[GENERAL] Loki's history (chip prize info)

Might as well get an early start on this part... I was thinking while driving to work - if everything's a clue, what about Loki will we need to find out?

I'm not sure, but "Quadruple Major" doesn't sound common, and I bet not many schools would even allow it.

The only schools that I could find where majors of "Physics, Stage Arts, History" are all allowed [edit: these schools also allow multiple majors, schools that don't allow multiple majors not included] (couldn't search for anything like 'folklore', anyone know another name for it?) in the US are:

Berea College
Berea, Kentucky

Brigham Young University
Provo, Utah

Eastern Nazarene College
Quincy, Massachusetts

Gordon College
Wenham, Massachusetts

Point Loma Nazarene University
San Diego, California

Taylor University
Upland, Indiana

University of Denver
Denver, Colorado

Don't know if this will be useful, but at least we have it if needed.

Re: [VPG] Loki's history (chip prize info)

I was thinking about this too..

I think that each of the puzzle "suites" will be organized around a theme.

So on the puzzle page from last night, it said:
Quote:
Here is the first suite of puzzles, all turning around one of my obsessions.

Obviously, the obsession last night was "TIME."

I think we already have clues to the puzzle themes, which correspond to her 'obsessions' -- from both her college majors and the original video. Here are the labels for the event dates from the vanishingpoint page:

01.08 Time passes... Watches/time = Physics
01.13 Magic happens... Magic (from the vid) = Stage Arts
01.20 Memories fade... History (Herodotus) = History
01.27 People disappear... This one could be Folklore, although obviously that's a stretch.

Just throwing it out there.

Good start. We also have her GPA, 3.1416. It's Pi, rounded up, that much is obvious. Theoretically, someone with a quadruple major and a fairly dismal GPA might still be newsworthy ... nor not.

Something to think about, Alumni websites. What's notable isn't necessarily what she did in school, but what she's doing NOW, right? Smile

Something to think about, the "getting warmer" message when you e-mail her at Microsoft suggests to me that we have the right employer, but not necessarily HER e-mail account. If we find her, I think we'll be on the right track.

One last thing ... getting search results placed in Google isn't too hard, but it would be easier for Microsoft to seed them in their own search engine, donchathink?

FYI ... searches for all four majors yielded quite a few Canadian colleges and websites. Remember, this is a GLOBAL contest, so don't limit yourself to just the US.

IN the 2nd video, the pocket watch she is holdin has 4:20 for the time. Does anyone know the correct emailing format for 42 entertainment?

Physics and History are common enough.

Folklore - I knew some people who studied that at Penn - not sure what department it was in, though.

edit - yep there's a department of Folklore and Folklife:

Can't be the only one, though.

Not sure about Stage Arts at Penn, at least as a major. More research required.
And they do have theater as well, but it's called Theater Arts. So need to find a school that calls it Stage Arts.

I tried these and @42entertainment.com (the domain according to 42's site) and all were failures. amd takes longer due to their spam filtering.

She seems to pay extra attention to her glasses about halfway through the video. Then I noticed a green reflection in the lenses. Can anyone read it?

It just seems to be a green neon strip, maybe, the gap in it could be the cameraman.

I think the Green light is just the overhead lighting, you can see it more then once in her glasses.

My Question is why the close up of her feet? And do those shoes look odd to anyone else, almost look like dancers shoes.

green strip

I've got a theory that it is a green skylight or window, I'm going to check around the site for the L.A. event on Friday to see if I see something akin to that.

Look at around 40 to 41 seconds in, you can see a bright green glare in the top of the frame. It appears to just be the over head lights.
