"Dr. Smith" hit me up right after he KILLED Richie....
It's not too long , I think I'll post the whole thing without a summary.
Quote:
[21:41] drsmithoftsol: Very wise, but I am tired of your games. He smashed his phone so I smashed his spine. Its amazing what implants can do.
[21:41] *** Auto-response sent to drsmithoftsol: Time for that much needed beauty rest! Sweet dreams all
[21:42] AngryBanana1125: YOU ASSHOLE
[21:42] AngryBanana1125: you know this isn't over
[21:42] drsmithoftsol: What were you talking about I wonder.
[21:42] AngryBanana1125: wouldn't you like to know
[21:43] drsmithoftsol: Ashes, ashes, you all fall down.
[21:43] AngryBanana1125: you know you'll never win - you talk a big game, but frankly I haven't been impressed
[21:44] drsmithoftsol: WHERE ARE THE PAGES MY DEAR?
[21:45] AngryBanana1125: you've now killed richie - he was innocent, why would i help you?
[21:46] AngryBanana1125: i know where they are, but i dare even you would venture up there to get them
[21:47] drsmithoftsol: Venture? I think the term "mosey" is more in order here.
[21:48] drsmithoftsol: I will make you a deal you cant refuse. Salantino's life for the fifth page.
[21:48] AngryBanana1125: well, darlin' - it doesn't matter where they are, a stark, musty hole somewhere - irregardless - you aren't getting them
[21:48] AngryBanana1125: USHAKK
[21:49] AngryBanana1125: salantino?
[21:50] AngryBanana1125: i will make you a deal - you give me sal and I will give you the 5th page.... i want to know he's safe first
[21:50] drsmithoftsol: Richie's little friend. The only one he has ever trusted.
[21:50] AngryBanana1125: look up dear - you're gonna play on MY terms now
[21:50] AngryBanana1125: NO ONE ELSE gets hurt
[21:50] AngryBanana1125: you get the 5th page
[21:52] drsmithoftsol: Perhaps my contacts in Wichita could use you, and then I hold all the cards.
[21:52] AngryBanana1125: your empty threats don't scare me - bring 'em.... i'd love to meet your contacts
[21:53] AngryBanana1125: make sure they bring beer when they show up....
[21:54] AngryBanana1125: so, my dear - while you're slow on the draw, do we have a deal?
[21:55] drsmithoftsol: No deal. I can be more creative than that. I know that Sebastian does not have the page I seek. However, we will find it, with your help or not. So long for now. But keep this in mind: we are always watching.

...Obviously I am not scared - and obviously he tried the same 'tricks' on me as well - I also prefer being called "ANG" tyvm...

Just a bit of, well whaddaya know?
Quote:
The Idea of the aevum comes from medieval thought.
Our supratemporal selfhood is not within cosmic time. Our selfhood is in the aevum, which is in between cosmic time and eternity. We should not think of aevum as a place, but as a state of being and of consciousness.
Dooyeweerd speaks of the aevum as an intermediate state between eternity and cosmic time.
Aevum Time Jump:
The Aevum time a jump takes depends only on its length. A jump of one billion years takes 7.2 Aevum-seconds. A jump of a century takes only a microsecond. Going to and from Ex Tempore appears to depend on the "radius" of the circle of time; the temporal distance seems to be the lifetime of the universe divided by 2 pi. The current universe has a lifetime of around 1014 years, producing a travel time of 31.831 hours to and from Ex Tempore.
No time passes for the moved object, even if the trip takes quite a bit of Aevum-time. Subjectively speaking all time trips are instant. The previous surroundings just fade over into the new surroundings.

Oh, that's grand. You told Dr. Smith we know their code word. Now they can select another one that we don't know.

I'm not trying to be an A-hole (or even a B-hole for that matter) but could you please explain to us why you posted that in this thread? The first half of the post is taken from a doctors webpage on Christian Philosophy & Christian Nondualism and references a Neo-Calvinist philosopher (http://members.shaw.ca/jgfriesen/Definitions/Aevum.html ) and considering that the people in GateWood don't really have much of a connection with Christianity, at least not from what I've seen so far, this doesn't appear to have much relevance..
The last half is taken from a time travel/alternate universe RPG that a student wrote (http://www.nada.kth.se/~asa/Game/Fukuyama/index.html ). Seeing as there's really no basis in hard science it seems it's just his ideas about how that might work. And it may very well be that there is some logic to his theories but once again there doesn't appear to be much relevance, at least based on what we have figured out so far. Unless you have some information about the bigger picture that the rest of us don't, this seems like speculation to me and as such should possibly have been put in its own [SPEC] thread.

SPEC SPEC, this is just SPEC…but according to answers.com, aevum is used commonly to denote the word "age" as in medium aevum or middle age.
So perhaps the omega aevum is a fancy shmancy term for "last age"
I didn't want to confuse people by making a whole new thread just for this spec, so i hope no one gets confused if I add it to this short thread here.

More spec
I saw Omega as meaning the end, and aevum in latin is age or time...
so I think Omega Aevum means literally "End Time"; and as we have a counter on the site.. also, sebastian's latest post -- since sunday is titled "Time"

Sorry private chat, and just used the first thing I could get my fingers to behave to. If I am speaking with you, I do use Ang, but I was not speaking with you. Dr. Smith knew who I meant, so no harm done.

Considering that this word was an internal code for TSOL, I strongly doubt WE would have ever heard it, so knowing it was probably not important anyways.

It is first decoded as Base 64 which gives a binary output which decodes to what Tipsila posted above, in case you were wondering HOW it was done

These are excerpts that either explain an alternate definition or put the word in context. The process of story creation is complex and personal. Much research goes into a PMs creative process. Therefore, examples such as these are relevant to explore the theories/ideas/philosophies in which a word is or has been commonly used. The most obvious and easily retrieved answer can be deceiving. In essence, our modern definitions are watered down versions of the archetypal meaning which can only be derived from deeper readings.
And so, when creating mental pictures of a writer's intent, our game experience can be enriched by a variety of information the PM may have used when exploring aspects of his or her original idea. Therefore it is not speculation, but an extension of what we can understand about the PM's process and the word's authentic meaning through various historic vs. modern representations.
To Summarize: Knowledge is not speculation but a powerful tool to enhance our imaginative process, comprehension of material presented, and ability to understand a writer's truer intent.
*Edited to add* I have no inside information regarding the creation of the story or the PM's intent.
