[BBR][SPEC/PUZZLE] The Second Task
spec, puzzle, solves, when we get the task

Quote:
Just got this email from complete.the.tasksSPLATgmail.com

Be prepared.

The second task begins tomorrow. You have not received information about it yet, but you will. Do not believe those who would mislead you.

The Beast cannot be killed. It could not be killed in 2k5 and it will not be destroyed in 2k7.

Dan got this earlier today, and from Jared's latest chap it seems he got the same thing. So, things start back up tomorrow.

Which is also the anniversary of the first sighting, isn't it?

jaredmathison (7:45:11 PM): I have no memory of that whatsoever
jaredmathison (7:45:36 PM): and it's probably not connected, but in homeroom today the teacher called out a name from the attendance list that none of us (including her) had ever heard of

jaredmathison (7:46:49 PM): who's benjy?
Degravedi (7:46:50 PM): Didn't you write about him on your Fiction Press?
3 (7:46:53 PM): Just asking...
2 (7:47:00 PM): benjy is your best friend
jaredmathison (7:47:09 PM): Tom Meltzer is my best friend
1 (7:47:13 PM): You posted a convo you had with him as your second entry i believe
2 (7:47:17 PM): benjy is your other friend
jaredmathison (7:47:17 PM): I've never heard of benjy stieh...

2 (7:49:11 PM): why do you think that 5?
5 (7:49:13 PM): he sounds to eh
3 (7:49:18 PM): Jared, how did you hear about BK?
jaredmathison (7:49:41 PM): i think you told me...
1 (7:49:42 PM): maybe you could ask your paents if they recognize his name or you talking about him
jaredmathison (7:49:43 PM): didn't you?
jaredmathison (7:49:44 PM): maybe it was dan
2 (7:49:58 PM): i dont remember bringing up BK to you
jaredmathison (7:50:11 PM): someone definitely told me... lol
jaredmathison (7:50:14 PM): sorry
jaredmathison (7:50:23 PM): obviously, my memory's been fuzzy lately
5 (7:50:33 PM): beast killer doesn't sound like a real person in nh or w/e he says he is and from
5 (7:50:37 PM): he sounds fake
2 (7:50:59 PM): how does he sound fake?
3 (7:51:53 PM): Well, if BK is fake, we don't have to worry about it, right?
jaredmathison (7:52:09 PM): i'm kind of freaking out right now
2 (7:52:13 PM): why
tGeCk0 (7:52:14 PM): whys that
jaredmathison (7:52:15 PM): you all think i know this benjamin person?
2 (7:52:38 PM): you do know benjy
2 (7:52:46 PM): you went to his house when your mom was missing
jaredmathison (7:52:58 PM): did i seriously?
2 (7:53:02 PM): yes
1 (7:53:21 PM): he also told you about Mrs. Brigg disappearing
jaredmathison (7:53:33 PM): I thought I heard that from Tom?
1 (7:54:15 PM): no, I just read back and it says that ben told you
jaredmathison (7:55:34 PM): you're right, it does say that
jaredmathison (7:55:41 PM): that's SO WEIRD
jaredmathison (7:55:47 PM): because I have absolutely no idea who this kid is...

So maybe Benjy is the next person we're going to have to rescue? It at least suggests that the reason no one remembers the 30th is because of some brain/memory modification.

I did a google and it turns up absolutely nothing, so either it needs to beuncoded, or it's something that only exists in game. I sent a message to Marvin asking him if he had every heard anything about it, I'll let you know what I get back

Well, could it be an anagram... the second word is seculum, only with swapped letters. So I was trying to figure out what Tarvisna could mean, but without knowledge of latin, I can't think of anything.

Edit:

I popped an email off to Marvin. I asked if he could help me find out what the ritual was.

Oh, I know already what the Ancient Ritual of Tarvisna Mulusec is.

Marvin

I asked him how I could obtain such information, waiting for another reply.[/quote]

Ancient Ritual of Tarvisna Mulusec = Ancient ritual of Narvatis Seculum or Seculum Narvatis which was mentioned in the first task i believe. From there maybe latin translation?

Here's the reply I got...

Quote:
I do know about the Ancient Ritual of Tarvisna Mulusec... If you want information, you're going to have to pay me. I expect ten pictures of stuffed animals riding bicycles to be posted to 8166357n3rd3v3rpix.ning.com... They have to all be different, too. No double uploads. Then I'll tell you what you want to know, ok? Seems I know something everyone wants... Smile

Yeah I got the same message. I do have a bike and I think I can scrounge up some stuffed animals without too much trouble. This really is making me think this guy is a game-jacker though. "Let me see what ridiculous stuff I can get people to do."

Edit: I see April's already got it covered. XD Way to go!

Degravity, his guy came from Jared's ficpress. He is, unfortunately, the real thing. And yes, I agree, this is ridiculous.

After spending close to an hour collecting pics and wondering why I the hell I was doing this, I get an email from Marvin saying that four of them didn't exactly fit the criteria for the "stuffed toys on bicycles" pic, and that I have to give him more. Rolling Eyes No thanks.

Sorry guys, you're going to have to take this one on.

edit - Just got an email from Marvin. He said that he will tell us about the ritual once 10 pics (that suit his critera, obviously) are up. From what he said, it sounds like they don't all have to come from one person. So, it looks like there only needs to be 4 more pics up...have at it, argers!

From Marvin's Blog

Well, seems I've been roped into helping people. I asked them for ten pictures of stuffed animals riding bicycles, which is pretty much standard stuff for me. And... I got 11 pictures, with one double. Pretty good haul, I think. Sorry if that annoyed anyone, ok? I'm a little weird. Deal with it. So here's the information you guys wanted... http://www.memurl.com/lunuso . Enjoy. Or not. Now... back to my pics... Smile

The Ritual

Quote:

The Ancient Ritual of Tarvisna Mulusec

DISCLAIMER: WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FIRE DAMAGE THAT MAY ENSUE FROM IMPROPER USE OF CANDLES. BY USING THE INFORMATION FOUND ON THIS SITE, YOU AGREE THAT THE RESULTS ARE YOUR FAULT AND YOUR FAULT ONLY. WE WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY FIRE DAMAGE.

1. History

The Ancient Ritual of Tarvisna Mulusec was an ancient Druid ritual performed in order to show allegiance to a certain group or people. The ritual was said to have amazing soothing powers to those who performed it, in addition to a calming effect upon those who watched. The Druids performed the ritual of Tarvisna Mulusec alone, in separate areas, each doing the same thing within sight of those they were vowing allegiance to. They could not see each other, but the recipient of the rituals could see each of the Druids.

2. Materials Required

a. six candles

b. a mask

c. tea

d. a bowl

3. Safety Precautions

Before performing this ritual, it is important to ensure that there will be nothing flammable near the area where the candles will be placed. Children should not perform the ritual, and no one should perform it without another nearby to ensure safety. It is probably a good idea to let the tea cool down considerably before beginning the ritual.

4. Steps to Performing the Ritual

Before completing the ritual, prepare yourself. you need to wear the mask during the preparations. Because you will need your mouth, a half-mask will work best. also, the ritual should be performed indoors.

1. Set up the six candles in a semicircle on a wood floor, but do not light them.

2. Heat water for your tea.

3. When the water is ready, make the tea in a cup and then pour it into the bowl.

3b. Pour in a teaspoon of white sugar.

3c. Pour in a teaspoon of honey

4. Sit in the center of the semicircle of candles (behind it), on your knees.

5. Light all six candles.

6. Close your eyes.

7. In a strong, loud voice say: Ego sudo famulatus ut __(insert name of those you are swearing allegiance to here)__

8. Open your eyes.

9. Take a long sip of the tea.

10. In a strong, loud voice say: Ego mos maneo suum sceptrum.

11. Slowly lean down and blow out every other candle, starting with the one on the far left.

12. Sit back up straight and take another long sip of tea.

13. Set the bowl down in front of you.

14. In a strong, loud voice say: Ego mos pareo.

15. Drink the remainder of the tea.

16. Louder than before, say: EGO MOS PAREO.

17. Sway back and forth for five seconds, with your eyes closed.

18. Blow out the remaining candles.

5. After the Ritual

Now, according to the ancient Druids of Nar anyway, you have created a binding alliance with those you have sworn allegiance to. You have also found yourself very relaxed, removing stress from your life. Any who watched your ritual are also very relaxed. Many find themselves unable to move for a minute or two after performing the ritual, so it's best to relax for a minute before cleaning up after the ritual.

we're probably supposed to swear allegiance to the organization or the beast.

wouldn't it be funny if we did it and swore allegiance to black river and jared? they'd be mad, but we completed the task- we performed the ritual. it doesnt say who we're supposed to perform it for, right?

Wink

so who is going to do this? we have two days at this point... the rest of today and monday. we'd better get cracking!

Considering your group has multiple people, it might work best if you all take a stab at it.. That way one person can perform the ritual, one person can take care of the camera, and you still have an extra person to lend a helping hand.
