Suddenly there's almost too much here to wrap my mind around, especially since we have no way of knowing what is related and what isn't. I got my email that I can start posting in the cubist forum. I don't know if we should start discussing the game there or not....it might start to cloud things. Maybe we should just stick to replying to what characters post there.

I have a feeling Juan and his "clues" or whatever are not related. I have a feeling he's game jacking. I think all that is truly game-related is the videos, the youtube profile, the blog, and the cubist forum. But I'm kind of new at this, so i may be wrong.

The new moderator at the cubist forum, who posted the tip about video 5, was the newest member (iliketofix) when we first discovered the forum. I remember noticing that right away (I posted it back then so you can check back, lest anyone think I have some inside knowledge). I wonder if the PM took over an existing forum somehow in order to add to the illusion that this has been around for years.

Quote:
The Robert mentioned on Gregory Miller's blog is not Donald Wilson's stepson.

He must've had a great laugh when we called that guy's number and got the heart monitor beeps and then the other number that was disconnected. If I was a PM and people did that I'd think it was a hoot.

Did some searching for duality in mythology. Oddly enough, the second link I found was to Lostpedia. "great" we've been playing a game for something else. But, I doubt it's related. then I found a link to Harry Potter. It seems the theme is indeed recurring. finally, I found a link to a forum that really isn't related, but I did find this tidbit:

Quote:
I've begun to look at the stories of duality in mythology as describing essentially what it means to be human. It's the social structure concepts of free will and thus moral responsibility, good/evil, etc. These are ideas that we, as deterministic organisms, have developed and applied to our society in order to maintain stability as a population. This concept allows us to create civilizations where elements against system stability can be labeled as "Bad" and thus have the rest of the population move to disconnect this "bad" element from the population. This increases the health of the group and allows it to continue.

This sounds very close to some of the other things He has mentioned, i think.

The forum can be found here:

Well, what is the verdict? Should we stay here to discuss the game and only go to the Happy Cube to interact with the PMs, or should we move the whole discussion to the Happy Cube?
Whatever people decide on is fine with me. I just don't want people on here to get annoyed at In-Game things, and I don't want the PMs to get into any sort of trouble. Because, quite frankly, I am really enjoying this thing. Smile
I'm "Kyllian" on the HC site, because it automatically changes Killian to Hugian, which annoys me.

he said he'd only be using the hc forums to communicate with us, so i think it's best to keep the main conversation here.

My membership request was also accepted, though as of now I'm not going to post.

On duality, the first things that spring to mind are Janus, the two-headed Roman god, and Gemini, the constellation twins.

I live in downtown Indy and about an hour and a half away from Boone county. So if anything is supposed to turn up around here let me know. I'll go get it. I want some swag in some form or another from a game!

EDIT: Well, I am officially weirded out. So they are talking about an Arcade wich is a few miles from my house, as well a a block away from my work "HAVE A NICE DAY" Cafe or "HAND CAFE". Hummm weird.

Glanced at the Cube forum... They have interesting taste in movies (probably goes in the same bin with all the other refrences people have noticed, but probably don't mean much).

Cube
Oldboy

I think I need to run out to the video store, now. ^.^

Has Juan's blog always looked like this?

That's what it looked like the first time I saw it. But I noticed something else this time: a syntax error that mentioned

http://www.geocities.com/menteafectada/images.htm

so I went there and saw the banner and nothing else. A check of the source reveals this a function that randomly chooses a banner image.

Interesting, i thought. So i went back to the original page and saw

a different banner. He's got a number of different images to act as a banner, set to randomly choose.

One of the banners is easily readable. It's the same as the page's title.

There's also maybe a new site to watch:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.geocities.com/menteafectada/

The Banner/title text translates to extracts of an affected mind

EDIT: realized the banner text matched the title an was pretty obvious.

all of this made me reconsider my stance on Juan. In one of his posts he said "SIGO BUSCÁNDOTE". He repeated it twice. This translates to I follow buscandote. Buscandote is the title of a song (search buscandote on google) I'm checking out the lyrics now.

Buscandote appears to be a love song for the most part. But there are some sketchy areas. Maybe someone can help with the words that didn't translate for whatever reason:

Quote:
I feel happy dreaming about you
how it wanted to forget my anguishes
and darte these caresses mustias
how it wanted decirte
that I have passed the years of my life buscándote
Buscándote, Buscándote, I have spent the nights and the days
thinking about the joy that you cause
when I see you happen, when I watch to you to happen

Quote:
and you would not think to me if I say to you
that whenever I see you it stops the heart
that to verte I feel because gives pasón me
that perhaps my mind is lost the reason
to deal with componerte this estúpid

Like so many dead ends in this game, this is probably nothing. This straw grasping is frustrating.

Did some more looking into the Nine Sisters and found this:

http://www.indigogroup.co.uk/edge/9sisters.htm

This also seems similar to the information I posted earlier about duality in mythology. He didn't seem to like the nine muses response on the happy cube forum.

A post on His (do we have a name for this guy, please?) blog mentioned that the interlopers were sisters and the answer to his question was seven. We assumed that meant seven sisters, eventually leading to the Muses. But there are nine muses. Well....it seems that 7 and 9 are interchangeable in mythology:

Quote:
While the cosmological significance of the number seven can be traced ultimately to the position and prominence of the seven main stars of the constellation Ursa Major, the number nine is more difficult to pin down. The two numbers are closely linked, as Celtic traditions testify. In Irish and Welsh myth and cosmology, seven and nine are as interchangeable as they are in Altaic and Uralic lore, with a similar emphasis on themes associated with images of the axis mundi, and as expressions of wholeness and totality. Of particular interest here are certain groups of nine women or goddesses, such as the nine maidens whose combined breath heats the cauldron of the Head of Annwfn in Caer Sidi, the rotating island-fortress of the poem Preiddeu Annwfn; the nine sisters who rule the Fortunate Isles; and so on. Various Celtic texts also refer to a tradition of nine-roomed royal halls - although seven or twelve rooms are also mentioned in this context, again indicating a cosmological motif - which is reminiscent of the nine worlds or dwellings claimed for Yggdrasill.

And how about this:
Quote:
The association of the cosmic centre with groups of nine or with ninefold structures appears to have arisen partly because that number is three multiplied by itself. The cosmos has three main levels - sky, earth, and underworld

333-333-333 anyone? 9-9-9...not 666.

EDIT:
Forget all my stuff about the nine sisters and the axis mundi. iliketofix responded to me on the happy cube forum.

wait a minute. the letters that he capitalized in his blog postings... they seemed to be strings of consonants. i wonder now if any of them were actually names in this language (is it welsh or gaelic? i can never remember). this is something worth looking into i think

Was doing some searching, and found this quote on Wikipedia:

Quote:
"The muses are typically invoked at or near the beginning of an epic poem or classical Greek hymn. They have served as aids to an author of prose, too, sometimes represented as the true speaker, for whom an author is only a mouthpiece. Originally, the invocation of the Muse was an indication that the speaker was working inside the poetic tradition, according to the established formulas."

The fact that he labels them as Interlopers may indicate that he intendes to work outside of any poetic tradition or established forms... The fact that he mentions them at all is probably his way of announcing that the game, or whatever it is he intends to do, has begun. Just a thought. It could also mean he's just acting as a mouthpiece for someone else.

Also,

Quote:

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of those strings of capitalized letters/words? If not, I may run through this thread and try to compile one.

EDIT: Here's a breakdown of the capitalized words, based on what I have been able to gather from this thread so far:

Deleted Blog Entry: UDSDSWCWHHWTSBHB
Users, Down, Started, Dream, Sick, Worry, Crazy, Wrong, Hurt, Horror, Worry, Take, Struggled, Battle, Hurt, Bye

4th Video E-mail to Esteed: RAKUPICGIGTSDDCRSDDDW
Refused, Angry, Killed, Upset, Psychopath, Impulses, Cracked, Gone, It, Gone, Target, Strange, Destroyed, Dependent, Weeps, Crying, Repulsive, Sores, Dead, Dead, Disgust, Waste

Blog Questions --
Answer #1: CSPIG
Carvings, Strayed, Pretentious, Irate, Gone

Answer #2: SIPSGH
Serves, Inspires , Path, Serve, Game, Humanity

Answer #3: TGKODAIUSEDMI
Took, Gone, Kicking, Obituary, Dead, Aggravating, Interlopers, Unworthy, Stop, End, Difficult, Misbehave, Interlopers

Working on the assumption that all these strings are encoded using the same cipher (if not, it would be so difficult to break it would defeat the purpose), I did a frequency analysis on all of the "messages" which I have also attached.

I also made note of the phrase "TOPIC: THE RECURRING THEME OF DUALITY IN MYTHOLOGY". Note that all the strings are shorter than this string... So it's possible this is some kind of key phrase, a clue and a key phrase. There's duality for you. This is something I'll look at later, but I think I've had enough of pushing letters and numbers around for one evening. ^.^;;;

Oh, something else I ran across that might be interesting: http://www.crystalinks.com/numerology3.html. Check out the sections on Seven and Nine. Lots of raw material there.

Hey folks, been audiencing this game.

Juan's posts aren't really cryptic or anything. "Sigo buscandote" means something like "I'll keep searching for you" or "I'll keep seeking you."

If y'all like, I can translate the whole thing, but I really don't think there's anything useful in there.
