missing clues from National Gallery

When I went to the National Gallery I got chatting to two blokes who were taking photos next to the projrctors.
They said that they worked in the gallery and that the proposed picture of the light display was different to what was actually up there.
They gave me a picture of what vpg had said would be up and there is an extra clue!
possibly this clue got dumped or moved to another location, but out of interest here is the picture they gave me.
Right now to go look at the website! Yay!

That picture is nice swag! The "extra" clue looks like the three leaf clover at the top of the picture which got moved to the side for the actual projection.

Now that you say - it does have the same loops, but its squashed up and on its side so I didn't recognise it. Damn, I thought I had something to contribute for once! ah well...

Answer for Composers is Los Angeles

Got this from the neowin forum. It's the birthtown of Dvorak.

edit - reiuwa of neowin, hanging out with many neowin and UF types in #composers found it by giving up on matching the music to the composers and then finding the composer of the extra line of music and instead just hacked at birth cities. Per the comment below it may not even be Dvorak. Heck, maybe it's John Williams - some composer born in LA Smile -- aliendial

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Answer: Los Angeles

Birthplace of Dvorak

I was going to wait until we had more, but we're not making much progress on Composers. So far we have identified:

ETA - Finally started using http://www.musipedia.org/# (thanks argonaut!)

Song 1: Mozart? (from musipedia)
Song 2: Bach? (from musipedia)
Song 3: Beethoven - Ode to Joy
Song 5: Mozart - Einklein Nacht musik
Song 6: Bach - Minuet in G?
Song 9: Ravel - Bolero
Song 13: Bach - Minuet in G
Song 15: Bizet - Toreador

I'm trying to midi-fy the notes, and will keep updating until either everything is transcribed, or someone solves the puzzle:

http://bsctx.com/song1.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song2.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song4.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song7.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song8.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song9.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song10.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song11.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song12.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song13.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song14.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song16.mp3
http://bsctx.com/song17.wma

Edit: CLUE -- "City of Birth" - with the thought that one of the songs will be from an unlisted composer, and the answer will be the birth city of that composer...

And a photoshopped image of the notation:

song 7 is when the saints go marching in.

erronous data...

It seems that the composer Dvorak was not born in LA.

I think the answer is related to Dr. August Dvorak. He is the guy who invented the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard, wich is an alternative to the QUERTY keyboard.

Then what would that have to do with composers??

well..I was thinking of: composers -> classical music -> piano -> keyboard...
I am not the one who found the answer, I'm just trying to find a link

Don't you think it's more likely to be another composer born in LA that we haven't thought of? Or a mistake about which dvorak is which? Razz

Dvorak...

Dvorak was distantly related to the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák

Re: LASER [partial solve]
Rest of solve

Thanks to the clue from Canada:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The lasers spell out SECOND, and the clue is "DAY'S WORTH," and there are 86400 seconds in a day, so "86400" is the answer.

Dvorak...

Oh dear..... I should have known dvorak was not from Los Angeles... Just took the first post that appeared in google after typing Dvorak birthplace.. I assumed the highest ranking document would be the composer and since I was rushing fast through my list of composers, didn't check... What an amazing coincidence... Now what is the real link? I'm convinced this could not be a mistake on their part... could it? Apologies, apologies, apologies.. a completely unintended 'error' on my part...

Re: DISCO INFERNO
Rest of solve

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The clue in Canada is the record Feelings by Morris Albert. Our clue FLIP leads us to the B-side of that album, This World Today Is a Mess, which is the answer.
