ROOM WITH A VIEW [solve]

From neowin

It is indeed a Founder puzzle, without the clay. I assume that some missing informtion was derived from the fireworks to make the letters clear.

GJ1 (no explanation as yet)

There is no need for brute force on this one.
hints: click on the radio handset to hear a message (make sure your pc speakers are on)
click and drag the pulsing dots
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
From the audio file:
Base 29 was 858 miles away at 13:30
Base 102 was {garbled} miles away at 13:30
Base 47 was twice as many miles away as base 102 was at 13:30

You may need to zoom in on the flash to read the numbers to tell the bases apart.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
*Drag base 29 until you have a circle of radius 858 (more little numbers tell you the current size of the circles you have drawn)
*Drag base 102 an arbitrary amount (say 500)
*Drag base 47 twice the amount of base 102 (in this case 1000)
*increase the radius around base 102, then increase the radius around base 47 to be double that around base 102[
*repeat until all three circles meet at a single point (somewhere in the vicinity of 858,1002,2004)
*read the answer from the grid in the background, co-ordinate GJ1

Just a thought, are the numbers on the pictures possibly page numbers for the listed books?

Also, 13124 is the zip code for Pitcher, NY

In the crossword, I am puzzled by the clues c5sah6h4h2 and nh8. Were those solves along the way?

The clue is at approximately 5:47 in the video.

For Bulletin Board, I would just like to point out that we still have no idea what the numbers on each picture are supposed to represent (e.g., 1/8 underneath the picture of the ukelele). There are too many to spell out "Murder at the Vicarage."

I hate loose ends.

Google the music for the movies - they are all referred to as part of the Theremin Era (which is also what the missing letters spell). The answer is Theremin.

I'm puzzled, though; how does the answer relate to the fireworks? All I saw for that one was two sets of six white streams, the first had the 3rd from the right red, the second had the 2nd from the right red.

I hope (and assume) that more complete information ends up on the wiki, but 9 of today's puzzles were solved without the fireworks, many by rough guesswork around the topic or just plain manual running of a variety of solutions. And many of the solves came from neowin, which is not nearly as compulsive about collecting and reporting information or indeed crediting solves. So frankly many puzzles are open to reverse engineering at this point.

jamesi - c5sah6h4h2 was the solution to X-Ray Cards in Box 2.

NH8 is interesting because it was not a solution, but GJ1 was (which isn't in the wordsearch), suggesting that there was a last-minute change to Search and Rescue.

Ah, right. I don't remember it being backwards (as a solve) though.

You're right, it was actually 2:H, 4Very Happy, 6:H, A:S, 5:C - it was only backwards in the word search. Should have checked.

I can't put the answer for Captain's Log

I put seven in in every configuration I think of and it just says other on the top left of the screen when I press submit.
