wow, uh, has anyone else read the short story now on the happy cube site? i don't really see how it's relevant to anything, but it's pretty eerie.

New thread at Happy Cube.

Any leads on the "Nine Sisters means..." clue? Other than muses?

Unrelated:
the new story makes reference to "Jesus Is Just Alright." A google search turned up this quote: "Jesus is just alright with me. Faith is believing what you know ain't so." - Mark Twain

Believing what you know ain't so struck a chord, given the nature of what we do on this forum.

So I sent a PM to iliketofix asking if he is sometimes someone else. Here is his response:

Quote:
That is an answer but not to the question I have asked.

I want my sentence Finished.

So...he is sometimes someone else. But he's getting impatient with the sentence.

EDIT: I'm done for the night. Good luck.

i've gone over "the masks we wear" three times and i still can't make a single connection that isn't a real stretch of the imagination.

Wikipedia nine sisters mentions a string of volcanoes in California, but I tried to answer it and he didn't go for it. Googling nine sisters doesn't turn up much, if we add means to it I get nothing. May have to sleep on this one.

As for the story part- I picked up on the "uncanny valley" phrase- wikipedia describes it as the effect where something that is say completely unhumanlike, we tend to amplify the human characteristics and identify with it, but if something is almost human but not quite then we focus on the difference and it makes it somehow horrific.

Also, in one post on the boards in the '04 part, it talks about getting new smileys, but when you go to post it always has an "image not found" for the Surprised smiley. Not sure of the significance of that.

I asked for some clues to the sentence mystery. Here is His reply:

Quote:
Duality, the concept of good and Evil, order and Chaos, Yin and yang; these are the Only clues you shall receive.

Capitals that don't belong: ECYO
Evil
Chaos
Yin
Only

ECYO = GODS?

Nine sisters means nine gods?

"There are nine Gods and later nine muses."

Got it!

With a little figuring based on Esteed's excellent answer, I guessed "Nine sisters means nine brothers." That's the answer....now what do we do with it?

I sent Him a PM asking if the answer told us anthing about him....no answer yet, but in the forum he posted:
Quote:
Now that you all, whether you fully realize it or not, know something about me, it is time for me to learn something about you.

You will know what I Require when the time comes.

Read over "The Masks We Wear" and any other stories posted. Do not even try and contact me personally until after Video Five is released. Even then, it will more than likely be me that initiates any kind of communication.

So now we wait until Monday? What time Monday?

Lesson learned, do not overlook the obvious. ^.^ Outside of the greco-roman context, tho, I fail to see how nine sisters implies nine brothers. This may be useful in the future.

i really hope the implied new stories connect somehow with "the masks we wear", because i can't make heads or tails of its significance by itself.

obviously it is supposed to have been inspired by him or his group somehow, but it seems like a standalone story aside from that. has anybody looked into who may have written it?

OK....so what do we know about our creepy video guy?

We know that...

He is carrying on the ancient work of his "people."
He is sometimes somebody else.
Nine sisters means nine brothers.

Anything I'm missing?

The more I read the masks we wear, the less I can make of it. I don't want to overanalyze and end up on the wrong track. I think we just need to wait at this point. And try to figure out what's up with the sentence. I can't find any reference to the story anywhere else. Although I did encounter a poem by the same name.

And now we wait... Good solve though guys... and great theory Esteed. Now we have to look at the nine sisters and figure out what the corresponding nine brothers might be. Off to wikipedia!

Back. Here are the nine female (good) muses.
* Calliope (Chief of the muses and muse of epic poetry)
* Euterpe (muse of lyric song)
* Clio (muse of history)
* Erato (muse of erotic poetry)
* Melpomene (muse of tragedy)
* Polyhymnia (muse of sacred song)
* Terpsichore (muse of dance)
* Thalia (muse of comedy and bucolic poetry)
* Urania (muse of astronomy)

Perhaps some of these capitalized letters tell us the names of the nine Brothers?

Also found this lower down: "They have served as aids to an author of prose, too, sometimes represented as the true speaker, for whom an author is only a mouthpiece" Perhaps that is what iliketowatch sees himself as? Only a mouthpiece for the Evilmuses? Or perhaps he is one of the muses himself? Inquiring minds want to know....

that's good since he says the story is not his.

Only related thing I could find about nine brothers comes from Plato's story of Atlantis:

http://www.pantheon.org/articles/a/atlantis.html

OK, so the 9 brothers in atlantis were the 9 brothers of Atlas. Who just happened to be 5 sets of twins (duality again).

New post from iliketofix. I'll post it here so we don't have to keep switching:

Quote:
stories we make

no moral

not Tragedies, not Thrillers, not lessons in the guise of entertainment

just cold Hate, Disgust, Repulsion, Unfeeling, Horror

a strong disconnect

no point

Don't know if anyone noticed, but the filters on the HappyCube forum are no longer intact. However, I wasn't able to get any interesting new information about this (other than "hug" meant "kill", and "smiled at" meant "stab")
