Dr. Pepper promotion / sweepstakes

Dr. Pepper has begun a 'game' called "Hunt For More".
While basically a typical sweepstakes where you get codes from packages or bottles of dr.pepper, the interesting component is this:

The codes get you clues - both physical and virtual - to the locations of the cash prizes ranging from $10,000US to $1M. It's open to US and Canada.

Clues will be released 1 set each day (1 physical + 1 virtual). If you start 15 days in, you can enter up to 15 codes and receive all 15 clues (for example).

It started today (Jan 23) and runs through Feb 21 (30 days), but codes can be entere through March 23.

I entered one code, but for some reason I didn't get any clues... I, however, clicked the instant win button rather than the hunt for more button then entered my code, so that might be why.

I did a search to see if anyone's reported getting the first clue, but less than a page returned on google for "dr pepper" and "hunt for more"... so. The game is on! (If you like Dr.Pepper Razz)

To start, got the 1st clue:

Physical Treasure Hunt:
1. Drive all you want, search by car, if you need a passport you've gone too far.

Virtual Treasure Hunt:
1. Our search begins in the land of the free, go back in time from EST.

Hunter's Hints (this is the same each entry)
- Yes, you are in search of a Treasure. But no shovels needed in this Hunt, it's not buried -- so no digging!
- The clues will get you there, eventually. Be patient; try to figure out the patterns that the clues lead you to.
- Figure it out yet? When you're ready to roll just play nice: stay off of private property, don't trample any flowers, in other words, keep everything the way it was before you got there.
- Hey, keep your boots on! To find this treasure, you won't be going inside. So keep them strapped on and keep your search outside.

Also, for the sake of the game, I won't post any more clues Smile since purchasing is involved, and possible forfeiture of prizes... *shrug*

AND: the coins are regional. I just read over the how-to's, and the 23 physical coins are spread over north america, one within each region (2 in Canada), and people registered at the site are placed within these regions, making the clues specific to your region. So the physical clues I quoted above are only good if you're in my region. Razz

The virtual clues are good for everyone, and by clue #27, a toll free # will be revealed, and the first to call it with the location of this virtual coin (located anywhere in the world, but not really) wins the coin.

Funfunfun. If it weren't for a required purchase of 30 dr.peppers in one month, I'd say it's a great game!
heh, but I'm on my way already. I love Dr.Pepper, and I'm going to try for all 30 clue pairs... I know, I've gone Screwy

"the hunt"
Do I understand the game

I, too, have read and reread the clues. I have 13 so far, I did not realize I could get all 23 coins. I thought according to my geographical region, I was looking for 1 coin. I thought my clues were sending me to only 1 destination. Am I confused? Any light you could shed on my search would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I can help!

From my understanding, the clues you receive for the physical hunt are only based on your geographical region. You'll only be able to find the coin that is in your registered region.
Though technically you could search for the other coin(s) if you get a hold of the other regions' clues.

The virtual hunt is open for everyone however, which just requires you to be the first to call a phone # which will be revealed later, with the correct location.

Clues
Hunt For More

I am head over heals into this game now. The clues so far have been leading me in separate directions which I have come to learn are setting the 4 boundries. These boundries have been shrinking with the revelation of each new clue. The hints are very cryptic and even local knowledge might not be enough to understand them. Anyone with an analitical mind should not have too much problem. I am stumped on a few but have gotten past them for now and working on shrinking the possible area some more. I just hope that the ones that I do not unfderstand are not hints I will need in the end.Oh well, I will be ready when the last clue comes out to take to the road at midnight, IF I have any idea where I am going. Its worth a few hundred miles of driving fo a cool MILL. Good luck everyone, that is everyone in the OTHER regions.

hehe that's what we hope right? That you know, maybe, we're the only ones in our regions to be following this Razz

can't wait until the last few clues that may narrow down to a meter or few area for the coin. Smile

What region is everyone in.
Myself and a couple of friends are doing this hunt from work. Were in New Orleans.

This is a fun game we only have 9 clues so we have to catch up. I would like to know if there are tons of people doing the same thing. Good luck to all.

Anyone speak legalese?

Drpepper.com wrote:

The Coins: Each of the Coins is worth a separate cash prize, varying in value. The Coins will be golden in color and may be contained within a small bag or other container within its hiding place. Each Coin will feature a Dr PepperŪ logo, along with the words "The Hunt for More", a unique prize number, and a special toll-free number (the "Coins") to call in order to claim 1 of 23 separate cash prizes (the "Treasures"). THE COINS MAY NOT BE PLACED IN THEIR HIDDEN LOCATION UNTIL FEBRUARY 21, 2007. The timing of the Coin placement is at the sole discretion of Sponsor.

Does this mean that the coins -won't- be dropped until the 21st, Or that they -might- not be dropped until the 21st?

Also, keep your bottle-tops. Just in case.

"Might not be". So they may or may not already be in place.

I suppose they want the option to wait until later in the contest to avoid someone accidentally finding a coin (ala metal detectors) without participating in the sweepstakes.

also adds a bit of 'chance' as well, since you'd really have to check back regularly after the 'maybe' date passes... if you don't and you only check once, but it's not laid yet, you'll never know if you're right or wrong. It bugs me a bit that they don't state a certain time when it will be dropped, but hey, it adds a level of dedication to give a better chance to people who are the (much) more determined to find the coin. *shrug*

Phone # for the virtual hunt may be released on Sunday. Get all your clues!
