Well, i think you should just ask yourself if you want to participate in the game. These were the rules of the game, find the book, use the knife, destroy the video. I'm not sure if questioning the underlying motives or their existence is worthwhile until we either have said items or have proven that they dont exist .

csupo I am a PM for a game currently running right now. I took time away from my players to have a fun day off deaddrop hunting. No player should be beat around by an ARG because of bad planning by a PM. If it wasn't me someone else would have had to travel a lot longer of a trip than I did to find out the exact same thing I did. I am trying to right a unjust action tward all the players who have spent countless hours playing this ARGish thing to be d**ked around by someone who cant get the stuff together.

For God sakes this guy has had a year to plan. And these are the results we get on the first deaddrop. Its not about playing a game its about enjoying a game with my community.

I just don't understand why they would put so much effort into creating a backstory for this. They probably just assumed you'd buy any old book.

The lockdown at Happy Cube indicates to me that they've given it up. They were caught and now they either don't know what to do next or are throwing in the towel.

I think they thought something like this might happen. When I asked about the book on the thread with the conversation here was the reply:

Quote:
There is a very minute chance the book has been bought

That's shady.

Any ideas on what to do now? Wait?

The note on the dorr is interesting, especially since Jack referred to you as a traveller Sampson. It's unfortunate that his directions were vague, but his persistence seems to win me over that there is something there to find.

Well, I would have gone back if he could have worked out the kinks. A good Pm would be able to handle a situation such as this.

I think its only fair to give him a second chance, If he can figure a way to work this into his story. And find a better model for giving out information other than I can't tell you that.

This is just kind of irretating, I finnally get into a new ARG and it has to go all sour on me. If he lets this implode now then it would have imploded sooner or later. But if he can bring it back and turn this around, then I will give him a second chance. But its hard to trust a PM again once they have let you down.

It seems more reasonable to me that the game existed closer to the time of the first video's release, and that due to whatever circumstances, was never picked up until now. This would lead me to believe that these 'clues' have been latent, and although i agree that not checking beforehand to see if the book was still there was a bad move, it seems more like an honest mistake than a game-ending blunder.

Frankly, since the start this game has felt like a fly-by-wire. The blog being 'moved' to blogspot, post of the second video in the first few pages, the constant shifting of information around the blogs and forums. It just speaks to me of a re-awakening and not a 'creating'. if that makes sense.

Anyways, the character noticed your dissapointment in this thread a few pages back where you were bummed not to go anywhere. So he made a quick move to keep the audience interested. It just seems to me that the quest was a spur of the moment or a skip in the timeline. It backfired.

All i'm saying is that I believe the anger i am reading from your posts is hasty. Things went bad, yes, but i think we should either get in touch with the mason's directly or leave it be and let the 'children' figure it out.

I dono ...I guess we wait and see what happens.... If I put this much effort in the game I don't think I would throw in the towel. I think we threw him a curve. Maybe he scouted this stuff out like last year and someone found the knife and the store closed.... Though I would have gone to check to see if the stuff was still there before sending someone on a wild goose chase. I know djsampson is pissed. Nice hat by the way dj...lol

A better (?) interpretation of the observer's quote would be something like "You have failed again, brother. The plan lacks the book. Cease this foolishness. This ends now. They will delay the plan, and be punished."

Not sure this is still going, but thought I'd throw that out anyway. Who knows, maybe this is scripted. It'd have to be pretty nuanced to have an acceptable reason for this, but it's possible.

This is why PMs are not allowed to use this forum (an out of game source) as an IG reference. One it goes against TOS. Two you have problems just like this.

Sometimes PMs need to learn a lesson the hard way. I am not saying I want to see this game implode. I hope to see his creativeness in recovering this situation. The level at which this happened and how it happened shows the imaturaty level of this PM. This lesson will help him or them learn not to make a mistake of this kind again.

Trust me I was totally excited about deaddrops in my area. And I liked this ARG to this point. What they do next will determine a lot of things. Who will continue to play, if it stays on UF as a repritable ARG, and what people will say about this game.

I just hope he can make the right moves to put this back on track.

I had about a 45 minute conversation with some of the mods and well known UFers befor most of you heard anything about this. So most of my thought were calm and collected. But I didn't appreciate a PM messing up and blaiming me as a player.

The only reason I was mad is it could have been another ARGer out ther with not as much experiance in these ARGs as myself, traviling alot further than I had to. Loosing all faith in ARGs because of this little incedent.

I actually had a really good time out with my GF. It was nice to get out and drive around with her.
