ok. here's my entirely unqualified guess.

The library of babel stuff is all a lot of misdirection. There is nothing helpful to be gained fFrom the pathways (as you say +/-number strings=>letter string=>key?). It is a lot of useless scrambling to no end.

This is not very likely, I'll be the fFirst to recognize. But since CT's site is now recognized as being 3P as well, that means anything running across it is meant to be fFull of lies.

So there's my guess. The pathways letter string means absolutely nothing.

Knowing what we know now maybe the Risk pieces were supposed to lead us to Stamford i.e the start of the Jurrasic Way... maybe the peices represent the loses to both sides in the Battle of Stamford Bridge....
