Yeah, but I noticed occasional spelling/grammar errors, and some of the answers seems very appropriate to the question asked... Plus, there were long pauses between comments, as though she were talking to many people at once...

I don't think that a chat bot would be that good...

i'm pretty sure statik meant others he was talking to in IRC were talking to beth through aim or yahoo, etc.

yall are gonna get tired of me saying this but one time in band camp...
Ok in CTW we dealt with a bot...
A bot can be controlled by the programmer so that if there is a question that the programmer wants to answer he can answer for the bot while the conversation is going....
ALSO
IF this is a bot one of the problems that we had with "sarah" is that if you asked her too many questions at once she would bog down and you had to wait a much longer for her to respond...
sounds like that is happening in chat with beth.
If you get beth again trying asking one question at a time and let her respond then ask your next...IF it is a bot I THINK that the questions are qued in line so she answers a question then moves on to the next person around and around...
ALSO
you would never be able to get the bot into IRC or a chat room and that looks like what is going on here too. beth isnt even aware of what a chat room is...convienient?

But as always these are spec and not neccesarrly endoursed by the sponsers or this establishment

 		Assuming you're correct, Sunny, and we were just talking with a bot, the question is, why? Are the PM's getting lazy on us, or were they just afraid that if they did it themselves, they might accidentally reveal too much information?

That's plausible... I have to totally agree with the question asking thing, though... I asked one question and then waited for a response, and eventually got one every time.

The reason I didn't think it was a bot is because I didn't see anyone that got an "off the shelf" response... Almost everything seemed different.

I dont think they are lazy I think that it is very stressful to chat with several peeps, , at once with ims all over your screen. Alot of the peeps will ask the same questions, if you read thru the posts you will see that there are many responses the same....going to eat yadda yadda, being scared not know ing where she is.... not repeated in all but most all...same endings all that. a chat bot would be very helpful for that and then a question important to the plot can be answered by the PMs when they want to.... so look for differences in the chats

When the bot was programmed the spelling/grammer errors could have occured at that time. I "started" programming one myself and whatever you type into it that is what it is gonna spit out

She kept "name dropping" coords to everyone, so I decided to ask her about it pretty abruptly without anything else to say:

She hasn't replied yet, but being how conversation goes, I'd go as far to assume that might be a hint of some sort. There is no reason to be so liberally dropping coords without there being some sort of reason for it. Someone might want to look into that, I'm not much good at puzzle solving of any kind, but I am good at talking to people and understanding specifics in words.

Maybe Beth is 'the little chat program on the screen.' The Turing Test was proposed as a way to have AI imitate human intelligence by fooling somebody into thinking they were talking via terminal to a live person, when in fact, they were having a dialogue with a machine.

 		An interesting theory heatha; I wonder, if 'Beth' does put 'AI Man' on the chat, if they would employ a different chat bot (assuming they're using chat bots of course Wink); is it possible to do that - put multiple chat bots up? I suppose if they do it from two different computers? But if they continue to use the same chat bot - but change the name - would we be able to tell if the grammar, etc. is identical?

EDIT: I'm not entirely sure where this theory is leading us, if anywhere. Aside from being an interesting insight into the thinking of the PM's and potentially fascinating footnote to our potential future book, so what if they are using a chat bot or are communicating themselves? Doesn't really help us solve any of the puzzles does it?
