Im sure its nothing but..you never know

It a lot like metafilter or, like the poerson above me said, De.lic.ious. It just a blog tracker.

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been running this thing over and over in my head. I've spent at least 30 hours searching the web for any hint as to who might have made this video. I've called the Niobara Cty Sheriff's office and the desk clerk "hasn't heard of anything like that". I pretty sure he thought I was insane. I don't think it ever aired. There hasn't been any reply to the postings that I have made in various WY forums either. So if the TV Hijack never occured, then why the elaborate backstory? If it's an ARG then why not make more, or make it easier to follow? If it's not an ARG then what is it? Just a hobby? Too many questions...

There has to be more in the images that I'm not picking up on, or something in the soundtrack. Whoeve made this must have some kind other background in film or editing. It's too well put together to be a one-off or a random "I did it for the lulz" kind of thing. Finding the maker or something connected to them seems to be the way to go. I know I'm going on at length, but this has gotten into my head. There seems to me to be a message.

I just wish I could figure out what it is.

re: The Wyoming Incident

I too have been really intrigued by this. The YouTube video is much more disturbing than the original Google Vid. I always figured the broadcast signal intrusion story was a hoax and this new story about a DVD being left on a door step is laughable at best. But whoever created these videos has a very acute sense of what disturbs people and that is interesting in itself. It is almost psychopathic. I wonder if I'd be disappointed or relieved to learn this is some viral marketing campaign.

Come on now. Minus the fact that there is some miniscule chance that the vids might make you feel a little queasy (whether it be from actual hidden sound or your own overactive imagination coupled with the power of suggestion), there really isn't anything more to be "frightened" by than if you were watching a low budget 'The Ring'. It's just a video...nothing's gonna pop out of your computer and take your head for it's own.

Just in case anyone is still wondering -

I live about an hour from Lusk, WY, and there has been NO mention of this in any of the local media. I know that it has already been established, but I just wanted to throw in my .02.

I have to agree. This videos aren't scary--I don't feel threatened when I watch them, or anything--but... They are extremely disturbing. It's like Paranoia Agent's opening, where people in deadly situations stare at the screen laughing at you. So creepy.

re: Wyoming Incident

Glad someone agrees with me. I think the most disturbing aspects of the video are:

--The faces, obviously. I was always creeped out severely by police composite sketches and e-fits when I was a kid, so that's probably why.

--The music in the YouTube version is just very ominous

--The lack of polish on the entire thing. It reminds me of the sparse but powerful style of serial killers like the Zodiac Killer (another thing that creeped me out severely when I read about it) especially in the font style and messages such as "you are ill".

If you have a masochistic fancy for this sort of stuff, as I do, I suggest listening to some number station audio files late at night. That will make you keep the lights on for sure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_stations

Eager to see how this whole mystery unravels!

Hm... There's only been a handful of views on that nbw video, despite it being almost a year old! The more and more I look at this, the more confused I get. Where else are these videos hiding?

re: Wyoming Incident

Was there anything different about that video compared to the previous version on YouTube? Can't see it as I'm at work and we have Google Vids blocked.

Just noticed snopes.com has a thread of inquiry into this also. Google "wyoming hijack" to find it. One poster thinks it may be a viral for Lost, but i dunno, the videos have been online for too long and they're not getting very many views.

Yep--all three videos are different. Same 333-333-333 thing at the beginning, but after that they have different text and different faces.

Info from the movies

From the description of the third video:

Quote:

My brother had quite an interesting collection of underground, bizarre videos. This video (which he only called "3") was his favorite in his entire collection, despite running only about a minute. He never wanted it uploaded to the internet because he was sort of selfish when it came to his rarer videos. He liked the idea that he was one of the few people who had seen this. I found it a year after his death (I had pretty much forgotten about it), in a box filled with videos of his I guess he'd just recently burnt to DVD. I have no idea who made the video and only a vague idea as to where it came from. My brother came back with it one summer after visiting some friends up around Yellowknife.

Another use of the "Found the DVD" method, three videos and three different methods to "hook" people in. (Fake broadcast interrupt).

But I think it might be worth it to check out Yellowknife.

2nd video comments are:
Quote:

some body left this video file on a dvd they left on my doorstep. it might just be a prank but its pretty creepy so i guess ill just upload it here

if any of yall reconize who made this video are the video just tell me

thanks to chad for helping wit tags

Who is this "chad" person?

Will be looking more into this. But /agree it is bad forms if the PM is violating the TOS here.
