Don't forget about Matt and his grandfather, we still don't know what to do with the puzzle that we solved for him.

Yeah, that's a possibility too. I'm sure it'll all connect eventually. So far, though, Matt's puzzle and storyline isn't connected to Derek's disappearing stuff or Jon Paine. It may not lead anywhere, but right now I'm looking for patterns in the numbers that suggest any relationship with Jon. (I don't know what that means either).

FYI, if you playback that garbled bit in her latest video running at half speed in reverse she says "Back to the left".

Well, castledweller has posted what must be a hint. What he seems to be doing is connecting each pair of numbers with a path that doesn't intersect other numbers' paths. Sort of like this game. I couldn't solve any of them, though, and based on certain positions, I don't see how certain path crossings could be avoided. Still, even if those paths are found, I don't know how we get a word out of it.

Last night I'd been trying other methods similar to that like drawing squares using each number pair as corners, but nothing worked. The big challenge to me seems to be getting an answer of from 7 - 15 digits when we're given 14 data points to work with. In other words, I think the answer must lie in what's between the number points or can be eliminated by them, as opposed to anything informational about the points themselves (coordinate pairs, for example).

So I can't see how castledweller's method will work (it might) but I think the answer has to be something like that.

well just tried the above with one of the squares, and it's possible, but uses all the squares. Not sure if there's anagrams in there, but it doesn't seem that likely?

EDIT: example added. I can't see any other options to link the numbers without any cross over, but there probably is.

Nice job, AL! Now we just have to figure out how to get a word out of that Wink

I notice that the previously mentioned TV Quiz appears all along the 5 line. Maybe it would be helpful to grid out all the sequences like I did for the list of sea creatures on the Golden Dragon certificate.

I've got to go to a meeting, but I'll try that out later if no one else does.

Again, good work ALISDAIR.

2: AGIBSLIIMTCMR
3: OYA
4: MSTEEVT
5: ZIUQVTMHNIAEYESASTW

I am not sure if this helps because unlike the puzzle that we got the helping start with there are only four pairs of number in the puzzle that we think might me LOCHNESSMONSTER the lines for that are:

2- MCIUAIRUIVHBOEO
3- YLTPNI
5- SMEONCA
7- NBKOARTBCHTOA

I found paths on the other puzzles as well but i don't think this is right because i can't get anything out of the letters i got from the paths and on top of that unlike the puzzle we got help on the paths don't use all of the letters. I don't think it well help but let me know if you want me to post the other puzzle paths i found i finish them for 2 and 9 and am working on 6.

I took the same excel file (nice!) and added my paths for the other 4 puzzle grids. I used the same color scheme. I agree that these paths may not be the only way to link the numbers and use every square in each grid, but this is at least a place to start. I still can't see how they connect to the blanks below each puzzle, though...

I'm not getting anywhere with this yet, but I'm thinking along the lines of one of the text strings will fit the blanks beneath minus the number, and we then take the number as a=1 etc to get an anagram (yeah I know totally stretching).

So for example in the square I did the 4 string is 7 long, add H for the 8 to give HMSTEEVT - VM'S TEETH? THEM VETS? ... I did say I wasn't getting anywhere. Crying or Very sad

[Update] MHC Derek's Blog Jan 30

Calling all monster hunters! Derek has updated his blog.

Derek wrote:
As I said when I got back to school, I had a lot of thinking to do. (blog) Well gang, I'm done thinking (which is good, 'cause it makes my forehead kinda wrinkly) and I've made up my mind -- Monster Hunter Club is here to stay.

With all this synchronicitous stuff happening lately -- CanuckChik's Bigfoot photo; cryptidtruth's videos and photos of that weird thing-fish; all the smart new MHC members; both my best friend and ex-girlfriend needing the help of some smart people; my stolen collectibles being anonymously mailed out with puzzles attached (?!); a good friend's infectious enthusiasm making me feel like a wide-eyed CZ noob again; strange creatures and cryptozoology all over the media in general -- I really feel the world needs Monster Hunter Club now more than ever. And I know I still need the MHC. So what if my toy shelves are now empty and I'll have to sell my soul to the job market at the end of the semester...we've got a fan site!

To celebrate and show your support for MHC in what is surely to be its greatest year ever, COME BE ON THE TODAY SHOW WITH US!

That's right, Sun-Yi, Matt and I will be there this Thursday morning, February 1, outside the Nintendo store at Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan, near where the show tapings are held. I'm giving you advance notice so you can go ahead and hit the hay, oh now-ish, since we ask those that wish to join us be there at 5:45AM. Yes, it's early, but you'll get the chance to not only show your support for MHC on TV and get a free club logo t-shirt, but you'll also get to live the dream and see Bigfoot, whose attendance has been confirmed! Come on down -- a couple extra cups of coffee are a small price to pay for all the fun we'll have!
