"Is a new LOST Arg in the works?" News from Lost fansite The Tail Section
Quote:
Is a new LOST Arg in the works? Or is this just another clever fan-site? Special thanks to Zack for sending us the following information:
The title for this next show is "not in Portland", referring to Portland, OR. Well, I happen to live in Oregon, and in the TV click section of the newspaper, there was an article in which the author wrote that there's a company in the Portland suburbs called Mittelos Bioscience. He said if you happen do stumble upon it, do NOT go in there. Well, that got me curious, so I emailed him asking where I could find Mittelos Bioscience, and he just said it's somewhere in the Portland suburbs and would pop up in the Lost episode on Wednesday (2/7).
I was able to find the website, www.mittelosbioscience.org All it is is a countdown screen to midnight on Tuesday. There is also an email address, mittelosbioscience.org. Here's the autoreply I got when I inquired about information:
Thank you for your interest in Mittelos Bioscience.
Unfortunately we are unable to process your request at this time.
If you are having trouble accessing your client login, please access
your account at the following url:
Thank you.
I can't seem to find where that URL goes to. I attached it onto the end of the Mittelos webpage URL, but any attachment to the URL leads to the same error page.
Another Lost promo site? I think so.
It doesn't look like a follow up The Lost Experience but I know there are a lot of fans here who probably want to check it out.

First (or second after looking at the source code) rule of ARG: Check Whois data.

Tried Google Maps, nothing hit on that address at that zipcode. Multnomah County hits around Portland.

It appears that it's likely a fan construct.

I suspect this was made by the same person(s) who last year gave us these sites:
www.minnesotametallurgy.com
www.paikheavyindustry.com
www.thewidmoregroup.com
www.widmorecorporation.com
(i based this mainly on the hosting company and IP address block being used)

By the looks of it, this will turn out to be an ARG but not an official follow up to TLE. This one appears to be fan made... Who knows, maybe ABC asked some practiced ARG makers to put something together for them seeing as ABCs own ARG got such a bad reaction.
A few interesting things about the site,
A map of the island. After the text has loaded you get a pop-up e-mail message which links to the revver video. The video contains a secret message.
There is a contact address: careersSPLAT mittelosbioscience.org
The executive bios section has a few characters from the show. Spoiler relevant up to Season 3, episode 7.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Alpert was the guy in episode seven who tried to recruit Juliet.
Ethan Rom, the guy that Charlie shot in season one.
And Juliet herself, the doctor from the Hydra Station.

Message in the video:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Juliet, Juliet it's me.
I've been trying to contact you for years.
I've got to warn you. Since I knew they were coming to get you. Since before you left.
This is the only way [inaudible] for years with communication out there, Juliet. But Hanso have been trying these experiments on humans for years, Juliet. And you're in one. The [inaudible] experiment. [inaudible] We all are.
The Hanso Foundation, The JWC, Widmore Corporation, Mittelos Biosciences. It's all the same Juliet. Over a century they've been in control, they've been killing us. They were trafficking slaves in the 1800s. Not to sell. They're going to kill you. And they were the ones who commissioned Valenzetti. They're still doing experiments on humans. Just don't let them know that I contacted you."

Is it just my machine? From the homepage all I get is that Flash animation -- the countdown ended, but it just blinks today's date with a bunch of confetti.

The site is acting kinda funky - when I first went to the homepage yesterday, it gave me a "Service Unavailable" error. I had to refresh, like, 6 times to get the flash thing to play. Anyway, cath, try going directly to http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/projects.html - or if that doesn't work, try refreshing a few times in a row.

Hmm... lose your cache and try again?
Yanka's right, the site is acting up a bit.

Thank you for the direct URL. (In the future, if you're telling us to go to a particular page, it helps to link us there.) Unfortunately I currently get just a "Service Unavailable" message there. I'll play with my cache later. As I recall, people during TLE had similar problems when an update occurred on the main Hanso website which was built out of Flash assets loaded inside a Flash shell. (Not that this is the case here, nor that the same people are remotely involved with this project, i'm just sayin'...) In the meantime, could you also please link me to the careers and exec bios pages, just in case? Thank you!

Here are all the links I can find right now:

http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/jmittelos.html
http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/ralpert.html
http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/eallen.html

http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/restricted.html (that one is for careers in Europe)
http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/northamerica.html
http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/projects.html
And two e-mail links:
infoSPLAT mittelosbioscience.org
careersSPLAT mittelosbioscience.org
EDIT: this is a cool post summarizing everything on the site to-date.
EDIT 2: I'm on WinXP/Firefox/Flash9, and I get "Service Unavailable" almost every other time I click a link. With the last error message, I refreshed 9 times to get the page to display.
