Did you get the same puzzle as well? I can't tell if these are the kind of things that are supposed to be combined to reveal the entire message or if they're self-contained.

Posting on behalf of <Phaetor> who is unable to do so, ATM.
Apparently this is from a PM on an IG forum.
Sorry. I'm not familliar with this game.

Quote:
I just "talked" to Derek. The conversation is as follows:
<Phaetor>"I think I know what happened to your collection."
<Derek>"Really? What? (I hope this isn't leading to a one-liner, btw, cuz I'm pretty tired.)"
<Phaetor>"Some friends of mine got a few of your figures in the mail.
Did you have any movie posters that went with it?"
<Derek>"No, I didn't have any missing posters.
That's weird, someone else PM'd me about my stuff showing up in the mail, too. Gonna try to get to the bottom of this tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up."

It definitely looks like one of these crossword puzzle contests.. "Take the circled letter and put it in 2nd position to find the solution!"

The pics are the same as ones on the site (yeti/ underwater thing <cough> etc).

I would guess the word/ number squares will perhaps let us solve the Golden Dragon code?

Ok so i just checked out Sun myspace and she left two new blogs, the first one she addresses the screening that she is holding...

The Screening

INT. NYU DORM ROOM - DAY

Welcome back! I promised more details about the movie screening, and I always keep my promises, so here we go… It will be held at 8:00 PM on Monday, Feb. 12th at the Magno Review Center, 729 7th Ave. (between 48th-49th Sts.) New York, NY, in Room 1. Ok? So go!

What do you mean, you want to know what you're going to see?

Oh all right, if you insist. I am just so excited to be able to say this – the movie will be Joon-Ho Bong's new masterpiece The Host, a.k.a. Gwoemul. I don't know if you've heard of this movie or not, but you will soon. Bong is a modern master of comedic pathos, making you laugh through your tears and leaving you touched and ponderous afterwards. The Host is a family drama in the guise of a really excellent monster movie. Chicks will dig the storyline. Dudes will dig the beast. It's a total crowd pleaser. And check out the feature on Artforum about it!

Ok? So go! Wink

So in other news, I've been working with my friend Derek on a music video and I'm tickled pink with how it's coming out. Speaking of monsters, this video is chock full of them. I can't wait to show it to you. I'm having severe guilt seizures from the time I'm spending on the editing and not in the library, but I'm justifying it to myself by saying that I'm gaining real-world, hands-on experience, which is just as important as book smarts. Right? (Right!) So yeah, the video's full of Derek's monstery goodness, which is fitting, because he's the founder of MonsterHunterClub.com, dedicated to ferreting out information about cryptozoology worldwide. It's kind of bittersweet, too, since Derek's had most of the figures I used for this stolen. Poor guy. Well, at least he'll have the video I filmed before he packed them up to remember them by.

Make sure to clear your calendars for the screening on Feb. 12th!

FADE OUT

What interesting that she make a point of saying that Derek's figures were stolen, when the video comes out we will know if the action figures everyone were sent are really his.

The second blog is a audio blog, Sun starts by talking about herself a bit more background about where she is from, then she make a point of talking about her love of chocolate chip cookiees and that

Quote:
i can be baught with them, but i don't know what you would be buying

then she goes on to talk about Dereks figures being stole again, but ends the clip shortly after that.

I posted a message on her myspace wall looking for more info so far i haven't heard back. Is anyone in the New York area that can make it to this screening and if so I think it would be a good idea to bring cookiees.

That's possible, but I think it's unlikely because, narratively speaking, there's no necessary reason for whoever sent the packages to have knowledge of Matt's grandfather's code -- that is, unless they are also in on whatever top secret stuff he was involved in.

There was no puzzle, just the poster, photo, and the bookmark thing.

got my package today

courtesy of http://monsterhunterclub.com/
Thank You!!

I got Dracula: Classic Movie Monster (Universal Pictures) Imperial Toy Corporation 1986. The front plastic cover is missing and the backdrop has a little wear. Other than that it's in great shape.

(click for a larger view)

Also there were two beautiful identical stamps on the package and each had an X in that hologram stuff where you see different things depending on the way the light hits it. And there are letters on them.

Just another random observation:
each puzzle contains exactly two instances of the digits 1 thru 7. Do we have anything of length 7 that this could relate to ?

It's not minesweeper, though that would make a nice puzzle too.

[update] Monster Hunter Club News
uncoverning the seeds of myth

http://monsterhunterclub.com/news/index.php?uid=748e57adfedc

MHC movie news - Fri, January 26, 2007

We've seen quite a few new members joining the forum the last few days; I think that weird thing in the water (armor-plated white turtle? rhino with fins?) is really capturing the imaginations of CZ fans out there. Cryptidtruth posted a longer movie of it -- s/he thinks it's a fish of some sort, but further details have been maddeningly absent thus far.

Cryptidtruth, if you come back and fill us in, I will buy you a dozen donuts of your choice, even though I vowed long ago to not use donuts as an MHC bargaining tool anymore. Perhaps Bavarian cream is your thing? Or the classic jelly-filled? Well, my friend, these and 10 other donuts could be yours, free of charge! All we ask of you is, WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?!?

Speaking of movies, how cool is it that Sun-Yi was able to set up an advance screening of The Host here in NYC? (Check out her blog at myspace.com/koreanfilmfan) And get this -- she's now writing a film column for Twitch! Plus, she's working on a video for Cryptid Love, all while taking a more-than-full course load. Only in her second semester of college, and already she's movin' and shakin' more than my Grandpa Ed without his pills. I'd better not stand too close to her, some of her ambition might rub off on me....

Oh yeah, I got a couple of private messages last night from people saying some of my missing collectibles (blog) had turned up in their friends' mail! Very strange. Haven't received a ransom note or anything yet, but I'll keep you posted.... o_0

I'm starting to think these puzzles are all standalone, but for whatever its worth, I've combined all four that have been delivered so far. The only observation I have is that the one on the top left includes the text "ountains" down the right side, which could be either "fountains" or "mountains", but because it's plainly visible, it's probably just filler text.

Domain of the Golden Dragon Text

(sorry for the double post)

Matt has posted a better scan of the certificate. He's also updated RainbowOfDeath. Here's the text in case its helpful for anyone to do statistical analysis or whatever:
Quote:
To All Members of the Armed Forces Wherever Ye May Be: and to all Mermaids, Sea Serpents, Whales, Sharks, Dolphins, Eels,
Skates, Suckers, Crabs, Lobsters and other living things of the sea Greetings: Know Ye: That on this _____ day of _________________________,
in Latitude_____________, Longitude 180.00 there appeared within the limits of Our Royal Domain the ___________________________________
Be It Remembered
That the said Vessel and Officers and Crew thereof have been inspected and passed on by ourselves and Our Royal Staff And Be
It Known: By All Ye Members of the Armed Forces, Landlubbers, and Others Who May Be Honored By His Presence, That

Having Been Found Worthy to be numbered as one of our Trusty Golden Dragons -- and duly initiated into the Mysteries
of the Far East. Be It Further Understood: That by Virtue of the Power Vested in Me I do Hereby Command All My
Subjects to Show Due Honor and Respect to Him Whenever He May Enter Our Realm.
Disobey This Order Under Penalty of Our Royal Displeasure
Davey Jones Golden Dragon Ruler of the 180th Meridian

So far...

Ok so here is what we have so far…

Three Major Web Pages
1. http://monsterhunterclub.com/
2. http://rainbowofdeath.com/
3. http://enhanceyourself.org/

Main Characters
1. Derek
2. Matt Wheeler
3. Jon Paine
4. Amie Adams
5. Sun-Yi

Path of Event

First was the trailhead it came in the form of a URL at the end of a Myspace video for the movie The Host. http://www.myspace.com/thehostmovie This link was to the MH webpage. Now from here we gain access to the other two webpages, RoF and EY. Now our first major clue came in the form of the puzzle on the back of the Domain of the Golden Dragon certificate.

The original of this can be found on Matt Wheeler's webpage, http://rainbowofdeath.com/howitstarted/ now this code was written by Matt Grandfather John Wheeler sometime around 1966. Matt also links to a bunch of journal entries by his grandfather, but I don't know if they will help decode the certificate or not.

Everything was quite for a few days on the code until a number of heavy hitter in the UF world received packages with new codes, as of right now we have 4, the are directly above this post so I won't repost them. These toys showed up after Derek posted on MH that a number of his toys from his collection had been stolen.

Other things of importance. Sun-Yi has a myspace page, http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=123518618, also on here page she has two links of importance the first is a video blog where she talks about a screening http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=1795936722, the second is an audio blog where she give more information about the screening and talks about the fact that Derek's action figures were stolen http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=123518618&blogID=222056732&MyToken=b10fa509-a15e-4726-a4ee-4af4ed4c6f66. She also mentions that fact that they had just used his figures to make a video for a song Derek wrote that also appears on MH. The screening is in New York it will be held at 8:00 PM on Monday, Feb. 12th at the Magno Review Center, 729 7th Ave. (between 48th-49th Sts.) New York, NY, in Room 1. So far no one has responded if they can make it or not.

We haven't made any progress with the EY webpage and until today there really was no connection between EY and MH, however Amie Adams just updated the webpage and explained that she still has no idea where Jon is and that she is going to go to her friend Derek for help finding Jon.

In terms of Characters they all center on Derek. Matt Wheeler is Derek's roommate at NYU and Sun-Yi is one of his good friends. Amie Adams is an old friend of Derek and is going to get into contact with him during the last few days. Jon Paine is Amie best friend.

That is all I have for now hope it is not to long and helps.
