So fuggem. I'm doing my own damned investigation. And you know what? I'm finding things out. Not necessarily about Jon, specifically, but stuff that's important. Like, for instance, the fact that Jon is not the first member of the body mod scene to fall off that proverbial face of the earth. No, sir. Rumor has it that at least two other guys have met a similar fate over the last couple of years, and possibly more. Nobody seems to have connected the dots, and the modder communities are so maddeningly insular at times that it's like dealing with cells that refuse to have any contact with each other. And again, the police don't give a flip.

I'm still digging, digging, trying to make sense of what I'm finding. I called Derek the other day. I'm pretty sure that the "clunk" noise I heard on the other end of the phone was his jaw hitting the floor. To his credit, though, he managed to come off as pretty cool, and I think we're friendly. I hope. He's got a good brain and better instincts. Between the two of us, we're bound to find something.

I hope.


I'm not sure what we're supposed to be doing with this storyline, but the fact that there have been other disappearances hints at a conspiracy and also suggests a line of investigation.

Is there anything else to get from the guestbook entry? That's really all we have to go on as far as concrete clues, but it seems like we should be doing something with this.

EDIT: Here's the actual guestbook for the convention. It's closed, but it suggests emailing them with inquiries. The convention itself seems real enough, so I don't know if we should contact them with an in-game inquiry or not.

 		this was the bit that first hooked me for MHC, but couldn't get anywhere with it. I reckon the tattoo convention is real too (see my post on pg1 of the MHC Trailhead thread). So the only lead is the German, Painted Soul, possibly in London.

German for Painted Soul is something like Gemalte Seele

I've gotten some emails from people asking for more details on Jon's PDA implant from October. I've got a few more pics that I'll post here shortly for people to take a gander at. I'm starting to feel a balance that has been sorely missing. And I'm going to try to answer all my mail before I leave town.

So speaking of leaving town, I'm going to try to ruminate on this Painted Soul/GemalteSeele thing, but I'm not sure what I can do with it before I hit the road. If anyone comes up with any contact ideas, please email me.

 		I noticed some discrepancies in the dates in Amies blogging so i wrote her:

The thing about the dates is my mistake. I told Mountain Girl this, too - I was so freaked out at the time I wrote that entry that I mistook the weekend that he left the guestbook entry with the weekend that he actually left for Germany. He left here on the 30th to get to Berlin on the 1st. Then he'd planned to spend the week or so afterwards hanging with the convention people. Sorry for the screw up. I'm good at that.

The problem with the chip is finding someone to scan him. I don't think that the German government would be too hip on me asking for any logs from their airports and train stations, ya know? Plus the range is pretty short. Too bad we couldn't get the damned Bluetooth done. "Hey, my laptop is trying to pair with something called 'Human Mutant.' What's up with that?"

0=x Just guessed. Since Matt's email was gmail, and Amie's mention of Gemalteseele as a single string instead of having a space suggested either a login name or email address. So, it was a lucky first try.

Thought maybe I'd go back to get my GED, try to be the good little girl I never was, try to fit in, try to make it work. Can someone tell me what the fucking point of studying physics and Shakespeare is when the high point of life is considered putting a can of mushroom soup in the macaroni, hoo boy that's living right there, bubba?

My tutor had a budding interest in monsters, and that was cute. So was he, even though I was an older woman (even more proof of how low that freak will stoop). I thought it could work. His family, not so much. In the middle of this, my knight in tattooed armor came along and promised me that everything I had imagined might exist in the world was really there. He'd show me.

So I went. And that's why. It wasn't anything to do with anyone else but myself, my wanderlust, my insistence that there's more to life than steel and beer and macaroni and football. I'm not proud of all my choices, but I own them. I made them.

I got a message from Jon's email address last night. The message said I would get more details soon on where Jon is and what he's doing. There was a new video of Jon's implant attached to it. I've known Jon for a long time – I don't know why but I don't think the message was from him.

I've been spending every waking moment trying to get winter clothing together, alternating with poring over all Jon's implant plans, scouring them for clues. I'm coming up dry.  		Amie refers to looking at Jon's plans for clues, and the new video appears to contain flashes of what look like plans (once around :30 and again around :3Cool. I can't read any of the text, but there appear to be some phrases in a different font from the rest. I'll attach what I captured.

I can't help but feel like, since they keep showing us video of this implant, there must be something we're supposed to figure out about it.

That said, is anyone else a tiny bit disappointed with the quality of the modification video? Everything else so far has been very well done (look at that fish thing on the MHC forums!). But when it comes to the implant:

Where he cut is exactly where you cut to kill yourself, because the veins are close to the surface.
You can't just cut a line down your flesh and be able to shove something under it with ease for the same reason you can't pull your skin away from your arm like a sleeve.
The bleeding stopped just because he wiped at it or what? Blood would continue to flow throughout. Not to mention that the opening needed to implant such a large device would probably bleed profusely.
Not to mention that coming from an artist's standpoint, that fake limb could have been done MUCH better and the blood didn't have the right viscosity or staying power. You get that much blood on you and it's not going to just wipe off.
