Somerset Libraries

The only library in the BA4 region appears to be:

Shepton Mallet Library
2, Market Place
Shepton Mallet
Somerset
BA4 5AZ

It's not quite the same postcode and the Market Place seems newer. Curious that 5AZ seems a somehow more fitting postcode for a library than 2NB.

The postcode doesn't appear to be legit--at least, streetmap.co.uk doesn't recognise it, but that doesn't always mean anything. It didn't google either.

I think the letter is just supposed to be showing us that they're sending the message on the back of their rubbish.

I agree. I thought that it was just a piece of scrap paper indicated by the scoring out and that the hint was the Wak8 on the back.

Just a thought - library's have referecnces in certain areas - could WAK8 be a clue trherefore? but youd need to know the right library to investigate...
and it seem unusual only one person got a plushie - which suggests they wanted to make sure it was someone they could trust to attend on Sunday...so it must be relevant there.

Oh, and I agree with Tarim - the Shepton Mallet Library - can anyone get down there?
Can't be a co-incidence that the address is Market Place...

And added to that, as Pat and Dave say, it cant be a coincidence that the post-code is wrong.
2NB we are given, intstead of the correct 5AZ
Is the 2 aspect significant in the address is 2?
Can we use 2NB with WAK8 somehow? Im no code genius...

And are we sure no one else has a cow with another code on it?

Finnally - has anyone read Chariots of the Gods? Any sort of parable in it?

Wak8
Is case important?

I've been away for a bit, but should we be considering that the fact that only the "W" is in uppercase to be of significance? I'm thinking that if it were supposed to be a postal code or whatever, it would be listed in all uppercase. Obviously, that could just be to throw us off, but if you think about how someone writes stuff down when they are doing making a note, I think that psychologically it makes sense that the upper/lowercase might be important.

Just a thought.

Chariots of the Gods is typical Von Daniken - it's basically about how all the encient megalithic structures of the ancient world like the pyramids and the nazca plateau were actually constructed by aliens, and the Gods that people worshipped were just aliens. (the nazca lines are supposedly "runways" for flying saucers. Not quite sure why a VTOL craft would need a runway, but there's no telling Von daniken).

It's an interesting read, but it's widely regarded as being a bit thin on the ground when it comes to veracity.

Eight folds

Okay, I can't tell how this could be of any significance, but I notice that the paper has eight sections on it because of how it was folded. Could the Wak8 be referencing that?

I'm also wondering if the 8 is really the symbol for infinity because of the way it is written. Which could also, obviously, be a reference to a mobius strip.

EDIT--I just looked up "Wak8" via Google and in wikipedia. Wikipedia lists "Wak" as the name of the creator God in some African religions. If that is what the "Wak" means, then the 8 really could be the symbol for infinity, since many religions consider God to be infinite.

Of course, this could also be just an enormous coincidence.

Patrick R. Withers

Googling this name from the letter, I found a scientific abstract on genes in adult cat heart muscle cells. Again, could be just another coincidence.

This should probably be marked "solved":

It was part of a Vignere cypher that spanned at least three different topics, which are now all over the place! Things got a bit confusing here for a while, and it's tough to try to get caught up.

Oh, that was funny. Makes me feel less stupid about my post. Thank you, Thunderwolf--well worth the price of admission!
