Absolutely, this has been worth the praise. Especially as the PMs seem to be paying attention to player feedback, i.e. the recent blog updates during "down-time".

I wrote Amanda to ask her if she's heard from the skulls:

I wrote:

Amanda,

Hey there... I just wanted to ask if you are still
hearing the skulls? Missy, the first Chosen, has
posted on her blog that the skulls are no longer
talking to her, and so I wanted to ask.

Hope you are good!

dante

Amanda wrote:

I have not heard anything from them either. Is that a bad thing? Is this the "silence before the storm"?

I must admit, I am getting an uneasy feeling. While I was affected for only a short while (thanks to you and your friends), I wonder if my help is still needed? Kind of makes me feel like I'm dating again - just use me for what you want and then throw me away like a piece of garbage.

And when I say "you", I don't mean you. I mean those skulls.

Anyway, I'll let you know if something pops up.

Hugs and Kisses;

Amanda

I got an email from Amanda:

Amanda wrote:

And just as you say those things I get a nice little e-mail from the skulls with a strange message attached to it. I can't make heads or tails of it, but I am going to put it up on my wordpress blog as soon as possible. I have to run an errand really quick and then I'll put it up.

Hugs and Kisses;

Amanda

And sure enough, this is now on her wordpress blog:

Quote:

You have got to be kidding me…

Well, it looks like those freaks of nature (meaning the skulls) are not quite finished using me as a communication tool - emphases on the word "tool". I wonder what would happen if I chose not to be their delivery girl? Then what? What is the worst that could possibly happen because I, a normally strong willed woman, simply made the decision not to be a tool for what ever it is that these little turds are trying to accomplish?

But, as strange as it may seem, I am quite content with being a "tool" at this stage in my life. As sad as it may seem, it is the only thing that has given my life a purpose and meaning. And, truth be told, it is actually quite exciting.

Right… so the topic at hand… I received this message via e-mail from my dear previously unwanted/intruding cranumian* guest:

Code:

aO#hd6W*VaH4EdO$6(DaO98DhIEkcaHTo2vHeiaNGo7w*v@aN59EiL7SEo
aOMD4beUDaMEiH2oWKaP3DM6eIdWa*Vo#4NofaO3FnIEhdanOk57WH%o
aO3Gn%6ismaN$4i#h65dOamHE3oWmRatK25eMFBoaQWok34rHFaOFm2$F(J
a3ORn#*f(ahRid5oks

I can't make heads or tails of it, myself. I figure that if it has numbers in it, you have to be some sort of "mathemagician" to figure it out.

*cranumian is a word that I just made up and probably (more then likely) doesn't mean anything in particular. It was simply something that I wrote that made the most sense for me to say at the time. To me it means "made only of skull". Kinda cool, huh?

I edited to put the skullcode in code text.

EDIT: I sent the code to Tyi, since he may be some kind of mathemagician, even though he works at Taco Bell.

Each line begins with an 'a,' if that means anything significant.

Edit: Good idea, dante--I just thought about Tyi myself.

/me really likes the word mathemagician

Not only does each line starts with an a, it's also used as a 'block seperator':
Code:
code with numbers removed and spaces inserted.
aO#hdW*V aHEdO$(D aODhIEkc aHTovHei aNGow*v@ aNEiLSEo
aOMDbeUD aMEiHoWK aPDMeIdW a*Vo#Nof aOFnIEhd anOkWH%o
aOGn%ism aN$i#hdO amHEoWmR atKeMFBo aQWokrHF aOFm$F(J
aORn#*f( ahRidoks

removed numbers:
6 46 98 2 7 597
4 2 36 4 3 57
36 465 3 25 34 2
3 5

So I think the numbers are not part of the code itself, but rather modifiers of some sort.
Giving us 20 blocks of 8 characters, with some possible modifiers.

I also find the amount and spacing of the 'O' and 'o' highly suspicious.
If you remove the a's and numbers and replace the O's and o's with spaces you get:
Code:
#hdW*VHEd $(D DhIEkcHT vHeiNG w*v@NEiLSE MDbeUDMEiH WKPDMeIdW*V #N f FnIEhdn kWH% Gn%ismN$i#hd mHE WmRtKeMFB QW krHF Fm$F(J Rn#*f(hRid ks
which looks suspiciously like proper word spacing.

I'll keep working on it.

Sorry for double post.

After reading my post Sylvia on IRC solved it for us!

If you remove all the numbers, and then substitute each character you need the shift key for with a 1 and the rest with a 0 you get
01100111 01101111 01101100 01100100 01100101 01101110 01110011 01101011 01110101 01101100 01101100 00101110 01101000 01101001 00110101 00101110 01100011 01101111 01101101 00100000

Which is binary for goldenskull.hi5.com

So we have found the Golden Skull at http://goldenskull.hi5.com

No idea what the numbers mean though. Perhaps we'll need them for the puzzle that may be posted today on Golden Skull's journal.
Currently it says:

OK! This is new, and special. Went to Tyi's page to check it out, and found this instead:

Not sure what it does yet, but I'll be playing with it and reporting back. Also, Xanga must be pretty cool to let you set up something like that.

[Edit]: My skillz at computrons aren't great, but this may just be a blip. I didn't see anything glaringly obvious in the code, and the available commands don't seem to do much that is news-worthy. Somebody else want to check it out?

Yeah, I am coming to that sad conclusion. Oh well - I'll find some other way to contribute in a meaningful way to this endeavor. Smile

It's faux-unix. I just saw it on someone else's blog (although they've since changed it back to a "normal" blog structure).

If you use the help command it'll give you the commands necessary to navigate the content.

that's not hex. looks like md-5 hash. however they aren't md-5 hash.

they're sqaures on a chess board.

since some squares appear multiple times, ie a6, either they are modifiers which need to be removed, or each letter-number combination represents it's own letter.
