[Gray District] Jammed [SOLVED]
can someone upload a picture of the solve circled?

Once more, getting up what I managed to grab from the Gray District before I lost my Green status.

For this puzzle, you're supposed to find the name of somebody...or something.

This is the text that accompanies the image:

Quote:
Recently, a mid-level DefenseCorp sureveillance technician contacted an Underground agent and expressed interest in "defecting" from the white district. He has witnessed too many disturbing things going on in the Corp, and he doesn't have the stomach for the job any more. He knows that his only hope of staying "off the grid" for long is to get some help from the Underground after he pulls his sub-q out.

His deal was simple: if we help him run, he will supply us with the identity of a person who is connected to the Underground, but has recently sold out to the Corp. We know that they have a mole in our network somewhere, and it is imperative that we get that name ASAP.

The tech who wants to turn doesn't know this dirtbag's real name, but he has seen the mole's Underground codename, which is just as good to us.

The tech is justifiably nervous about communicating with us. His solution was this: just after 10 o'clock last night, when he sent his normal infobursts to the archives through the city's information pipeline, he attached to the burst an extra image file. This shouldn't have been noticed by anyone, mixed in with the millions and millions of files that were packed into the burst, but we were waiting for it, and pulled it off the system. He says that the codename of the mole is contained within the image somehow, disguised as part of the burst.

Here is the file we pulled off the line tonight:

To answer the question you have to give the mole's codename - you then have the opportunity to send the information to the underground or to Intellicorp.

Judging from file size etc, Gord and me talked about the information being stegged in the jpg, but I have no idea what the passcode is (I've been looking at the actual picture for help on that), but possible a Deus ex Machina or Maxine de Sauch I forgot to try those last night.

No need for de-stegging - it isn't that complicated. Just turn the image on its side so that the top edge becomes the left-hand edge. If you look closely at the black lines you should be able to make out a five letter word - that is the mole's codename.

Very good eyes, echidna!

There don't seem to be too many green karma people around and working on these, so it's good to have you with us.

For completeness sake, the answer is

My eyes must be ruined. However if you follow Echidna's instructions and rotate the image 90degrees anti-clockwise, then reduce the image height (leave the width as it is) to 50pixels it jumps out at you.

Yes. The answer is super deformed in one direction. It can be seen without the resizing, but I agree it makes it easier to see =)

As per your request, here's a picture of the solve. Since images can't be spoilerized, I'll attach a .zip file.

Thank you Smile . I've only recently become aware of this game so I'm just glad (and a bit surprised) to be of help really.
