Gray district Sodality puzzle

Is the solve for this something so obvious it shouldn't have to be posted here? If so, I am being dense because I can't find what it is referencing.

A lot of people haven't been able to access Sodality, so we couldn't work on it. Realizing this, if you see a question that is not posted in the forums please do so if you can. It seems to require the player to be very green.

Sodality is a flash page...when you move your arrow over certain parts of the screen, text comes up.

Quote:

What I have so Far

Sorry for the double post, but partial solve below.

OK, so Brother Theo (Brad M. Hacken is an anagram for Adam Brackin) likes Revelations, and the latin quote on the Brotherhood page is from Revelations (again).

So I checked the words if these were Chapter/Verse/Word in the Good Book and got this (using KJV since it looks like that (or hjv) is written in the book. I don't know Portuguese or Norweigan or Korean.

Got this:
1. HIS THIRD KINGDOM FELL
2. THE OLD LION
3. KING CAST TO ISLAND ONLY TO REIGN AGAIN

I think we need to find out who these are referring to....#3 is probably Napoleon although that's not biblical....

#2 might be Judah, who was known as "The Lion" in the bible if i recall correctly.

The text shown is John 3:16 in several languages. Here's the English translation:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The prophecy of John ("Author's Prophecy HJV") is Revelations, of course. I have no idea about the HJV...as you said, notgordian, KJV would be King James Version. But to my eyes that's clearly HJV...who knows, maybe it's just another typo or mistake?

Just throwing out a couple of ideas for what the sentences could mean. Ideally, biblical references would do it but somehow I don't think so (Napoleon fits too well)

I - His Third Kingdom Fell
Hitler - As the head of the Third Reich, this might be a WWII reference.

II - The Old Lion
Judah - In Genesis (49:9) when Jacob is giving his sons prophecies of birthright, Judah is described as "a lion's whelp"..."as an old lion, who shall rouse him up?"

III - King Cast to Island Only to Rule Again
Napoleon's exile to the island of Elba only to return and rule for 100 days fits this clue fairly well.

These answers didn't work together, but some of them could be right.

Good to see I wasn't very far off. I was going through the book of Revelation. I used the online version where you can see three different versions side by side, King James, New International and another one, but I didn't come up with those words. I guess I read it wrong.

Ok, looking around (slow day at work for the moment) I found this reference:

Daniel 2:39
KJV: And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

Also found this:
The Old Lion
When Theodore Roosevelt went to bed on the evening of January 5, 1919 at his home on Long Island, he was suffering from a particularly nasty bout of Malaria ...Before the sun rose, he fell into unconsciousness, never to awaken.

His family wired the news, "The old lion is dead."

And this:
T.H. Huxley
The old lion

With a radical home secretary making Huxley an inspector of fisheries in 1881...

This:
January 10, 2007
The Old Lion Roars (Bill Press)
@ 12:10 pm
Good for Teddy Kennedy. The old lion of the Senate has roared again, showing Democrats the best way to stop George Bush from sending more troops to Iraq.

I have to agree with both your points...I hope it's not just a matter of finding the correct phrasing for the answer. I also like WolfHawk's Roosevelt idea.

Two more things to keep in mind:

1. 'Sodality':
Mind the name of this puzzle! Maybe we are looking for three people who have something in common (could be as simple as being figures from the Bible, could be they all were some sort of ruler, could be something else...).

2. 'Caveat Ipse Dixit':
You get this when you put in an incorrect answer. Roughly translated this would mean 'Take heed that/if/how he himself said it.' This could point to Bible citations again.

Anyway, here's a link that might help with the Bible references, particularly the lion.

Alexander the Great was the ruler of the Third Kingdom, that of brass. Google "Third Kingdom"+Alexander for more info.

Ok so this thing has been running round and round in my head. I think I have an idea although I haven't yet been able to get it to work. So, here I am. I'll try to explain my thought process a bit; maybe that will help kick start something.

Quote on opening page is from the Vulcan (Latin) bible. Check the Revelation verses there. Nothing jumps out.
Someone earlier mentioned three leaders maybe?
Author prophesied - John Book of Revelation? Brother Theo Poem? "Three stand against one."
"Deus" is underlined in the portuguese translation on the picture. Check the Portuguese bible translation. Nothing in particular.
Third kingdom - Alexander the Great? Hitler?
Old Lion - Judah? Theodore Roosevelt?
King cast to island - Napolean? Napoleonic Code?
Oh look, we have Theo and Theodore. Hmmm, Theophilus?
Alexander, Alexander where have I seen that here? Oh yeah! Alexis Wright!
*BANG* Mustafa! The old lion in The Lion King!!!
Are our three entries supposed to be the three "founders" of Deus City???!!!

However, I have tried so many combinations of Alex, Theo, Foo, Mustafa, Brackin, Wright, Fujimoto, Brother Theo, Mustafa Fujimoto, Alexis Wright, and so on ad nauseum that my brain hurts.

So I throw this out to my compatriots to see if your collective brains can do better than my ailing one.

I like where you're going with that idea, WolfHawk--we just need to iron out the relationships better to refine the guesswork (damn Foo for having so many pseudonyms)

I. As you said, this is probably referring to Alex Wright....although there is the potential (possibly) of this referring to the fallen third member of the DefenseCorp triumverate, Phil--of the three, he was the only one definitely there for the company's fall.

II. This one is, as you said, also up in the air. It could be a Theophilus reference, it could be a Foo reference...I can't think of an alternative if we're working on your Founders theory (although I'd assume Foo would be the more likely)

III. This is the weakest link of it all--how to link the Napoleon answer to one of our characters. It might even be Meri, who has manifested her appearance as some form of religious personage (the church in Old Downtown is named after her)--there are probably possibilities outside of Napoleon, but I've stuck myself in that mindset.

I'm going to try and use the IG Forum to fish for a hint on this one...just need to figure out a way to phrase the request in a way that doesn't make me cringe. (A lot of this interaction would be easier if we could find out a way to contact Brother Theo / Adam Brackin via email or nonexistant Private Messaging.......Theo's profile says we should know how to contact him, but Brackin hasn't been responding to emails)

I also tried using the colors associated with the people (Foo=White, Brackin=Black, Alex=Grey) to no avail.

I was thinking about that myself. I found myself in the Sodality section at the same time Brother Theo was in there. I referred to him in an IG forum post to see if he would respond. My intention was to ask for a hint if he did, but he didn't seem to want to talk.

I forgot to mention I tried Phillip and Adam mixed in there with the others since both names are biblical. I also thought Phil might be considered "cast to an island" when he was in the restricted compound.

Yeah, I tried to do the same with a couple of posts peppered around the forums...unfortunately, all I've gotten so far is increased prestige (that's right...+1 prestige per post!)

Hmm, maybe I will try that too. Even if it doesn't work we might get points for trying?

I'm wondering how I managed to get a forty-oneth (?!) of a credit! I haven't bought anything. At least not that I know of.

This could be a hint from Brackin, this could mean something else. But in The Brotherhood (Grey District) forum, Theophilus writes

Quote:
Subject: Truth
Romans 4:6

If you look up the biblical passage (KJV), it reads the following
Quote:
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works

This could be a warning to avoid Foo's karma-hack through inaction, it could be a warning to avoid solving puzzles without thinking about why. It also might be a hint on Sodality, though, which is why I posted it here.

I already tried various permutations of David as the Old Lion--also, remember that David Maxwell was one of the original team members.
