So far, I have 3 Prius-limo trips lined up for SFO arrivals.

...what's this about limos?

sorry, just joking, my Prius has great leg room but no amenities.

Embarassed oops, heh
our arrival's covered anyway - barting from sfo and hiking around the coast to the hotel. lots of time to spare, so why not? =)
I'm just heading out the door right now... see y'all in a day and a half!

awww, too bad you're not arriving at SFO - we could have hitched a ride together. Sad Speaking of which, is it safe to take the BART that late at night? Or should I just look for a shuttle/cab?

Quoting from that confirmation email:

Registered Mobile Phone: Your registered mobile phone is [whatever # you used]. You will need to have this phone with you when you play. The game will only accept commands from this mobile email address. We have sent a text message to your phone. When you receive it, send a reply with the word "cruel" in the body. This will complete your registration and confirm that you are able to play the game from your registered mobile address. If you do not receive the confirmation message (it should only take a few minutes), please reply to this email so we can try to help you figure out what's wrong.

I didn't get an text message; I was wondering if everyone else did.

FYI - I haven't played before but my ASSUMPTION is that they will only text you DURING the game.... so I don't think there should be any text messages prior.

friday dinner after 7:00pm "on your own", although groups will probably be formed ad hoc. For late arrivals to the hotel (or people not doing C2BK), perhaps groups will leave word at the front desk where people might meet them for dinner. Otherwise, the bar is definitely a great place to congregate after 8-9pm (unless you have an underage guest with you, but I'm sure things will work out)

I'll second a dinner plan. I doubt the bar will really have a problem with us three. For the sake of foresight though (ahem Saturday night), are there any other <21s attending?

Not sure this is useful but...

I can't imagine that the hotel bar doesn't serve food, but if they don't the under 21's and kids won't be able to go in. Any place that serves booze but not food can't have minors in (a friend of mine once had to kick out a couple because they had their 2 year old in tow). Sometimes bartenders will look the other way, but the ABC has been on a crackdown recently so it may be a bit tougher than usual.

There's a sports bar almost right across the street from the hotel called Knuckle's that serves food so could be a good alternative. They're a bit more sit down than stand and mingle, but they have a pool room that could be taken over if it's not too crowded.

Places that serve food and booze are not as common as one would expect (not really bad), but if anybody is interested I can provide some recommendations in the wharf and north beach. As memory serves.

And Varin - BART late at night is safe. I've taken it many times in the wee hours with no problems. Though if you hit any delays or anything, keep in mind that it stops running at midnight.

Again, the conformation email seems to disagree. I'll just act like nothing's wrong and hope for the best. It's usually a good strategy.

Hey vortech! you win the newly established c2bk award for spotting the most bugs left over in the game from our previous version. heh.

you can safely ignore the confirmation mobile text thing. that's from the old version. this new, lower-tech, easier-to-play version lets you play without mobile email or without SMS (you can call me live to do all the reporting in and killing.)

Sorry about that. I'm going give you 25 bonus survival points vortech for being so perspicacious. Smile

btw- we have a very good # of players now registered for the game. Over 50 teams have signed up - who knows how many will actually show up, but that's a lot for a 3 x 3 block radius. Madness, ensue!

Shocked

So, pretty much anyone found in that area is probably a player and it's gonna be a plethora of kindess all over the street. Wow.

 Friday morning

I would like to use this thread for attendees to coordinate meet-ups.

Friday morning: those of us in SF are meeting in the Holiday Inn lobby at 9:15am to figure out what the heck to do about breakfast.

Coffee

Then, we dance!

Oh darn, I missed it!

Growing up in Southern California, I was used to the ground shaking. Actually, they were kind of fun as long as no one got hurt and nothing broken. The adrenaline rush - the unknown - the weirdness of it all.

My cousin's wedding was rocked by an earthquake a few hours before - so we ended up with dueling rabbi earthquake jokes (there were two clergly men for the ceremony). "How many men can honestly say the world rocked on the morning of their wedding" is one that I can remember.

Hey, I might be able to rendezvous this evening post 7. I'm seeing ad hoc stuff, but nothing solid. Anything concrete?

I'll just need to fluff my hair.
