I'm new here, and I've decided to cut my teeth on this one.

Any way, as I was navigating through the site I came to this series:

http://origamishadows.com/life.html
http://origamishadows.com/life2.html
http://origamishadows.com/life3.html
http://origamishadows.com/late.html

My first instinct when I saw the last page was that it was a simple substituion cypher. Looking at the letter frequencies I think that's the key, but I can't seem to work it out. I'll attach what I've got so far.

EDIT: It could also be German, but since I don't speak it, or know the frequency of it's letters I don't know if I'll be able to translate it.

Or, alternatively, you could just do a ROT-13 to see what it says.

Well a feel like a dope now, the ROT-13 took care of it:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
you're waiting for something better, always just over the horizon, right around the corner, just out of reach. you lose something that isn't perfect but is still damn good through negligence or disregard, through not caring enough when you should because you're straining to see what's going on in darkness ahead. tomorrow's not any better. in fact, it's a little bit worse. when you've dropped your guard and you least expect it, in comes the inevitable Fall. what remains? it IS tomorrow. it's far too late.

You should know that this is not a typical ARG here, or even a typical trail. It's more of a story told in a unique way. It has very little interactivity. It's also fairly short in terms of playtime, although there is a lot of material. As long as you've enjoyed it so far, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Edit: By the way, I am not involved in this, other than having gone through it.

Finished the big list thing. Didn't even take the time to read through the whole story, just gathered links... xD

Description: Complete (?) link guide, including keys and what you get after you find them all. Wherever it says "see above" or "see below", it means a page has already come up and been explained. Ctrl-f can be helpful in those cases. Corrections, additions, etc are all welcome.

Edit: Note that some links may not be readily apparent, either because they appear the same as surrounding text or because they're disguised to have the same or similar colour to the background.
Edit 2: Added a few links I forgot originally and corrected a typo.
Edit 3: Added several links. (Note to self: never do this at night again. >_>; )
Edit 4: Reorganized.
Edit 5: Miscellaneous edits and fixes.

I agree. I'm deciding this one belongs in Timewasters.

Thanks. I'm surprised I had the patience to finish it, really. Almost ended up leaving out a portion, too, since there were some links I missed at first. (Didn't catch them until I checked to see if I had all 20 keys, which I didn't.)

And now begins the task of reading them all... :p

if anyone can put this story in order, copy and paste it into a .txt file and upload it so we can read it without having to spend all the time going back and forth through the endless maze of hidden links, that would be great.

I thought about it, but then again I thought it would kinda be defeating the purpose of the story. It would be like watching Memento for the first time backwards. You can do it, but at the same time, you miss out on the experience of the story, and IMHO, the experience is just as important as the plot of the story.

Definitely yeah. In fact, the structure is an important part of the story. I'd even go so far as to say you probably should try not to use Nabi's list the first time through, though it's ceratinly invaluable if you get stuck.

A good point. The experience can be very important to the overall effect and "feel" of a story. Think of my guide more as a sort of "cheat sheet" designed to help if you need it, but not set-in-stone instructions of what to read when.

So... I had no previous knowledge of this game, or story, or Timewaster - until this afternoon when I received a cryptic envelope from NYC with nothing on it but my snail mail address and a note that reads: "This was supposed to be in the ARGFest packet - rose" ("rose" being our own UF rose, ARGFest Organizer Extraordinaire, I suppose). Inside the envelope was a card with a symbol in the form of the picture on the Craigslist ad, except in blue and green, and embossed. Also on the card is "origamishadows", which led me here.

Did anyone else get one of these cards?
