Fixed. There are still a couple of rendering issues in the About box, but it's usable.

I noticed that the online solitaire solver that used to be located at rochester.edu (linked on the Wiki and on Schneier's page) is no longer available. At least I can't find it. So, I decided to create a new one. Please check it out at http://pxcshuffled.dnsalias.org/pxcshuffled and reply with some feedback if you have any.

It's geared directly toward solving this card and has a pretty intuitive interface so it should be quick and easy to use.

I've still got plenty of improvements in mind for it (add links, images, ranking statistics) but with with so many changes promised for the next 2 weeks I thought I better roll it out sooner rather than later. I'm specifically thinking of what Rand0m mentioned regarding MC releasing a couple of puzzle hints at the party next weekend. If they had it in mind to give a hint for Shuffled I'd much prefer to solve it before their hint, thank you very much!

It also accepts a couple of URL parameters so you don't always have to type in your handle and hide the "About" box at the top. Just add ?handle=your_cool_name&hide_about=X to the end of the URL given above (and replace "your_cool_name" with your own handle).

Can't get it to work.......

Strange. It was working locally but when I checked it from another computer I got some Javascript errors. I recompiled some things and it appears to be working again. Sorry for that.

Nice page smartyman, (although still a little funny on Firefox).

For quick identification. it might be an idea to bold any plaintext that contains the words (letters) 'the' or 'and'.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Shuffled, we all know, was not meant to be as hard as it's turned out to be, but Adrian said that when they came to re-examine it they could understand why it had turned out as it had. Naomi said there's a clue they could give which would rapidly lead to a solve - but it seemed pretty clear that they don't want to give it and are hoping one of us will make the mental leap.

Is the page coming up for you at all? My router overheated a couple of times in the last two days and spontaneously rebooted, which was the actual cause of the javascript errors. I'm planning to pick up a new one later tomorrow so hopefully everything should be more stable after that. But it sounds like you're not getting anything to come up at all. If that's the case, what browser are you using? Do you have any security settings that could be preventing the page from working properly? I'm really at a loss.

I had a few thoughts that the passcode for the cipher might be held in a cryptic interpretation of the outward looks should leave you cold. I had a quick look through thesaurus and by applying kurt's clue that cold means oversensitive there are a few candidates. Another idea i had was that with the star on the joker it might be a cryptic clue to looking outwards to the stars/heavens. Although i haven't been able to work out what would make you cold. I though polaris would fit in by meaning the pole star (cold) as well as fitting the outward looks part. I thought that maybe this may apply to the compass looking part in the middle of the card and you might have to offset the letters by the difference between magnetic and true north ie: 3 or 4 spaces right or left. But i haven't come up with anything yet.

Anyway just a lot of ideas and no solutions but maybe if i get someone else thinking...

I'm getting the page to load fine.....

It's letting me use the Handle, Passphrase and Own Message ok but when I click 'Decipher' an 'error on page' message appears......

Also, when I mouseover the 'Decipher' button a 'Javascript :void (0) appears.....

Thanks for the info RedZed333. I just replaced the old router with a new one so would you give it one more try? The "javascript:void(0)" is normal when you mouseover the Decipher button, and the page seems to be working for others (like Jaikaiman, daeloki, MBEAR, Thanar, rlp6028, and jimmyt) so I'm hoping this will fix it for you.

Feel free to PM me if you still have trouble so we don't clutter up this thread with anymore troubleshooting.

Well it's a fine line to walk between giving credit where it's due and spilling the beans on an evil dastardly plan! Muwahahaha! Wink
I'll PM you about linking to the site just so I don't do something stupid that will get me in over my head! Shocked
