Vienna Blood
Like you really needed my okay on this, but...

Number one certainly is the Vienna Blood Waltz by Strauss.

Going to reverify all the others as well.

If you want to hear the file, go to this amazon.com page and click on either the Windows Media or RealPlayer link for it.

 Audiophile songs
I think I've got all but number four

Uh, WolfHawk--I am guilty, as are other members of my very musical family, of going around whistling classical music (or humming it)... Embarassed Of course, we're a little better at it (especially my brother at times) than the person in Deus City Grey District is...

I really didn't need to even listen to it, but I did anyway, I've got a great recording--number 2 is correct as Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (my nephew actually has a LeapFrog drum which plays this piece on it, if you can believe it). It's very familiar, as PDQ Bach (a.k.a Peter Shickle), who is a great professor of classical music and does spoofs of it, has a rather funny recording of it where they do a play-by-play during the piece as though it were a football game. (Funny to us classical music nerds, anyway...)

Don't know if it makes a difference, but for Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, we're talking about movement one: Allegro. Listings vary a bit, but I'd probably list it this way:

2. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik I: Allegro, Mozart
or Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: 1. Allegro, Mozart

Amazon lists the entire piece this way (but doesn't split it up according to movements in this listing):

Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major ("Eine kleine Nachtmusik"), K. 525

Give a listen here, first track:

http://www.amazon.com/Mozart-Eine-kleine-Nachtmusik-Overtures/dp/B0000025PL/sr=1-2/qid=1170020441/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/002-3692154-3524010?ie=UTF8&s=music

I'm as positive as I can be without relistening to the entire symphony (which I will probably do to rule it out) that number 3 is NOT Beethoven No. 9. That's my favorite Beethoven symphony (and probably among the top five for me of all classical symphonies), and I've listened to it many, many times, so I'm pretty sure.

5. Carmen, opéra-comique in 4 acts Les Toreadors official amazon list, I think Carmen: LesToreadors Prelude, Bizet would be how I'd list it (but who knows how the game designers do)--listen at:

http://www.amazon.com/Thunderous-Classics-Ludwig-van-Beethoven/dp/B00004Y6SQ/sr=1-1/qid=1170020756/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-3692154-3524010?ie=UTF8&s=music

6. String Quintet In E, Op. 13 No. 5: Minuet (amazon track list), a.k.a Celebrated Minuet, Boccherini

Check amazon link--it is no. 4 in the track listing:

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Boccherini-Tristan-Fry/dp/samples/B00000416O/ref=dp_tracks_all_1/002-3692154-3524010#disc_1

7. Gayane Suite, for orchestra No. 3 Sabre Dance, Kachaturian is correct (that's the official listing at amazon, and they're pretty good at listing the stuff). Check out the recording for this at the same link as for LesToreadors above.

Okay, already given my opinion on number three (Roman Carnival Overture). Still working on number four. So this is the list in my view:

1. Vienna Blood Waltz, Strauss
2. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: 1. Allegro, Mozart
3. Roman Carnival Overture, Berlioz
4. Confused Not sure yet, but it sounds maybe a little familiar...I'll puzzle it out...Censored
5. LesToreadors Prelude, Bizet
6. Celebrated Minuet, Boccherini
7. Sabre Dance, Kachaturian

Audiophile No. 3
ARRRRRGH!!!

This is driving me absolutely nuts. Partly because the "tune" (note the sarcasm quotes) that the person is singing sound remarkably like a tune my half Polish/half Russian immigrant father used to sing to us. It is a German children's song called Kuckuk, Kuckuk and is about, as you would suspect, a cuckoo bird. If you're interested, go to this web page and click on the midi file link in the middle bottom of the page. It's so close it just makes me absolutely crazy.

Drat, drat, drat! This song will not beat me!!!!

Tune number 4
I may be way off here...

Do you think it is possible that the whistler is whistling a Beatles song called "Good Day Sunshine"?

Here's a link were you can listen to the beginning on amazon.com. If this is the right thing, I'm going to have to smack the PMs. This is a REALLY stupid song to have anyone without really solid musical skills try to whistle, let alone have us decipher.

More on song number four

A little info about the nefarious song number four. I think I've figured out that it is in 3/4 time. So right now, I'm looking up waltzes on amazon.com to listen to. You wouldn't BELIEVE how many waltzes I've listened to.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the info in case anyone else wants to take another stab at figuring that one out. PLEASE try. I'm begging--my ears are hurting what with listening to that, and listening to stuff for Composure... Drool

So, numbers three and four are the toughies...

I am clueless on number three, though it does sound like an off-key attempt at Pachebel's Canon in D.

Number four has to be Flight of the Bumblebees.

I want to know who the supposed 3 agents are who've completed this already.

I've written future-Chris Brown about that...he provided me with the list of the last 5 agents to solve Light&Dark and Unnamed, so it should be within his abilities to provide the list of people who solved Audiophile.

However, if those three solves were done by the PMs as I suspect, we're not going to find out that information.

Just wanted to give this a little bump...this is the only remaining unsolved one, correct?

I PM'd Bishop about it, so hopefully I'll get some sort of response. I know it's not the best person to ask given the task, but right now I will try anything.

The current unsolved list is

NOTED, AUDIOPHILE, TYPO, and COMPOSURE.

I could be missing one, but I think that's about right. To answer what I think you were asking, yes--this is the only unsolved Grey District puzzle.

Oops Embarassed , I solved Noted a few days ago but it had slipped so far down the forum list here I hadn't realised that no one else had got it. I'll go and type up the answer in the right thread (kicks self for inadvertently hogging solves).

Yes, my apologies...that is what I meant. Thanks!

It sounds like "Flight of the Bumblebee" to me.

OK, I have had an ongoing conversation with Bishop (in game, of course) and here's the results:

My first reply from Bishop:

Quote:
Bishop says: Well I'm not supposed to do this... but give me what you have and I'll cross ref them with the central database when nobody's using it.

My reply back:

Quote:
To Bishop: Here's what I think so far...

1)Vienna Blood Waltz
2)Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
3)This is the one I'm stumped on...have tried Pachabel's Canon in D
4)Flight of the Bumblebees
5)Les Toreadors (Carmen Prelude)
6)Celebrated Minuet
7)Sabre Dance

Let me know what you find out...some additional theories on number three have been Also Sprach Zarathursta and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, but I'm not sure if I buy into those.

I also added:

Quote:
To Bishop: By the way...thanks! And watch your back...I don't want you getting into trouble for helping out.

The response from Bishop:
Quote:
Bishop says: I gave a little hack and slash love on the database to your data, and it looks like all your answers (while overloaded with info) could check out based on some of the other agents findings. Oh... except #3. I got a red flag on that one. Sawyer asks if bumblebees is supposed to be plural? I don't have a clue and its past midnight and Sam is kicking us out, you might want to look that one up yourself.

So...#3 is the toughie. I had accidentally added a "s" to "Bumblebee" in the past, so I tried that along with a couple different variations of Canon in D/Pachabel's Canon in D and Les Toreadors/Carmen Prelude, to no avail.

Whoever figures out #3 will solve this first, it looks like. But at least we have confirmation on the other six!
