I believe the answer is PTEROSAUR, which would give the "A" for FARM

As discussed in chat. Derek Barnes was a character in the show "Freaky Links". Apparently, GMD Studios (aka Brian Clark) did the web content for the show. They were enhancing audience experience long before Lost or Heroes. Derek was into the paranormal stuff. Perhaps this puzzle was a homage to GMD (and our main character is named Derek). Is our PM tipping his hat to GMD? We had a few good giggles.
