Yeah, I'm thinking its bogus. ARG? Errr.... dunno.

Can any of you hax0rs get some detailed info about her? I've seen letters like this before, rip off artists, and even for games, but this is a little creepy.

BTW, sorry if I'm not supposed to post this here, but I honestly don't know what to make of it.

ack! That has to be just about the hardest thing to read ever. It may even be the longest run on sentence that I have ever seen. Seriously, I'd almost vote ARG just because most spam is easier to read than that. But, at the same time, would you want to play an ARG in which you'd have to communicate with whoever it is that's writing like that? I'd spend the entire game crying for the English language!

The second I read anything that says Nigeria in the body of the email, my scam detectors go haywire.

First and foremost, of all the countries to take a vacation in Africa, why Nigeria? I mean, why not go to sunny Sudan? Or the sandy beaches of Somalia? I hear Mogadishu is nice this time of year.

Actually, the hospital scenario is a pretty common Nigerian email scam. Someone needs immediate medical treatment and the email claims that the doctors are refusing to treat until they get money. I'd say, "RUN FOR THE HILLS! HIDE YOUR BANKING INFO!!!"

You didn't give us much to use in a trail search. Although it is from a Yahoo! mail account, the headers *might* contain some routing IP addresses which *might* confirm that it came from Nigeria. Then what? I wouldn't send money to someone even if their Yahoo! profile looked honest -- the best scammers can make themselves look harmless. Beware!

Oh, and now that i read this thread's description line (my bad) and you mention that it was "from" friendcircles.com, I'm not sure what that means. It's not the return email address (which can be spoofed anyway)? If this person is using a platform to send spam, they may be violating Friendcircles' terms of service. Do you want to report them?

I get these same kinds of emails from time to time, and I always report them to the email provider they are using to send them. There's some info about who to report this to and what to include *here*...as well as some info about how really awful the nigerian scam is.

however, the ones that i get all claim to be from some nigerian lawyer or diplomat or official of some kind who's handling the will of some distant dead relative i've never even heard about with a surname spelled the exact same way they completely misspell mine. i know that they use different scenarios, though. here's a quote from the link above:

Quote:
The Scam operates as follows: the target receives an unsolicited fax, email, or letter often concerning Nigeria or another African nation containing either a money laundering or other illegal proposal OR you may receive a Legal and Legitimate business proposal by normal means. Common variations on the Scam include "overinvoiced" or "double invoiced" oil or other supply and service contracts where your Bad Guys want to get the overage out of Nigeria (Classic 419); crude oil and other commodity deals (a form of Goods and Services 419); a "bequest" left you in a will (Will Scam 419); "money cleaning" where your Bad Guy has a lot of currency that needs to be "chemically cleaned" before it can be used and he needs the cost of the chemicals (Black Currency 419) ; "spoof banks" where there is supposedly money in your name already on deposit; "paying" for a purchase with a check larger than the amount required and asking for change to be advanced (cashier's check and money order 419); fake lottery 419; chat room and romance 419 (usually coupled with one of the other forms of 419); employment 419 (including secret shopper 419) ; and ordering items and commodities off "trading" and "auction" sites on the web and then cheating the seller. The variations of Advance Fee Fraud (419) are very creative and virtually endless, so do not consider the above as an all-inclusive list!

i haven't heard of the stranded/penniless in nigeria version before, but i'm guessing it's just another one to add to the list.

GERRRR!

Okay, I haven't been able to let this go.

I just had a huge issue with my PC, having to re install and talk to tech support the whole shabang. My PC just got assaulted by a BOT, convieniently as it lagged like crazy to install everything, resulting in a lock up and... you get the idea.

With that said, I figured why not shift the unhealthy bot fury back over to JACKIE JACKSON, from the only place in Texas to use the word MUM.

JUST FOUND OUT I HAD THIS:

Quote:
Hi my name is Jackie i live in texas denton, 26 yr single and searching , no kids nerver been married , and ready to seetle down with a presentable man , my turn off's are lies and unseriouseness, i love being arround friends and making them laugh write back if your interested in sharing my whole life with me.at where_is_the_love4usSPLATyahoo.com

Her profile says she's 27 but I didnt see a bday.

http://jackiealone.friendcircles.com/ sorry I didn't post it earlier.

I don't think it an ARG either, but I've searched some keywords and found people possibly connected to her on myspace and such. If Jackie Jackson is not her real name, she didn't think much about the fake one when she chose it.

Isn't it weird how she specified that city? Not Dallas or LA or Chicago, but DENTON, TEXAS which is about 80 sq mi and probably not to the brim with Jackie Jacksons.

YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS PART. (taken from her FriendCircles)

About Me: I am patient, generous, kind, and loving. I am always upbeat, have a positive attitude about most things and I like to have fun. I enjoy music, theatre, movies and art. I always try to enjoy the simple things in life, and not take anything for granted. I love to go out and have fun,but I can also stay in and just relax.....where_is_the_love4usSPLATyahoo.com
My Interests: I've a naturally curious mind and love to learn about people s, cultures, and so many other things. So meeting someone with different interests they can share with me is a bonus! I read everyday from both fiction and non-fiction for both relaxation and my love of learning. I believe life is a long process of learning if we only take the opportunities that come our way! if you are the kind am looking for ...You will find the most honourable intentions with me; you are invited to touch my heart,
Who I Want To Meet: I'm seeking a serious long term relationship and more. Someone special to capture my heart and knows how to handle it with care, one who will cherish me and be willing to share life's greatest joys and sorrows. Someone who's willing to spoil, pamper

And my god would you look at the sentence structure?

Anyways, I'll zip it now. Theres more stuff at her friendcircles site, but I don't wanna post it in case anyone wants to see the details of this odd thing themselves.

And no I wont use spoilers. I get bad vibes just thinking about using spoiler tags here.

And Catherwood, Yeah, I really do wanna know where they're from. I'm just seeing too many elements that dont suggest it.

If its Nigeria, then what?
I guess nothing.
Then I'll be a little bummed out because I was hoping for something more cataclysmic as I do in all things Smile

I dont care to have the hand of justice thrown on this one. I'm sure if this is a real scam, we wont have to worry about that.

So Cathe, ifin yer nawt doin eneethin...

...I'd shor liek daet daer aidress. Very Happy

 Alright, there's still contact here.

Hi Adam

How are you doing today??well i just want to say thanks for your e-mail,in the first place what made me took time to get back to you was the of way you sent me an e-mail i saw scared and sad to reply back till i got another one from you,

I replied saying that I would look into it but if it was a scam, I would report it to the authorities hoping to scare her.

Quote:
So it made be feel like if i can no longer find an help out of here cuz you are the first guy i have ever talked about this,
I have reported to the police and they said they are trying to look for the guy that caused the accident and we cant wait any longer,i was crying for help for about 3 hours on the fall, cause i have never been to afria before i dont know where to start out for help, till a man came when i was crying while mom laying down on the fall bleeding,so he quickly rush us to the nearest hospital,on our way going to the hospital i never knew i lost my waliet till i got hospital and i have about $2700 which i lost,
Well i dont have much to say but i would like to talk to you more and like to know who you are and lets get to know each other if i can get out of this problem i am in right now and i promise you will never regret.cuz im gonna make you happy

My mom is ok and all we need now is to pay for the hospital bills im owning and collect back our return flight tickets and passports.hope to hear from you soon

Always love you
Jackie

$2700 is alot of dough to carry around if its not travellers checks.

Anyway, this is odd that I got a reply, b/c I said so much about reporting a scam. I also asked her for details.

Quote:
Jackie,

I am very sorry to hear about your situation. What is your mum's address in the states? What is her name? I would like to try and help, but I have to know that this is not someone trying to scam money on the internet.

Another thing is, you need to go to the local police, report this, and give them ALL detailed information on what happened.

WHY do you need to pay a registration fee? Was she given any medicine, any type of treatment? If she only fainted, and did not remember anything on the way to the hospital, then the registration fee must be paid by the man who took her to there.

Aside from this, I have a friend near that country who knows their laws. I will speak to my friend and see what can be done. BUT, if you are indeed someone trying to do something dishonest, I have the identification code from the computer that you mailed me from, and I will make sure it doesn't go any further.

When I mentioned an ID code I hoped that would scare a scammer, but if the scammer knows his stuff I guess it wouldn't help. Wasn't thinking I guess.

Is it possible that this is real?????

"Text Wall of Doom" (Phrase coined by my son when describing his english assignment reading either Nathanial Hawthorne's Scarlet letter or James Fenimore Cooper's Last of the Mohicans, can't remember which -- but not sure it matters, I had to agree with him... and believe it applies here as well. Smile )

I'M FROM DENTON, TEXAS.

And I can guarantee this: NO ONE uses the term Mum for mother out here. 'Cept for me. 'Cause I'm wierd like that.

I got an adress to send "money" to help this person.

When they open the letter, they will find a list of their user IDs and handles covering more than 25 dating sites (ALL with cut + paste about me's) and large print on the reverse saying "CONGRATULATIONS -- You've been counter-f***** by me". Very Happy
