i can see myself sending the test post to paintover.

Is this the sign we've been waiting for to stop worrying about the Nov 1 post?

You meant Oct 1st Right? Wink

I'd say "Yes it is" if the Oct 1st Post was done by Texel.

But sadly it wasn't Sad so we can't duck out of this, that easily.

Problem is that we're not getting feedback on this one unless we are missing that too. It is definitly a layered picture.

And the possibilities "S to L" of "grow" or how about even adolescence.

Really though, how many possible "puzzles" can a simple image like this contain? Well, there's steganography, layered photos, hidden exif info, messages in the image itself, and that's about it. We've tested and retested all these possibilities to the point where we're repeating ourselves every 2 thread pages.

Done some more thinking....

Re-decrypted the text....comes out to "always to have lessons to learn i"

the quote is missing the word "Oh"...

So if we use the 'standard' formula, we have the following...

Site: ?
User: Alice
Pswd: ?
Files: Oh.*
Directory: ?

Any more ideas....

Uhh...

Here's the original quote:

Quote:

'But then,' thought Alice. 'shall I never get any older than I am now? That'll be a comfort, one way--never to be an old woman--but then--always to have lessons to learn!'

I'm not seeing where the "Oh" is missing Question

Ok, wait, I see now what you meant...

"Always to have lessons to learn! Oh, I"

Are you sure that the last character of the Oct 1st photo isn't the exclamation point, not the letter "I"?

[edit] looking at it again, I'm pretty sure that last character is the exclamation point. The rest of the quote uses standard spacing rules, why would the suddenly abandon it by omitting both the exclamation point, a space, a comma, and another space before the letter "I"?[/edit]

Yeah... since there isn't an "i" or "!" in the quote, you can't be too sure what the last letter is, since there is no other repetition of the character to verifty. But, I would say that it is probably a "!".

We should confirm it. If the last character is an I. then maybe the missing part is ! or exclamation or exclamation/point. There's got to be something here.

eye see i.

Okee dokey. I have figured this out! It makes complete sense to me, and that's all that matters. Very Happy Now, it's very possible that what I'm about to say has all been said before, and I have a feeling it has, but not in the creative and imaginative way that I'm about to say it. So...

The girl is playing hide-and-seek. That's the purpose of paintover. The Urchins are hiding, off the grid, and their purpose is to seek. They think they're seeking whomps, but Caesar's actually seeking the Averys by tracking the whomps. So that's the girl.

Stol: Lost. Caesar is seeking those who are lost.

Skeleton: Caesar is seeking lost dudes who may or may not be dead...but if they aren't dead, they certainly aren't in plain sight anymore...ghost-y sort of things. Reminds me of that thing Dina said about being like a ghost, about to pass through the wall.

Now, as for the overall picture...there's a girl - innocence. She opens her eyes, gets disillusioned as the innocence fades and the world drains of color (reminds me of Caesar's last paintover image). She still sees something through rose-colored lenses, though..."lost" gives her hope. Because, if the skeletons that she seeks are only lost, then they can be found again. Take "girl" in this paragraph and replace it with "Jesse."

Booyah! I either just solved Oct. 1 or I proved that Jesse is a girl. I'm not sure which. It's almost 4 in the morning, go easy on me. Mr. Green

EDITED: Omnie's theory... (see above)

Mr. Green

It certainly does seem to answer every aspect of the picture, and I, at least, can't think of any reasons to argue against it; I think it's the most 'fleshed' out argument we have had so far regarding Oct. 1. Well done, Omnie, and at four in the morning too! (And kudos, of course too, to all the people from whom you so shamelessly borrowed ideas! Wink ) (Now just wait for everybody else to see this theory, and shoot it down!)
I'd also like to point out the connection with Alice in Wonderland (the "always have lessons to learn" quote) (another reason to think Jesse's a girl? j/k! Wink ). Since it seems likely, based on Yanka's theory (and another theory, or post, of yours, Omnie, if I'm not mistaken), that Jesse did in fact witness his mother turning into an agent, as well as being aware of the brainwashing of his foster parents, it wouldn't be that surprising if Jesse felt like he'd stepped through the looking glass.

EDIT: I realise you wrote that theory in four in the morning, Omnie, but I just realised that you seem to have bypassed the whole "I C" (derived from the girl, "eye see", I believe?) argument; do you think that's just "I, Caesar", or that there never was anywhere to go with "I C" thing to begin with? That she simply is playing hide-and-seek and there never was any double meaning to be derived from it?

EDIT: Spelling
