So, in just a few hours we will have our first live event, and there's no telling what will happen after that.

Since this is our first time, I've got a few suggestions to help us keep things organized.

Use this thread for any major updates related to the Vegas event. Everything should fit in here, unless it really requires a new thread. A rot puzzle can be solved in one post, but a really big puzzle which requires online/offline coordination might require a new thread.

Live updates are best left for IRC. To keep the noise ratio down in here, join us in #vanishing on the chat-solutions.org IRC server, if you aren't there already.

I'm sure there will be a lot of speculation and discussion going on initially, and two-way discussions should go on in chat, not on the forums.

It might also be useful to mention you are posting about a major update in chat, so that several people don't duplicate the same information.

In any case, use good judgment and do not rush to post new threads, or even updates--there's no glory in being the first to post. Give it some time and let us digest the information as it comes.

 		Please, can we keep these threads on-topic? As Ehsan said, this thread should be used for major updates related to the Vegas event. Talking about how we should plan for the event would be better placed in the Live Event Coordination thread. Things are going to be crazy enough tonight without having to wade through a hundred posts from people just chiming in with no pertinent (or duplicated) information.

Also, if you haven't taken the time, please register on the boards. Besides being able to customize your avatar and sig, you can also edit your posts people can reach you through the Private Message system which can greatly cut down on the noise in the threads.

 		Fair enough Rowan.
I figured the video camera was a fairly important item, considering the last two lines of the CES show, the production notes are now fully understood. These two lines seem to point out that something important will be projected onto the water itself or something nearby.

If I'm right, a video camera would be essential and the post said nothing about it, so I figured I would remind whoever is looking at the thread. I mean, maybe that's become standard equipment lately, but with less than a dozen people, how can a reminder in the event thread itself hurt?
And, obviously I know the benefits of registering, but I haven't signed into this account in a year, and I wasn't planning on starting now.

It's obviously a map of the Bellagio fountains with a grid around it (that I can barely make out.) I'm not sure how legit it is, nor do I know if it provides any more information than we already have.

 		UF reporter, Konashark, is currently at the Bellagio Fountains talking with an official. The official said, "This is the first and last time they will ever use the fountains as a screen."

Also, she reports the tent has been taken down and velver ropes put up.

*UPDATE 1*
5:45 PST Kona has managed to befriend members of the production company and will probably have some of the best seats available!


*UPDATE 2* 6:00 PST Kona is being interviewed by Mercury News
http://www.mercextra.com/blogs/takahashi/ will have a report & interview with Kona later this evening. It was a video interview.
She was with elan, he thanked her for mentioning neowins & the
42 people thanked her for not going into details of their involvement .
She had her pic made with Elan.

 		Hourglass Puzzle Solution

This puzzle is amazingly easy.

Let -all- the glasses run out. Then flip them in this order.

1. 12 & 4
2. 4 & 7
3. 4 & 7

Done.

Then the letters "GR" "AI" "NS" show up in the hourglasses.

You're supposed to take the times mentioned in the video, then move the slider to those times to get letters. I only saw 5 times mentioned, but the answer is 6 letters.

2:30 - H
5:00 - E
1:30 - I
7:00 - S
8:00 - O

It looks like we're missing a 12:00 (and the 7 & 8 might be backwards) because the answer I got to work was helios

This one's pretty easy once you have the key. You'll need this image to decode the times: http://www.flickr.com/photos/longzheng/351179088/ -- I'll call this the "decoder"

OK, now look at all the times on the board. For instance, the first one is CASABLANCA 10:00. Look at the decoder image where 10:00 should be. There you find a 1. So, take the first character of this city -- "C".

Now do this for each of them. Leave out spaces when counting characters. You get:

10 = 1 = C
7 = 5 = A
9 = 7 = R
12 = 9 = T
5 = 12 = O
2 = 4 = G
3 = 11 = R
11 = 2 = A
4 = 8 = P
1 = 6 = H
8 = 10 = E
6 = 3 = R

And you get CARTOGRAPHER
