatever the number strings are supposed to tell us, it seems unlikely that the message would happen to use 42 numbers, none of which use zero as a digit in base 4.[/TINAG]

[TIAG] On the other hand, in designing a puzzle, you could decide that you wanted to do that fairly easily. [/TIAG]

Just a reminder for those that might not be aware of it but there is a thread that was previously being used to discuss the risk numbers and blob shapes which is here.

There have been several theories for the .5 numbers, I still think that this is team risk and that the .5 numbers denote territories that have no ownership see post here.

letters?

Just an idea outside the box...

Could you follow a number string through the moves on the Risk board and see if the path results in the shape of a letter? Perhaps each move is a letter that spells out something?

I do not have immediate access to a Risk Board to try this out, but wanted to throw it out there to see if it might help.

gamegirl, if you have a look at this thread here, CT updated and gave us a bit hint on how to use the numbers, and they are actually pathways on the map of Perplex City.

I know we are getting close with the risk connection, after reading into Library of Babel and working out my own assumptions, it seems that using the last number in the number string to determine the territory would be a wise move, as the fact that all the Soutern Hemisphere's seem to be combined could be linked to the general consensus that the cube is in the "Northern Hemisphere" of the world Rolling Eyes , so with that in mind, and because I believe these last numbers determine which territory the player chooses. Any number string ending with a "1" I will discard, now I think that there could be a link in the middle section as to what territory each player has in that section, and I think it could be linked to the "number strings paths" as these have some part in the Cube's Location as shown by "pathways" on LoB site, and the fact that some members have been able to link this to the letters given on the movie.

I have tried taking the Letters obtained from the pathways and tried to link them with the territories left over, but have had no such luck, it looked promising in that 4 territories start with the letter "S" in the Northern Hemisphere and there are 4 "I"s from the pathways of the Northern Hemisphere cards, but the rest fell apart.

I could add the other 14 territories back in and see what I come up with, but I will probably do this tomorrow

I think the fact that the 1-343-2 is in BOLD on card #250 'Maneuvers' could mean that this Territory is the key to the cube, either in an attacking sense or a defending sense, which would to me puts the cube in any region from North America, and also either Iceland or Kamchatka Very Happy

Knowing me Im probably miles away from the whole thing Razz
