Thanks - in a forum like this it's easy to forget we don't all speak the same language. UK & US english are more different than you might think!

No worries, you'd be in good company. I'm a retentive geek, and I freely admit it.

Does anyone here have the "Cryptic" application that uses .ypt extensions? I know it uses the Blowfish algorithm, and was written by Kenth Nasstrom in Sweden. I don't have it, but I was thinking that some of the Sylvie ypt files might be decryption phrases for something.

I tried some of them with JPHSWIN on a lark with some of the JPEGs, but didn't find anything.

Getting back to the point Wink

I've had a look at the files, and there's a couple of odd things here. That pattern of repeating 0x14's appears in all of the files I've checked from the CD. Looking at some other random images from my PC, I'm seeing repeating 0x20's. It might be something to do with the source of the images I guess, or it might be significant?????

The other thing I noticed in all of the files I looked at is a repeating sequence that I'll try to describe. As an example, from Jesse.jpg, after the previously mentioned 0x14's and then a bit of expected random (or is it....?) data, you see the following sequence:

16 17 18 19 1A
25 26 27 28 29 2A
34 35 36 37 38 39 3A
43 44 45 46 47 48 49 4A
53 54 55 56 57 58 59 5A
63 64 65 66 67 68 69 6A

etc - all the way up to 0xF3 - 0xFA. A couple of odd things. Firstly, being in hex, you'd expect the last digit in each sequence to go up to F - but they stop at A, or 10 in decimal. The other thing is the obvious point that they don't start at 1. Finally, on all of the CD files I've looked at there is a variation on this pattern. Obviously I've inserted my own line breaks Wink

I've not seen this pattern in any of the (admittedly few) other image files that I've checked on my computer, so it may be important. Then again, this could be me finding another straw to clutch at Laughing

Any of the crypto experts out there see anything here that could be useful?
