[PUZZLE??] How to "test" what AI Man's purpose is?

Well, she's given us an hour to try and figure this out while she goes and makes dinner (now I'm hungry Sad

). My questions are: are we supposed to help him get a purpose, show him what his original purpose was, or are we supposed to help him evolve beyond needing a purpose?

Diandra just got done communicating with Beth and actually gave a pretty good possibility about what AI Man's purpose might be: tracking stuff, specifically people.
So, although Beth might use AI Man for her own 'selfish' purpose of tracking down Avery et al., it's possible AI Man's original purpose was as a tracking program. Wasn't this the original suggested purpose for the Minotaur/.bh?

They should go to see Wongmo.
Maybe he will help them find and develop the True Self, the Higher Self of the AI.

That's it! Beth has to write a dolphin program for AI Man, and then take him to see Fiona/Wongmo/Kane! It's so obvious now! Wink

I wonder, though, would AI Man require an AI Wongmo?

I like the idea of trying to find out the extent of his knowledge. Here's just some things that are running through my mind right now:

What does he remember about things he's done in the past? He knew what the Monitors were...

What does he know about the history of the world? About Art/Music? About geography?

What about self-awareness questions? Does he have emotions/feelings? Can he be happy/sad?

What is the first thing he does when he encounters an anomaly?

He saved Miss Kinross (Texel), perhaps he's a "humanitarian" program? Maybe he's Superman? Wink

Lets not forget he has a purpose but he does not know what it is.

We know he can alter time etc. change realities etc but what would he do with those abilities.

I think this AI guy is linked to Avery and his purpose is to find James and then he can have the rest of his program fixed

Edit - Can we get Beth to suggest to AI man that he contacts Texel and her friends so they can assist in defining his purpose as they have been chasing whomps

Just a thought... Just a thought ...

We're starting to run out of time here guys and gals! Are we any closer to coming to a consensus on what AI Man's purpose might be, or indeed how Beth could test for it?

EDIT: My whole body clock is all confused; it's 3:30 AM in the morning where I am (thank god it's the weekend!). When exactly did Beth stop communicating?
