[PUZZLE][INTERACTION]The Collection of the Folio
WARNING: Tied to the Brackin thread. definite green topic. Reds beware.

okay, so some of you know whats going on here, but for those of you out of the loop, here you go.

Over the past few weeks, notgordian, casey, agent lex, some others and myself have been communicating with Brackin, trying to acquire the original copy of the folio page Brackin transcribed from Wright Sr.

Needless to say, we've succeeded. The page is currently in a lockbox in my room.

There is a small discrepancy between Brackin's transcription and the folio page, however. In the second canto, Brackin gave us five names. Caligula, Augustus, Nero, Esau and Cane. However, in the actual page, it doesn't look like it says Esau. I think it looks more like "Cesar". Brackin himself said that he was in a hurry when he was making the transcription, so it could be his fault, however the handwriting is also a little wierd, so it could just as easily be an error on my part. I don't know, you guys take a crack at it.

Here's a scan of the page.

well Cesar makes more sense, then they all seem to have some common Roman emperor thread but I can't find an emperor cane in any spelling, but all the others are, any ideas?

To clarify, here is the transcript that Agent Lex got from Brackin in a GMail chat conversation. Remember, the "Esau" name is now presumed to be "Cesar".

Quote:
The man of Gold is proud and vain
His greed shines with no apology
His gluttony and lust are unslaked
The bastard prince of Deus returns in time

He has many names they will call him
Caligula Agustus Nero Esau and Cane
But he is the Filmore man creature
And his many pleasures are known to all

His Daughter princess marries another
Between two pillars she stands
The mystery unfolds beneath her
As she floats in bloated lecherous waters

The crumbled pillar is that of blood
Murder and incest are kept secret
His lover is death but he will not die
And his wife the red witch finds her instead

Hidden away in the red tower
His flesh walks the street alone
A maternal copy with different soul
The God killer man will strike him down

Actually, the word "Caesar" is not the name of any one Roman Emperor, but rather a title given to all of them. thus there was a "Caesar Augustus", a "Caesar Caligula", etc. In this way, we could be mistaken as the rest of the names in the list are referring to specific people.

On the other hand, Esau and Cane are both Biblical figures, so Esau would make a little more sense. I just can't really see it in the page.

Also...biblically, the name is "Cain," not "Cane." It could be a spelling error, or we could be barking up the wrong tree.

Re: Morelaak's comment

The great Julius Caesar, adoptive father of the child that would become emperor Augustus, is often referred to simply as Caesar.

Oh, and I think the last name looks more like the word 'leave' than Cain or Cane--but 'leave' really makes next to no sense.

The handwriting is a little dated... that's why the C's look like LE's.

Check the difference between the C in Caligula and the C in Cane.

hmm....

Cain vs. Cane....

Anybody else remember Cane from Command & Conquer??? Razz

yeh Julius Caesar is generally meant by the reference Caesar on its own, even though it is a title also given that I believe stems from the original Emperor Caesar.

I'm posting this in a couple of places, but Ethan said something about a big mission to find all the pages of a book. So this is only the beginning for us. Maybe the other pages will give us more insight. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long.

Considering that there's something up to 200 pages, it might take a while Wink

Though I believe a quarter of them are kept at the Vatican, so that's 50 out the way...

ok, I don't want to say this, as it takes away from the realism of the game, so i'm gonna spoiler it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
no, it's not real.

so there you go.
