Confused: Are cards important to meta-puzzle in season 2?

I've searched in several places and haven't found an answer, so hopefully this isn't an inappropriate question in this forum.

Just how important are the puzzle cards to the ARG in season 2?

I know I've seen a post that says they're less important, but how much so? With the split between Perplex City Stories (that doesn't start until April) and the We Love Puzzles site for cards (which starts today), is there a large gap between the cards I've just dropped $100 on, and the meta-game ARG? I followed Season 1 and solved just a few cards, but became very interested as Season 1 neared a close. If I'm more interested in participating in the ARG community, and less interested about scoring points for the puzzles, did I make a bad purchasing decision?

To be honest, I don't think anybody actually knows yet (except Mind Candy, of course). I'd guess there'd be some interaction, but probably not as much as S1

Obviously a very difficult question to answer at the moment, but it's looking as if the cards (and particularly their reverse sides) will help provide some of the back-story.

As a possibly related matter, bearing in mind that the ARG will supposedly focus more on Violet, my parcel of Season 2 cards from Firebox also contained a single copy of the Season 1 card #027 - Bar None.
#027 of course being the card that gives us Violet's phone number...

I think that's a coincidence. I got #051: Jigsaw with my preorder.

So did I Shocked

It's all spec at the moment, but I'm guessing there's nothing at all on the card fronts that has anything to do with the ARG, while the backs have either useful supporting / background information, local PXC colour or loose ends in the story that they need to tie off and haven't put in the ARG.

After having gone through some of the cards, I suspect that a few of the puzzles may indeed be ARG-related. Whether they will play a major part or just provide a way-in to the ARG, I still haven't a clue.

As an example, the answer to at least one of the cards is a
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
valid, UK-based telephone number.

Yeah, me too.

Just to be safe, I'm looking at all my cards in the dark and with a UV light. (By the way, #005=Scratch 'n' Sniff!)

AtionSong, let me save you time. None of the red-purples, name game, colorblind, murder, so sorry, travel writer, and treason don't have any VU, front or back.

also Jigsaw and that other card are both street team cards, wich means that MC must have THOUSANDS of extras of those 9-10 season 1 cards. just freebies, so you go back & get S1 cards too, i'm sure.

OK, now for the META. I did find something on S2 #103, Bush Bakery. The Left side of the card has what appears to be a WHEEL in the sky??! don't quite looks like it fits, knowing what the old blobs l00k like.

anyone notice the Hard card that's EXACT answer is ANOTHER CARD??! thought that was funny.

Finally got to look at that myself, and it is odd. Bearing in mind that the sun appears to be setting in the photo, the image reminds me of a drawing of the Sun emitting rays.

BTW, DarkHuman: re your comments on the absense of UV markings, you might want to take a look at my post on the S2 #006 thread concerning a strange marking on the reverse of the card which I thought at first was UV.

I was kicking myself the other day because it took me a week to figure out that #5 was S 'n' S. Rolling Eyes
