phone message
HMmm

could be wrong but Loki's message is this:

Hi, this is Loki. Or rather her electronic footprint left behind on this machine.

Funny how the inanimate world retains traces of things long after they've disappeared, isn't it?.

If you're calling about the murmuring rock project, it's on hold indefinitely ... unfortunately.

Definitly sounds like it was meant to be called after she disappears in Seatle at the end of the main game.

edit -- PLEASE Search BEFORE YOU POST. THE TEXT OF THIS MESSAGE HAS BEEN POSTED TWICE. PROBABLY IN THIS SAME THREAD. - aliendial

Lupus, usually bits of the solution are hinted much earlier in the game. There is nothing more cool than figuring out the ending early from those hints. [All hail fuzzymelon2000!]

But you can make up anything - and mostly that would be a waste of time. Our challenge is to find something foreshadowed that we can tie to things we have already learned. Something that makes some sense in the context of the contest and the challenge set us by Loki.

I imagine we'll see more spec -- and more wildspec -- in the next couple weeks. And I expect that other players will happily deconstruct all that spec. We'd be interested in hearing your spec. With explanation.

deleted posts and no patience to spare

I started at the beginning and added in the clues along the way (but not the initial, w/o distractions....), i did the whois, it only re-confirms what i already figured out as the same whois is registered to vpg and is a privately set domain by same company. an email was sent to *edited*@vanishingpointgame.com and no bounce back. is that good?

I guess. How can we tell if you don't tell us what you are talking about? If you haven't noticed, we share information here. All I see is you using our information and withholding whatever you might have to contribute. If you want someone here to actually validate what you are doing, well why should they?

no, not good

This sounds harsh, but isn't meant to be: are you a native speaker of English? I ask because your posts tend to be quite vague, composed oddly, and feature many pronouns without definte referants. I'm just trying to explain some of my difficulty understanding you.

Okay, i'm sorry. Embarassed That came out way snarkier than I meant.

Anyway, you really do have to give us more information than what you are doing so far...I don't know what the hell you're talking about. If you've got a bead to the endgame, bully for you. I'm not going to try and stand in your way. I like cool stuff as much as the next dweeb, but the name of the game around here, as far as I can see, is the collective detective...we all work together to spec and solve...even the lurkers.

Stretching

I don't know NoMercyLupus...I really think you are stretching it. Rolling Eyes

http://www.loki.com as a starting point...Well, Loki (the toolbar thing) is part of Skyhook wireless, and is located in Boston, MA. They are promoting on their homepage their participation in MashUpCamp3 (the camp starts Wednesday 1/17 and ends Thursday 1/18 ) at TheHotel@MIT.

Tha MashUpCamp has its own wiki here: http://wiki.mashupcamp.com/index.php/AboutMashupCamp

The only connections I see are that the MashUpCamp is sponsored by Microsoft...but like the MIT Media Lab, it also sponsored and will be attended by many other tech companies...Also, Microsoft seems to be pretty much pimping Virtual Earth only (re: http://wiki.mashupcamp.com/index.php/MashupUMITSchedule)

I checked out TheHotel@MIT website, and I gotta say I don't see any conncetion...I mean, they have a freaking MacBook Pro displayed on their homepage...I just can't see their being any connection here to the game.

If I'm totally missing something here NoMercyLupus, please, for the Love of Nick Nolte, let US ALL know what I'm missing.

Ok, now I'm pissed
you a plant NoMercyLupus

I just saw this: loki.com/share

Are you trying to jack this thread to promote a freakin' toolbar?
Dude, say it ain't so...

edit - don't click on that link! (I broke it so you can't) AND...note that Lupus didn't give us a link to click so she didn't get any credit (assuming that was what was going on) until I clicked on it, raze - ad

Hi,

I looked in the source on the awakened page and saw where the "../images/header.jpg" so I tried
Code:
http://www.vanishingpointgame.com/images/loki.jpg

that revealed this pic of Loki with her glasses pulled down. Someone somewhere mentioned the focus on her glasses in the video on the main page. Plus the pic is a little wierd with the lines through it. Any steganographers or whatever want to check the pic? Sorry if this has been mentioned before.I've read all 10 pages here and couldn't find anything. I tried .gif and .png too with no result. Can't you hide code inside a jpg? I just wondered why that image? Not a studio portrait, but a caption from the 1st movie that has a lot of emphasis on things (the book title, the wrappers on the nightstand, the sketchpad/scrapbook, etc...)?

Here's the pic if you don't want to go look for yourselves Wink

Also the whois for lokivanishes.com shows the site was created 1-3-07. Wasn't that before the game launch? Maybe it's not Out Of Game. just a thought.

[edit] However, the URL for the image on lokivanishes and everything else including hosting on it isn't the same as VPG.

Any thoughts on the picture? I tried stegdetect or somehting like that with every switch I could find in the readme and it said nothing detected. It's my 1st time trying that though so maybe I'm not doing something right. The lines in the picture shouldn't be I wouldn't think. Has this been discussed somewhere els? (referring to the loki.jpg pic)

I'm not sure!
I received several e-mail messages.

Greetings!

I received the following e-mails:

Quote:
Subject: "a pediatrician at The Children's Hospital"
Send from: Ruth Connolly [LokisubstitutesSPLATabcgiftco.com]

Message:
"I hope it will have some effect,"
said Gervasio,
part of childhood,".

The next message is from: Marlin Leblanc [inspiration'sarmchair's@aahc.com]
And the subject is: feel why not," (That quotation mark was there!)

Message: so many parents
front of get-smart
for your kids if you

Next message is from: Duncan Morton [countryside'sDaniel@abex.ru]

Subject: Dr. T. Berry Brazelton praised

Message: 5-year-old son
that they're
videos, enrichment

I thought that this might be spam, but the coincidence? It really wouldn't have phased me except Loki appears in the sender of one of the messages. Did anyone else receive these? Furthermore, these messages were sent to a new account I made JUST for this game. How could it be spam and what are the chances? I actually have nine messages from various names and with nothing more than three lines of text (different of course). Do you need those also?

Yes post all your spam please. I enjoy reading the strangly cohearant dialog that the random conversation generators make to fool the spam detection. lol. I'm kidding. Don't post it!

I think that's a coincidence m8. Loki's messages would be a little more straight forward than that. IMHO
