I thought a bit more about the magician outfit. Somehow the length of the stick is irritating me. I'd more associate a such long stick with a dancer (or a group of dancing girls) than with a magician. magicians usualle use smaller sticks...

ok I'm hooked, I have yet to be able to watch the videos and whatnot due to the firewalls at work, but I'm starting to look over that notebook image. I'll see what words I can pull out -maybe it'll help

some of what I get from the green words:

Event Horizon (these are the last two words on the right side of the image next to the top right equation).

Topaz (seen in same phrase as Event Horizon and the first word of the top phrase) *could be "topaz time" which would be similar to the line on the right the word below topaz appears to be time while the word above topaz there appears to be attempt

Attempt (?)
Time (twice)

Who has laptops and what are their plans?

Check out the last page 88 or so of the Neowin forum. Here is a list of everyone who's recieved a laptop blogged by Amit Agarwal and posted on neowin.

[edit - so it is easier to know where on neowin it is posted, and provide the direct link to the blog post by it's original author - kona]

 Completely random...

I don't know if this has been pointed out (I'm no good at arg's, I hope this can help someone who is...)

Loki is a figure in Norse mythology, associated with mischief, tricks, etc.
(Magician? Vanishing? Hrm...)

Also, did anyone check out that pixelly thingy in the video that was mentioned earlier? I would, but I have no idea how...I do know that things can be hidden in the code though, so somebody...?

Seriously, I'm terrible...and I just thought the Loki reference was concidental, even if it's not, it's probably not helpful...just wanted to point it out...

Hi brad - it's usually a good idea to read everything posting in the thread. You are thinking along the lines of possible clues in the video - good thing for ARG playing. But the relationship of Loki to Norse mythology and the pixelation on the video have been noted days ago....

At this point of the puzzle trail/game (cause it's really not a true ARG) we seem to be in a holding pattern.....this is like a pre-game warm up to get the community to sit up & take notice.

There is a definite pattern to finding those webpages on vanishingpointgame.com. Anything else from the video is probably to set up Loki's backstory (she is smart, well read, has a photographic memory, likes chocolate), where she is going to be at the end of the first countdown (Bellagio Fountains at 6:30p) and probably what she is going to be wearing (black suit, white gloves, top hat, long magicians wand). There may be pocket watches, a puzzle box, time contraints, puzzles, knowledge, ??? involved in the undertaking at the fountains....or just could be a big announcement that starts the real game (and then we'll wish we were home online instead if that is where it's being played out).

Oh, and she likes the complementary hotel chocolate.

*konamouse wonders if 42 is laughing their heads off at all the wild spec about the notebook, the candy, and winning a trip to the ISS????
If Alternate Reality Games interest you....check out the articles on www.unfiction.com, ARGN.com and the archives of previous ARGs.

If you planning on playing, may I suggest doing the easy & quick forum registration (then you can have a nifty LITTLE avatar, signature file, and be able to find, comment, edit your own posts Smile

Well...

I'm not really very good...
And yeah, sorry, I didn't realize that I hadn't seen the first few pages.
Oops... Sad
If I really decide to get into it I'll register, I had considered it...the thing is, I could only help on the forum, I couldn't do events etc.
And the whole time/space/vanishing/light speed seems to be the proper angle to approach it from IMHO, based on the clues, although this has already been noted...I just wanted to back it Very Happy
I don't think I'll help out any, at least not until after the event when things (hopefully) pick up, but I still thing someone should check out the video...
Okay, I'm done now...

[edit to combine 3 posts into 1 rambling thought - kona]

Oh...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I forgot to mention, two things, proly not very helpful...

She said in the video that if someone wanted help they could search for the vanishing point, well, this is probably irrelevant but here's the wikipedia disambiguation for "Vanishing Point" (probably already explored, sorry if so)

And the guy in the frame with the extension cord, it has been mentioned that this is probably a slip, but I don't think so, because his arms are at his sides and relaxed, I don't think he would be standing there like that in the shot. IMHO he is important somehow, so you guys might examine that. Again, excuse me if I'm just going back over stuff, I'm not very attentive to detail and I forget things easily so this might have already been explored.

Kay thanks bye.

I probably shouldn't post until AFTER I'm done researching
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One last thing to note, may or may not be important to someone or anyone, but antepenultimate means third to last essentially, and the Antepenultimate page is the third to last if we consider the File page second to last and Zenith the last. Zenith also means the highest point, which would fit the last page of this pre-game. Which leaves the Circumambulation page after that. Circumambulate means to walk around something in a circle, which may or may not be important. Anyways, I don't know if any of this is important or relevant, I just wanted to get it out there. And yes, after all, I think I will register, but not just yet, I really need some sleep...till tomorrow then

Why would they return the laptops to Microsoft?

Hey,

Does anyone know what is flashing on the page "http://vanishingpointgame.com/CIRCUMAMBULATION/"? As I was watching this page on IE 6 I noticed the times change to words than back to times. Could this be another clue? Just curious to see if someone has seen this yet or not?

I don't see it. Maybe a quirk in your computer software?

As for wether we'll see more puzzles, we'll just have to wait and find out.

Right ... but if the game hasn't really started yet, which it's pretty clear it hasn't, and if the events on the circumambulation page are open to the public, than wouldn't it stand to reason that they would be logical places to have a trailhead?

By the way, I'll be at the Seattle event.

I checked the source code, and there isn't anything written in to cause this to happen.

I swore that I wouldn't get involved in another ARG so soon, but I can't resist this one. Puzzles and free stuff..what's not to like?!

So we're just waiting on keys for now?

Cooool. I didn't notice that, but you may be on to something. The page titles names might have significance...

They can count as a trailhead, but more than likely, not many new players will get pulled into the game by the events. Especially compared to the pictures on the IE Blog and such. Of course, this all depends on what will happen at the event. I'm sure that if 42 wanted to, they could make the event really huge and attract a lot of attention (and thus, new players). Trailhead is often used to just refer to the first couple things that bring players in, not so much the ones later as the game progresses. Oh, and welcome to Unfiction!

That and for the 8th for our merry band of Konas and company to meet up with Loki (presumably) at CES.

I just figured it as a hint that we were in fact done with the pre-game and, unless there's something we missed, we can kick back until the event. But you guys are the smart ones, I'm just trying to pitch in...

P.S. I'm gonna register after I post this...
