We need to make a video together!! I am right now offering my editing skills for this, and we can collaborate with video clips and pictures as well as music (perhaps the giest theme song?)

Well we have a max of 3 minutes so i think we setup a list of all the people that want to collaborate then we allot everyone equal time. once this is done we can edit them together.

It was suggested in chat, that we all come up with images, clips and audio, and place them in a public repository (i.e. the wiki) for anyone interested to be able to download and attempt to edit into their own three minute creation. At the end of that, we could then have a poll on here to determine which one we want to use.
Also, just my personal touch - but I think it would make a lot of sense to end the clip with the "There's no place like home" sequence from Wizard of Oz.

well, many hands make light work as "they" say, just as long as we've got enough time to review everyone's efforts and make a decision by the deadline.
Makes sense also, for people with an eye for 3 minute shorts to be doing the final editing.

For posterity, here's the text on http://www.sri-uk.org/sequence.html
Quote:
Dear Students,
These are indeed the worst of times for SRI. I understand that you may also have lost faith in me personally. My conscience is stained with guilt but I promise that I am working to right those wrongs. We must all band together now and I need your help. I have been in contact with a Dr Frankie Francis who is adamant that Eva is being held somewhere against her will in a near state of coma. It seems Eva is connected or 'wired into' 'subject180287.net' somehow. We must help her.
Dr Francis has found two possible methods to communicate with Eva: the first being a permanent uplink route: http://www.subject180287.net/uplink.html
Here, images can be sent via mobile phone directly to subject180287.net. Her theory is that if we send images to that site, they will trigger a positive emotional reaction in Eva. This may then prompt her to wake up. Once Eva is conscious, direct communication via subject180287.net may become much easier. The second method is more complex added to that we only get one shot at it. Dr Francis has found a way to send a video message directly to the subject180287.net core. Interfacing directly with the core should have a more dramatic effect then an uplink to the shell. Dr Francis and I are both convinced that Eva would be able to 'see' and 'hear' this sequence directly. This sequence therefore should have a number of goals:
1: To help Eva regain consciousness, the sequence should remind her of her past and who she is.
2: To give Eva as much information relating to what is happening to her and where she is. This will empower her to take control of the situation.
3. To remind her of her many friends. Eva needs the will to fight.
Your task as SRI students is to create this sequence. You will need to collaborate, since only one sequence can be sent. You will have to work together on this. Be as imaginative as you can. Eva will see this sequence as if it is a dream, so blocks of text won't be helpful. You should think in terms of the flow and shapes of dreams. We have seen how Eva's emotions affect her powers, so the aim should be to trigger her emotions somehow. Remember to use audio as well as visuals. Neither Dr. Francis nor I know how to structure this sequence. These are merely suggestions to get you thinking; this decision is collectively yours.
The sequence should be ready by Wednesday 28th of February 19:00hrs GMT. At this time we will meet again in the SRI student chat room and Dr. Francis will upload the sequence directly to the core. We will then observe the results.
The sequence should be no longer then three minutes in length. Once completed, the sequence should be uploaded to the Internet in a format that can be downloaded directly by Dr. Francis on the 28th.
At 19:00hrs GMT 28/02/07 you should be ready to provide the link to the download in the SRI chat room. I must stress again, we can only send one sequence. So we have to get it right first time… Good luck.

As to reminding her of who she is, perhaps some clips from her blog videos would work. And if anyone has video of the Watershed meeting, that would probably be good as well. They mention using audio as well as visual. The MeiGeist theme song is possibly a good idea, if a bit meta, and maybe we could have everyone with recording equipment just get a quick clip of themselves saying "Wake up, Eva" or something of that sort.

You know, I think that maybe Jediwannabe has a good point about the Wizard of Oz sequence. And I'm thinking of things we've all probably seen in movies where there are quick flashes of images that take only a few seconds to view, but which can make for an entire story.
Since the Wizard of Oz seems to be quite a thing with Eva, why don't we theme the whole sequence that way? What I mean is, we can correlate images from the things that have happened to Eva with images from Oz, to tell help her see that if Dorothy could manage to find her way back home, then Eva can, too. So I'm thinking something like, first show a picture of Miss Gulch, then one of the villains (maybe morphing from one to the other), and then showing the field of poisonous poppies and cutting or morphing to the product she ingested, etc. And at the end, show Dorothy saying, "There's no place like home" and then waking up as Eva.
What I'm thinking is that if it is themed this way, then the psychological pull to wake up will be greater--the Wizard of Oz hits fans of it on such a visceral level that it is almost like putting Eva under hypnosis to do things this way.

That's an excellent idea, Pied Piper. I'm not sure about using the Geist theme tune, as it may be the trigger to put her under.
Then again, if that was the case, she would have gone under at the Watershed.

I don't think we need to worry about whether things would make her happy or sad, we just need to trigger a strong enough reaction for her to come back to reality. I think the Geist theme tune would be a really good thing to use as she will likely associate it with very strong emotions.

Maybe it'd be an idea to end the clip with an eye opening, symbolising Eva waking up?

Let's get it started.... Thunderwolf, RothkoWoofed and I are in chat at #geist brainstorming about the video.
Thunderwolf is setting up a ftp place for file sharing (he'll post the details shortly) so everyone can post media for use on our "Save Eva" project.
Here's a couple of tidbits that might be useful:
From "the Wizard of Oz" , "toto I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore " and the tune "Optimistic Voices" (on Rapsody.com ).
Edit: "There's no place like home" sequence on YouTube .
Edit 2: Just as a reminder, here are our goals for the sequence video:
Quote:
1: To help Eva regain consciousness, the sequence should remind her of her past and who she is.
2: To give Eva as much information relating to what is happening to her and where she is. This will empower her to take control of the situation.
3. To remind her of her many friends. Eva needs the will to fight.

I have set up an ftp share where people can drop useful images, video clips, audio etc.
the details are as follows:
server: ftp.triplesix.co.uk
username: geistSPLAT triplesix.co.uk
password: NoCoincidence
Password is case sensitive and there's a 200 Meg quota on there, so don't fill it up with garbage
EDIT: To upload files you'll need an ftp client, I recommend filezilla which you can get from http://filezilla.sourceforge.net
enter the server in the "address" box,m and the UN / PW in their respective boxes.
the file list on the left shows local files stored on your computer. the list on the right shows files stored on the FTP server.
to upload just select the file you want to upload from the box on the left and right-click, then select "upload"
you can upload multiple files at once if you wish.

I'm probably doing something wrong but can't get into the ftp site! I don't even get a username/password prompt
pah! I'll be there tomorrow night though.
