[UPDATE] http://www.evamcgill.co.uk/blog/ February 2, 2007 Blog Update (VOIPHE)
Quote:
The parcel had my old teddy bear Voiphe in it! There was also an old birthday card from my mum and dad! When I saw Voiphe I was over come with a massive rush of memories and feelings. I just hugged him and cried. My computer crashed, in fact all my electrics went. Then suddenly last night they came on again. Here's a pic of me and Voiphe. He doesn't look like much but he means a lot to me! I'm just catching up on your messages. Be seeing you. x

Hmmmm Anyone else interested to see whats inside the bear
If I were her with all thats been going on its the first thing id check, although it being a childhood memory she would probably be most upset at opening him up!

The fact that all the electrics in her house went out, suggests the parcel (or teddy) may have contained a small EMP grenade. If I was a paranoid person, that's exactly the sort of thing I'd use to fry any RFID tags that may be hidden in my vicinity

Would it not also have toasted all the other electronic components in the house?

sounds to me like it's more to do with the "rush of emotions and feelings" that caused the electrical surge, rather than something within the bear. Like an overload of phsycic ability.
Or she could be the kid from monsters inc.

I agree, I think Eva caused the electrics to go off, she emphasises just how strong her reaction was to it. Also if it was the bear, how exactly would it have been so perfectly timed as to do it when she opened the box?

Voiphe is scary looking. I think it is because of the beady, blood-red, slightly insect-like eyes...sorta like this: <--EVIL!
Anyway, while we wait for the next puzzle and/or vlog...anyone want to track down the manufacturer of the bear? Just a fun Friday (night for you folks in the UK) scavenger hunt...then again, that could be a total waste of time...

since VOIPHE as shown up again, i re-read this entry in Eva's blog: Fireworks

Like when my mum and dad used to play this game with their friends where they'd make up words . Another of their friends who used to come and hang out in our kitchen was Joseph. They made up this word Voiphe. I don't know where it came from but it ended up being the name of my teddy bear.
Maybe VOIPHE is another acronym for something.

I think you might be onto something. This Dr. Freaky Freddy (or w/e his name was) might be working against Prof. Wilson, who is monitoring Eva. Or Dr. Freaky Freddy (again, I don't care what his name is) could be working with Keir... Or TimeHole... Nah, not Timehole--they're pretty neutral in this whole thing.

Well, I bet most people know VOIP is Voice Over Internet Protocol. But it is an anachronism to have that somehow influence the naming of the bear. So basically I got nothing. It doesn't anagram to anything woot worthy...the anagram that is the most interesting is HIVE OP.
I'm wondering if the cipher from the posters might lead to something, but that is just my own personal spec.
As for the bear being related to the power cutting out...what about the bug at the end of the video from last week. you know, the one where the book falls and she goes off camera, and then the bug is cut in? Maybe that is connected?
EDIT: Oh yeah, thanks Jedi!

The poster cipher has been solved, unless I'm remembering wrong. It was a gronsfeld cipher that lead us to another page on the subject180287 website - the one with the video of Eva falling down the stairs.

I'm not sure that it was an EMP grenade. Usually an EMP will fry anything with an electronic circuit. It would destroy all of her electrics, they wouldn't just come back on because they would be useless after that. I think that the SRI broke into her computer and somehow cut the power(perhaps to install survellance equipment) then turned the power back on

You're right - EMP would've bricked her computer completely. I don't think it would take an entire day to fit surveillance into a flat though - I'd expect the power to be off for an hour at most.
