As The Beast guys said, if MS legal knew all the stuff they were doing (or not doing) they never would have let them get away with it at the time.

I think the days without disclaimers are gone, at least until someone comes up with a clever workaround.

I'm not playing TQ, so PMFJI, but are these sites important to the game or just filler to add background and make it seem less like a fancy version of Ultima with prizes?

Not quite sure yet. It is giving some background info (and names) of some of the characters. This info may be needed somewhere down the line.
