Cup and Balls

The answer to Tale of Two Brothers is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
AMAZE
, though I have no idea how they got to that with only four cards at the end.

Anyone think that the cards linking to the puzzle are meaningful in any way?

They are:

Ace of hearts
Two of clubs
Three of clubs
Four of diamonds
Five of clubs
Six of diamonds
Seven of hearts
Eight of clubs
Nine of diamonds
Ten of spades
Jack of hearts
Queen of Diamonds

Solves so far:

Rabbit Trail (not explained though)
Posters
Mind Reader
X-ray Cards
Tale of Two Brothers (explained below by Shad0)
Gravity Lock
Domino

There were five cards. As a result of steps 8-11, there was a single face-up card in the face-down pile. Deuce placed it in position #4 in step 16, before his brother turned over the other four cards.

(I was about to ask if you knew what the "correct order" for the deck was... and then I noticed that the puzzle appears to have been edited. It originally said that Deuce put the deck in the correct order -- whatever that was -- at the top of the second left-hand page, but now it's gone. Hmmph.)

Headliner

Edit: Might as well post another intermediate step:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The semaphore from Headliner spells OPPOSITE

And as soon as the clue from Sydney went up, the solve:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Skywriting says DARK, so answer is LIGHT

Clue for Headliner was DARK.

Opposite of Dark is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
LIGHT
. That's the answer.

Heh, beat me by a minute.

Lining up names so far

Fellow named Howard Thurston used to make a horse disappear. That would give us COI_S for that first complete row reading down. Can anyone think of a magician who is particularly well known for making coins disappear?

Current train of thought at Neowin is that Jim Steinmeyer is a common link between many of the illusions. Also, someone claims to have solved it but can't remember what he put in that did it.

Re: [PUZZLE] [Jan 13] Box 2 - Magic Happens
[SOLVED] Seven Card Monte

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You can flip each card by clicking on one of its pips. Now, imagine each card as a 3x3 grid, numbered 1 through 9. The active pips will be 877-4786. [I did not figure this part out, but regretfully I didn't catch the name of whoever did.] The skywriting clue ("263-") goes between, giving us a number to call: 1-877-263-4786.

Loki has a message there, asking us what disappeared on Halloween, 1926, at 1:26 p.m.., in Room 401, Detroit. That is when and where Harry Houdini died, so the answer is HOUDINI.

Edit: Credit for the first part of the solve to kaz in IRC.

Further edit 'cos I don't know the difference between 3x3 and 9x9

Yup. T. Nelson Downs. Credit to optech in IRC.

What I have so far

Taking the number of appearing things as the number and using that to index into what is missing spells SMOKE COMIC:

1 3 Roses
2 1 Moon
3 3 Shoes
4 5 Clocks
5 2 Bells
6 5 Handcuffs
7 1 Owl
8 4 Trumpets
9 2 Birds
10 1 Card

I don't think the number is a phone number - I tried it and 'this subscriber is not accepting calls' was the message.

Bugles, not trumpets. 3 doves, not 1 bird. That should give you the answer within 3 guesses.

Here is the final answer but no idea how it was solved:

Cups and Balls

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
STAGE

If you have them all answered you get a video like before which takes us to:

http://www.vanishingpointgame.com/collectionplate/

which in turn seems to be a record of the number of white boxes you have clicked in.

edit to just add a note instead of a brand new post - 18 white boxes between box 1 and box 2. -- aliendial
