Cruel 2 B Kind game @ ARGfest- register now!

Cruel 2 B Kind, the big public game of benevolent assassination, is coming to ARGfest-o-con!

You can play Friday early evening. The neighborhood will be North Beach or SOMA-- we're still deciding. Either is quite easy to get to from the fest hotel.

The new rules and registration are now available!

Be sure to learn the "Booty Variant" of the game.

Sign up here. http://cruelgame.com/signup/

See you there!

I want to play but my original team mate will not be in town early enough for this event. So, who wants konamouse on their team?
---------------

I'm starting the 2007 SWAG Museum. I tried to update the wiki but was thwarted in my attempt by some SQL query hidden crap. We'll get it going as soon as we can so folks know what is coming and what they might want to contribute.

So, here is what I am bringing to the table:
[CTW1] - the limited edition CTW/ARGFest Las Vegas Beer Stein
[Sammeeeees] - the Spoocheeeee disc (all pieces & snake), metal pot holding piece 2, my T-shirt
[LCP] - Vic's hat (and the book that went around the world), complete set chips in display case, piece of gun handle
[MHC] - Big Foot
[UH] - advertising postcard, T-shirt
(may be more, have to check my shelf at home)

I'd love to be your teammate!

Oops, my bad. I missed running a script in a recent update to the MediaWiki software. It should be working now....

It's up and running on the wiki. Please let us know what you are bringing to show off! Helps the planners know how much table space we need in the back of the conference room.

Hmmm…

How dangerous it is to just stumble in here. Gives one ideas…and also a lot of travel research…

Y'all do need a token non-ARGer, I assume. P)

EDIT: Well you should just assume you do because I'll be there either way. God bless the kindly people at AMEX Rewards Travel.

For the mere cost of some arbitrary number of AMEX FunBucks™ they will jet-propell me to lodgings A little bit away from the event hotel.

I'll have to walk a bit, but look at these reviews!
"Terribly Run"
- Raves Joan Harvey

That just makes it easier to catch!

"Not Customer-Friendly"
- by Jill Keimach

I've worked in Customer Service; that just shows that they have good sense. Plus I can pretend I'm staying In Faulty Towers. (We shouldn't talk about the war!)

In all seriousness, It's a historic building remodeled to be a hotel with a modern nautical theme and a maritime museum inside it, they have special "Tall rooms," and it's called the ARGonaut. They may as well have just called it "Vortech's Pirate Hotel". I'm very excited about all of this. I love San Francisco and I'm glad I'll be able to think of you as "People I've met" without mentally inserting an asterisk. P)

I believe the term is "squee."

So some questions:

On the registration questionnaire it asked about the Exploratorium, but I don't see that on the wiki schedules. What's the story there?

Since I don't see anything scheduled for Sunday night I was planning to indulge my vice for fancy-pants food. I've wanted to go to Gary Danko for a while and since it looks to be well within walking distance, it's the leading choice. If someone has a better suggestion, I'd like to hear it. If someone wants to join me for my fancy-pants dinner I'd like to hear it.

Also in the "it's less fun alone" category is the C2BK game. I'd like to be part of a team.

Continuing with our theme, Who wants to look like an idiot from the future with me? The wiki says it's more fun than you'd think.

I am always up for a fancy-pants dinner, and Gary Danko looks great. And I'll be in town Sunday night, so...yeah. But me on a segway - not so much (they do the same thing here in DC on the mall - freaky to pull up at a stoplight at 7:30 at night [it's dark out] and have a herd of segways pull up at the corner).

I'm always game for good quality food (anticipating about $50-60 without wine) - as long as I'm at the SF airport by 9p I think I will be okay. I will hold you responsible for reservations.

Hey all! A quick tip on Cruel 2 B Kind team organizing...

If you check out the rules on the website (www.cruelgame.com) you'll notice that when one team assassinates another team, they immediately join forces and play together for the rest of the game as an alliance.

So even if you show up alone, you won't be alone for long -- just kill or get killed, and presto! You're part of a bigger team.

By the end of the game, it's usually one mob versus another mob. So no worries about playing solo -- you won't be solo for long...

Fancy Pants Dining update:
OK, Gary Danko is filled that evening, but put me on a wait list. Since It is obviously imprudent to count on a cancelation, especially with timing constraints I have made the following reservations from which we can choose (I did my best guesses given availability, price target (SF be expensive, yo!) and trying to be close to a main artery so Konamouse could get straight to the airport from the restaurant. My "restaurant sense" is held in generally high regard, but I'm more then happy to hear feedback from you two or any body else - I've been making the reservations for 4 people, in case someone else wants in.):

EDIT from 3 years in the FUTURE! Do not go to Michael Mina. I went. Learn from me. Here is a short, non-exlusive list of places that are better then Michael Mina, and they are ALL less expensive. Fifth Floor (Maybe my fav in SF), Fler de lys, Campton Place, Spruce, La Follie.

Michael Mina 5:45p
Menu | Info
It's more than Danko, but it has that same world famous among food fans thing going for it. From talking to friends who have been, you feel like you get your money's worth (~18 dishes). Plus it's in the St. Francis which I have all kinds of Warm fuzzys for.

Jardiniere 6:30p
menu | Info
Everybody refers to this as "celebratory," for some reason. I'm interpreting this as meaning it's less formal/stuffy which might be a good thing.

Campton Place 6:15p
Menu | Info
One of the old standards of the town. This is one of the places my mother recalls fondly with a foggy look in her eye. Like the R-C Dining rooms it's one of those places the big chefs work before they can have their own place. Also on Union Square.

You know what would be a really helpful thing to have on the wiki?

Weather reports from San Franciscans as we get closer to the date.
