The schedule for Friday evening is C2BK, dinner on your own, and then cocktails and registration begins at the Holiday Inn bar. Complete schedules with details will be available in the registration packets.

Here is the text of the C2BK confirmation email, in case you didn't get one:

Quote:

Dear Benevolent Assassin,

Welcome to the game. You are now registered to join our circle of benevolent assassins for Cruel 2 B Kind SOMA (Official C2BK Event – Live puppet master Jane! -- This game is the world premiere of the new and improved C2BK – now, with BOOTY! You will be playing with the new rules and assassins guide – learn em here) on March 2, 2007. This email contains important information about the location, timing, and the rules of the game. Be sure to read it carefully.

Location: Your game will be played in San Francisco, CA within the following boundaries: Market to Howard, 3rd to 5th. Both sides of streets and all public outdoor plazas are in bounds. Inside buildings or inside vehicles are out of bounds! - download map. During the game, you must remain within these boundaries.

Registered Mobile Phone: Your registered mobile phone is [whatever # you used]. You will need to have this phone with you when you play. The game will only accept commands from this mobile email address. We have sent a text message to your phone. When you receive it, send a reply with the word "cruel" in the body. This will complete your registration and confirm that you are able to play the game from your registered mobile address. If you do not receive the confirmation message (it should only take a few minutes), please reply to this email so we can try to help you figure out what's wrong.

Timing: Mobile check-in for the game begins at 3/2/2007 5:30:00 PM. You will check in by SMS texting your team name to 5108470035. You will receive a confirmation text message letting you know that you are checked in.

If you have not checked in before 3/2/2007 5:55:00 PM, you will not be able to play.

The assassinations begin at 3/2/2007 6:00:00 PM and will conclude by 3/2/2007 7:00:00 PM.

After the killing has reached its climactic bloodbath of kindness, Top Assassins Honors will be bestowed amid other acts of debriefing. The secret location of the picnic will be revealed by text message at the end of the game.

Before game day, be sure to:

· Learn the rules. It's a stealth game, so there's no official pre-game meetup or orientation. We expect you to show up ready to play!

· Download your benevolent assassin's guide. Review it now. You can also print a copy to refer to as a "cheat sheet" during the game.

· Add 5108470035 to your cell phone contacts list. This will make it easier for you to quickly send us mobile emails during the game.

· It's always more fun when you know your enemy… so send your friends a link to www.cruelgame.com, and invite them to play!

On game day, be sure to:

· Bring the mobile phone you have registered for your team. This is the only phone you will be able to use to play.

· Feel free to come in disguise if you want to prevent other players you know from recognizing you!

Best,

Jane and Ian

friday dinner after 7:00pm "on your own", although groups will probably be formed ad hoc. For late arrivals to the hotel (or people not doing C2BK), perhaps groups will leave word at the front desk where people might meet them for dinner. Otherwise, the bar is definitely a great place to congregate after 8-9pm (unless you have an underage guest with you, but I'm sure things will work out)

So far, I have 3 limousine trips with my little Prius lined up for SFO arrivals. No one coming into the Oakland airport has requested a pickup, so I'll assume they've all reserved a shuttle transport. The BART connection from SFO sounds easy enough for people not on my schedule, but you are still welcome to ask me for a pickup at the other end, for the final leg from the BART station to the hotel. Find me online somewhere and i'll give you my cellphone number to use on Friday.

Quoting from that confirmation email:

I didn't get an text message; I was wondering if everyone else did.

That would involve me actually remembering to do that over the course of a week or so.

I'd rather just have a native tell me What The Weather Is Like There Around This Time Of Year.

sorry, just joking, my Prius has great leg room but no amenities. PM me with your arrival time and we'll talk.

Weather-wise, the overnight lows were in the mid-30's last night -- that's barely above freezing for you Celsius types. Rain around here is sporadic, nothing you need an umbrella for. Friday really looks like it will be a good weekend, but I still consider anything under 65 degrees to be nippy.

For those of you Web 2.0 kids, here's my 30 boxes cal for ARGfest.
Calendar | iCal subscription | csv for outlook

And if you prefer google, for some reason (possibly there's a time zone issue - I don't use gcal.)

Speaking of C2BK - If any folks are planning on pre and/or post Cruel 2 B Kind cocktails. I recommend House of Shields at 39 New Montgomery (just off Market St. across from the Palace hotel). And I'm not just saying that cause the owners are friends of mine. Ok, maybe a bit. But it really a nice place to grab a drink, and is almost 100 years old so you can say you were just doing historical research.

That would be great... I'm guessing I'm not going to arrive at the hotel until at least midnight.

EDIT: Am I the only one who's arriving so ridiculously late?
