...and we're back! Foo just updated his blog with information about the takeover. Brackin and Phil are MIA, and Alex has started his own company, Wright Industries.

Sounds like it's time to start contacting people again.

This "new" Foo sounds a whole damn lot like the Foo-ture version of him. Also I'd caution people to blindly relay information from Phil and Adam to him as he requests. He's got my suspecion up again, and I think we need to be selective of what he learns from us.

But sounds cool that we'll be getting our agent tasks soon =)

Looking at Foo's signature on his latest blog, and seeing Defence-Corp spelled with a C instead of S makes me wonder if it was simply a typo, or if this signifies the corporation is being made to be different that the Defense-Corp in the future.

I'm assuming that C is supposed to be an S.

however he does consistantly spell it correctly throughout the rest of the blog, I can only assume it is a typo

Is it significant that the original company name was "Defensecorp" and now he refers to it as"Defense-Corp, Inc."?

I think Defense Corp and Defense-Corp have been used interchangably so far. the website address is with a hyphen, but the logo is with out. I can't remember exactly but I believe that variuos characters have used both versions while naming the company so far.

I've shot out E-mails to Alex and Phil's E-mail adresses so far, wanting them to get back in touch with me. I don't trust foo over a doorstep.

In short, I doubt it tells anything. But I'll give the long answer too. Scroll past this...I'm only doing this because it's been a while since the last update involving action on our part.

Incorporated (Inc.) is just another way of indicating that a company is a corporation (Corp). So does it tell us anything more about Defense-corp? Not really, although it implies "Corp" shouldn't be expanded to "Corporation" when you're reading the name.

It would sound fairly redundant...Defense Corporation Incorporated.

Mostly, corporations just provide certain legal benefits...it creates a fictional entity to act as the "owner" (responsibility for debts, developing a credit history, paying taxes, stuff like that) and makes certain things like transferring ownership easier.

Interestingly, I'm not sure the name would pass the corporation naming rules...you need three things...a Distinctive element, a Descriptive element, and a legal ending. Unless they want to stretch it and claim "Defense" is their business (which doesn't mesh with Foo's description), they only have two out of three ("Defense-corp" as Distinctive, and "Inc." as the legal identifier).

They can do it...it just makes getting sued for unfair competition more likely (a big fight of that type involves Apple Computers and Apple Records, and they FOLLOWED the naming rules)

Ok, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if it was significant or not.

I can confirm what Wabo's posted. Just got an email from Foo regarding the first "assignments" being released this week.

What these assignments are, what they have to do with anything, and whether or not I actually want to be doing them is an entirely different story.

I have not received any communications regarding assignments. Wonder if that means anything? It could refer to my HacktheFeed rating. Maybe only the "reds" with a lot of "credits" and "karma" will receive first assignments?

I don't think anyone's gotten assignments yet.

Blog says later.

I was referring to this: friscodude "just got an email from Foo." I didn't get an email. Didn't know if that is important or not.
