[META] Avoiding Unintended Consequences
Watching What We Say

I created this thread because recently, it has been discovered that Prof. Wilson has been reading Eva's blog. Using this thread, we can make sure that we are not posting, emailing, or otherwise revealing sensitive information that could negatively impact Eva (or anyone else on 'our' side, for that matter).

The idea is that we can each look at certain things before deciding as a group that they're ok.

To start, I'd like to have your opinions on whether this is ok to send to Eva:

Quote:
Eva,

We now know that Prof. Wilson's reading your blog, and you also said you're not sure if you can trust him. If he is, indeed, not worthy of your trust, then we have a major problem on our hands. He now has complete access every bit of information myself, your other new friends, and you have posted on your blog.

You might consider disabling comments or reminding visitors to be discreet in their commenting. Also, you yourself should try to be vague in your posts from now on. Just use your best judgement.

Well, Eva, glad to hear that the Youshi's gone, and that your'e just taking it easy and reading! You deserve it; you've been under a lot of stress lately.

Sincerely,

Rekidk

I say send it. If the PMs don't want us to be more discreet they will find away to guide us around it. And even Pat and Dave on timehole.co.uk/Truthisinhere.html say to be cautious about what we say out loud.

But she shouldn't close the comments since we need to carry on as if everything is normal.

And in doing so, now that we know that Wilson is reading the comments and if the need arises, we can use the comments to misdirect him.

I agree with Sylvia. Send it, just change it to tell her to be cautious in the comment section, but not to close it down. Well written, btw. Very Happy

There are two problems I have.

You might consider disabling comments - I don't think that would be wise, disabling the comments portion of the website may lead Prof. Wilson to believe that Eva doesn't trust him, I know she said it out loud as one of her posts but, to me, that looks like just paranoia, and thus causing Prof. Wilson to possibly take more drastic measures in whatever he is hoping to accomplish.

reminding visitors to be discreet in their commenting - This would also lead Prof. Wilson to believe that Eva is "siding" if you will with us and will once again cause Prof. Wilson to act with more persuasive manners in whatever he is trying to accomplish.

Although I am saying we shouldn't trust Prof. Wilson, I don't think we have any reason to believe he is trying to harm Eva. For all we know he is just like Keir and is trying to help her but being more discreet about it. Hell, we don't even know Keir is really trying to help Eva, we're just assuming this because he says he is.

I'm not trying to cause waves, I just reckon we should keep our minds open here to any possibilites.

If we let eva know we know Dr. Wilson is reading her blog, doesn't it then tip our hand and let her know we've accessed her "private" e-mail? Didn't that info come from her secret stash?

How can she trust people who are deliberately spying on her?

I realize this is a game, and the PMs realize this is a game...but the game doesn't think it is a game.

I sent it, except I changed the second paragraph to reccomend that she go on as if everything is normal, and that we will be more discreet with our comments in the future. Smile

Also... Although that email came from her private inbox, it wouldn't be unreasonable for us to have deduced that Wilson was reading her blog. After all, we probably could have assumed that if, all of a sudden she doesn't trust Prof. Wilson any more, it might mean that he has accessed another, more private, part of her life.

This is just me, but if Prof. Wilson is smart wouldn't he be checking Eva's e-mail? I Mean he's already gone to the trouble to read her blogs and somehow is tracking her with a RFID chip. If i was spying on someone i would check their e-mail....not that i am or anything.
