Interesting... has anyone had a closer look at that number? It looks a bit like a date to me, but google is failing me.

EDIT:

It looks like we may be expected to interact with that address at some point. Sending an email there returns the following:

//input.core
{
Input>Received
Open:--Legacy interface
}
"Data flow through inactive port"
"Syntax Error"

and http://www.subject180287.net/ is a strange looking site with something like a clock?

EDIT: Seems like it began countdown approx. 15 minutes ago (6 pm CET) - so we're waiting for it to reach 24 hours? 60?

The site it brings up is quite interesting:

http://subject180287.net/

It brings up a Chrono Lisa applet - counting forwards...

Otherwise, main points of interest I found from the blog were two names mentioned during her stay in America in an artist community (commune?) during the 70's/80's:

Quote:
When I was really little we lived in the States but because my mum and dad were English we had our own bonfire. No one complained then because where we lived in Springs it was a pretty alternative kind of community, full of artists and writers like my parents and there were always odd things going on.....

....One of my parent's friends Kurt once chucked a load of his own books on our bonfire!

This made me think of Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle", although I can't find any reference to him living in a place called "Springs".

Also:

Quote:
.....Like when my mum and dad used to play this game with their friends where they'd make up words. Another of their friends who used to come and hang out in our kitchen was Joseph. They made up this word Voiphe. I don't know where it came from but it ended up being the name of my teddy bear.

No hits on "Voiphe", just found it to be an odd aside in the blog. And lastly, several mentions of her tutor, Professor Wilson.

2nd reply

If you try to reply to the 2nd email recieved (after replying to the first one)

After clicking 'reply', the email address in the "to" spot (before you hit send) is

INVALID_ADDRESS@.SYNTAX-ERROR.

Even though the adress the 2nd email was still sent from coreSPLATsubject180287.net

try it.

Anyone else notice something weird about the applet?

Meh, you can't see it right now - the minute ring thing just reset for me, but a little while ago it was almost full, and when the minute ring thing was full too, it looked like there was a path for a third ring to come in. Does anyone know what I mean?

... I dunno, might just be something with the script or whatever (especially since I haven't even looked at anything else about the script, heh ^_^). But it just stood out to me.

Yep, there are meant to be 3 rings. An hour ring, a minute ring, and a second ring.

Either they've buggered it up, so it doesn't show the hour ring or they did that on purpose for some reason.

Edit:
Well, I've found the website they ripped off the cat's image from for their video: Razz

Well, if you open up the source code for that page, you can see that they've set certain variables to 0, including the hour ring. Don't know why :s

Well spotted, indeed they've set it so the hour hand doesn't work... I'm not completely sure, but would possibly tweaking the source code allow the connection to be approved?

i.e adding an hour or something.

Edit:
I've sent Eva an email.
Also, I watched the blog video again, and it seems like she knows more than she's letting on... perhaps I'm just misinterpreting her

It seems to me that the clock is set for London time. Currently it is 00:38 there (as I post this)

Those variables are the colors of the different clock elements (in RGB-values) - (0,0,0)=black. So the hour-ring is not meant to be seen ...

Inspired!

I googled Schrodinger and february 1887 and came up with this:

Wiki Link

He was born in 1887 - August though. However, if you compare his BD 120887 with our 180287 it's remarkabley similar - I know how easy it is to transpose a couple of numbers(did it several times yesterday with a licence key).

I knew there would be a Schroedinger connection somewhere! Well done you! Now we just need to figure out how this relates to the Core, and what, if any, Input we can give it to solicitate a response.

yeh, nice one. A perfect number anagram linked in such a way would be one heck of a coincidence.

Edit: no luck with emailing the birth date to core, auto response with same old:
//input.core
{
Input>Received
Open:--Legacy interface
}
"Data flow through inactive port"
"Syntax Error"
