A "new" name from Camrose, Alberta, Castledweller posted on the MHC forum
Quote:
Hey D!

Good to see a little life coming back into this place! When I got your far-out furry figure in the mail yesterday, I actually thought you were using your gear as a way to get us all back here, running some kind of one-man publicity stunt for the club or something.

I see now that's not the case.

I don't know who'd do this to you, or what the purpose is, much less how in the hell they got my address, but if you want it back, dude it's yours. I don't recognize the nicks of the people who've received them already, but did any other old members get any?

Anyway, here's a pic of the one I was sent, along with the grid thing. I started working on it, and I'm thinking the numbers are the important part. All the rest of the shit just looks like gibberish (except for one part that reads TV Quiz?)

And why have pairs of numbers if you're not supposed to do something with them? It reminds me of a maze or one of those Soduko puzzle types. I'm about as handy with those things as a back pocket on a t-shirt, but I'll dig around the net a bit and see if I can't come up with something to help you.

Sorry about the quality of the pic, taken with my mobile.

Really good to see you guy, and my condolences to Matt, sorry to hear about his mom.

Here is his puzzle

There's been a few mentions of soduko now, so I'm wondering if these are subtle hints? The only problem with that is, there are two 2s in the top left corner (in the one above) so it's not soduko...

Does that confirm we are looking for words, or phrases, that can read round corners? The only TVQUIZ I can see bends after the U.

I don't see how Sudoku can work out in this case. The puzzles already have duplicate letters and numbers next to each other.

I think for the moment we should ignore the Sudoku reference and focus on the numbers. Because Camrose, Alberta, Castledweller posted on the MHC forum

so that is what i am trying but i still haven't had any luck.... but i am keeping my head down we'll beat this....

There seems to be a nice summary of the whole ARG so far here: http://www.thinginthewater.com/pg1.html

Sun-Yi just posted a new video on her myspace link to it

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1839481739

The video is a stop-motion piece that goes along with Derek's Cryptid Love song. Sun-Yi said earlier that the figures used were the same ones stolen from Derek, but the only one i noted was Dracula he appears on screen for only a moment on the line "taken from my sight" this might explain why unlike the other toys it was not sealed in its package. Other then that i haven't gotten anything else important from the video, but i have only watched it twice, she does make it a point that the lyrics are can be found on Derek's page so there might be something to it.

DeusExMachina, here is a link to all of his toys.

http://monsterhunterclub.com/crypto-seum/

It looked to me that most of them were in the video except for the ones that are in packages on that page. The one you thought was Dracula looked more like Frankenstein's Monster to me.

An odd thing though, the one that konamouse got doesn't seem to be on that page.

No problem DeusExMachina and welcome aboard. The link enaxor posted above ( http://www.thinginthewater.com/ ) is a great way to catch up. It does a great job of summarizing everything. I highly recommend it to everyone.

I just realized something: this cryptid love song by Derek is about Amie, isn't it? I mean, Derek "Saved [her] from the hatred, piercings and raves", and she's certainly got piercings. Plus she was "By Frankenstein's Monster", and this Jon Paine guy is a self-described cyborg. Maybe that's been obvious to everyone else, but it just now occured to me.

Since these number/letter puzzles and Jon's disappearance are our main two mysteries (other than the thing in the water), I'm going on the hunch that the puzzles are somehow related to Jon -- either in their answer or their solve.

No, it's not. I thought the seamonsters were kinda cute - wish I had gotten one of those instead (funny how my puzzle suggests the answer is LOCHNESSMONSTER).

True molecularr, and also I've noticed several hints that point to the letter "C" on more than one page. Not sure what it means, though.

"By the way," I read your article, nice. You said "to say Hi," so Hi.

Just watched Sun-Yi new video blog, do we know if anyone is going to be able to get to the screening I think it might be important. I would have made the trip but am currently out of the country. Sad

Don't forget about Matt and his grandfather, we still don't know what to do with the puzzle that we solved for him.

I was just getting ready to post that someone needs to go.

And she hints that we need to listen to or watch something in reverse.
