Jason,

Hey man, sorry for the delay in getting back at you from your latest email. It was really good to hear from you though. I always enjoy meeting fellow military men, especially a dedicated young fellow like yourself. My travel plans ending up being snafu'd and only managed to get home this past weekend. And even though this old man was never happier to see the homestead, I still wasn't able to relax. Seems some yahoo broke into my place while I was gone and ransacked both my personal and the M-A-R-A business stuff. So I've been dealing with the police, the insurance company, and just way too much goddamn red tape since then. They didn't take too much, but I know there are some artifacts missing from the M-A-R-A stuff, items either never claimed by the contractor or stuff Ted, Frankie, or I grabbed while on one of our jobs.

Yeah, I know that might sound weird but sometimes we end up holding on to the items we've been asked to recover, a couple of times in government contracts where the contract was cancelled after we completed our mission but before we could deliver the results, and at least once when the guy who hired us turned up dead before we could wrap up the assignment. Now that I think of it, that's the same guy who hired us to go into Haneda, that old airbase in Japan. He was a reporter researching some secret government program he'd thought he'd uncovered, and those documents were part of his research. After that recovery, he contracted us for a second gig, at Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Some real coincidences there it seems, between the places we've been with M-A-R-A missions and where your Dad was stationed. Damn small and interesting world, isn't it?

Hey, I've got to run. I'm meeting up with someone else who's interested in this same stuff. I feel bad I've put off the poor kid a couple times already with coming home late and all the crap that's happened since so I need to finally get together with him and see what he wants. Well, I kind of know what he wants, I mean, I've seen his website and all, just not sure how I can help. when I get a bit more time I promise to shoot you off another email with some of that additional information about those places you asked about.
Gotta run.

Nate

Willing to bet that is the connection. Speaking meta, it's likely they were waiting for Nate to return when the package was received with the additional MARA items. Nice.

My SPEC is that these are aliases bestowed by Operation Paperclip (which was involved in bringing Nazi scientists to the West). So Genero may be an alias for Erich Miller.

But surely he would be too old to be "The Miller" wouldn't he?

Also, "Dr. Ewen Cameron" was real person.. another scientist involved in some secret experiment stuff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Ewen_Cameron

This is interesting, although somewhat off-topic; has anyone else checked out the thread "Indian Lake Project" under news & rumors? It has a link to this blog:
http://indianlakeproject.blogspot.com/
This blog discusses an MKULTRA project involving experiments on children which included electroshock therapy and drug-induced comas to name a few. These experiments actually happened; it is unknown however if the blog itself is an ARG.

One of the sites these experiments took place was the Allen Memorial Institute (previously an orphanage run by the catholic church and renamed almost overnight) in Montreal. The whole project was overseen by Dr. Ewen Cameron. Some of the surviving children are called the Duplessis orphans.

In that first email Nate hinted about writing stuff backwards....PETERSCL

Maybe the password is the name of the artifact written backwards?

And the stuff thebruce got looks definitely like an artifact. Medical Kit as a password?

And what kind of clue can we gleem from that magazine that Derek007 got - another Vietnam era artifact perhaps? Beyond Magazine as a password?

Just thinking outloud while still at work.

NKP, finally

Thanks to Tinneman's Japanese folder code here, we now have the correct login information for Nakhon Phanom, Thailand:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
username: NKP
password: medicalequipment

I have to say, though, the contents are rather anticlimactic..

EDIT: this is what it says in the "NKP.txt" file:
Quote:

RETRIEVAL SITE: Nakhon Phanom Air Base, Thailand (NKP)

DATE: 1979

AGENCY MEMBERS: DiRenzo, Harvey, Shiffer

NOTES: US Air base portions turned over to Royal Thai Navy

Government contract

Retrieval of contents of classified research facility including medical equipment, specimens, and records

So where are the 'records'? Seems like they would be useful, no?
