[PRESS] Watershed Article

A few weeks ago, we discovered sponsers for Geist. One of them was Watershed. I know we discussed Watershed briefly, but I don't think that this article was ever linked to/shown on the forums. I did search for 'Watershed' and other key terms and didn't find this article linked to, so I think I'm good.

Basically, Watershed wrote an article about Geist, and it gives us a basic idea of what we have to expect. (It's going to be an 8-week ARG, for one thing.) Looks like we can expect a lot more video and a somewhat lighthearted story that won't make us stretch our collective suspension of disbelief too much. I found it by Googling the terms MeiGeist and ARG.

Without further ado, here's the article.

Re: [PRESS] Watershed Article

Perhaps most importantly, the article mentions that there will be objects sent by post as part of the game.

This may confirm a suspicion I have had regarding the cat/photo request. It is entirely possible that at some point this week, we will be mailed a black and white cat. It could be a stuffed toy, keyring, picture - something along those lines - but the way that Eva is requesting a picture of anything strange or any black and white cat, and possibly a picture of us holding it - makes me think of the Apollo Candy segment of the Lost Experience ARG.

Keep your eye on the letterbox for a kittycat!

Who knows?

We might even get an actual dead kitty stuffed through our letterbox! Probably from some bloke in a white van as is the fashion.

The scary thing is that I was just thinking that. "Please mail my kitten back to me! Love, Eva."

Yeah I played that ARG as well. The whole take a picture reminded me of the Apollo candy thing.

Errm... wasn't really sure where to put this! -Not very important, but quite funny none the less.

In boredom I was googling round Meigeist and came across this:

Thus, like LonelyGirl15 and her ilk, ARGs also bridge fact and fiction. This is part of their pleasure, and it is pervasive: I had a Skype conversation yesterday with Ansuman Biswas, an artist who has been sucked into the now-unfolding MEIGEIST game when its creators referenced his work in the course of casting story clues. Ansuman delightedly sent me the link to the initial thread on the game at unfiction, where participants have been debating whether Ansuman exists or not. Even though I was talking to him at the time I almost found myself wondering, too.
lol Laughing

Also a short but sweet plug by the Times online newspaper:

A new game called Meigeist was launched in Bristol this month.
..ahem.. its errm, minimalist to say the least! Smile
